  1. This is me just assuming "devil's advocate" here...

You design the character with the freedom you want to have.  If you want a character to be Dex oriented, you give him high Dex, high CVs, high DEX skills, whatever.

If you are designing Groo, you give him low DEX, but high CSLs with Swords.

  2. I just hooked up with HERO 3 years ago (not counting an ESPIONAGE campaign I ran when I was 12),  So I did not witness any of the debates when the system changed over from 5th to 6th edition.

Figured characteristics where jettisoned, but figured skills (those based on 9+CHAR/5) still exist.  Why not have the pricing a uniform 1 point familiarity, 2 point prof. and 3 point 11-?

Just curious for the reasons -- don't want to start any unfriendliness or anything.

  3. Trancers (1985) made by the same company, and with some of the same stars, has a Pulp feel especially in the beginning despite being a Time Travel movie.

TRANCERS could be a mini-campaign for Hero System.  A lot of the EMPIRE films could be.

"Dry hair's for squids," is a line around these parts.  The weird retro 50s feel of the future scenes clinch the pulp feel.

  4. On G+ Legendsmiths has stated that the Narosia book is near layout, and the pdf should be out within a month. That is just me hoping to get the info correct though. Maybe Legendsmiths could stop by and give an actual update on what is going down.

  5. On the Hero G+ Page, a person asked for ways to simplify Hero System Combat. Most people answered with organizational responses. Be better prepared, have everyone's key stats on a combat sheet, that sort of thing.

I responded with the following (this is for 6e):

    SPD is dormant.

    No CSLs or PSLs.

END is dormant and all powers are bought with 0 END cost.

No martial maneuvers/martial arts -- only the basic manuvers are allowed.

    STUNx returns to 1D6-1

Just posting this here for comment.

  6. I have always been more of a DC person, but I believe a lot of it depends on your childhood.  In my early years I remember watching the Batman TV show and being taken to see Donner's Superman in the theaters.

  7. That's the thread that Tasha really taught me how far Reasoning from Effect really went.  In NEXT Cage has the power to go back in time around 30 seconds to avoid somekind of danger.  The power most likely to be used was a simple 4 point skill level.  The time was SFX -- the actual result was the knowledge that he gained from going back.  Hence the 4 point skill level.

The ability in Edge of Tomorrow sounds different, but I haven't seen the movie.  I have seen the trailer and I have read that it is Groundhog's Day set in Starship Troopers.  The above suggestions sound good to me.

(Does Cruise actually ever kill himself in the movie.  It is always an outside influence killing him in the trailer...)
