  1. Re: anyone know the Fuzion system? Theres also a fantasy campaign world based on a series of comics called "Artesia" using the Fuzion system. Its really not -that- bad a system; it handles the interface between people and machines better than most other game systems Ive seen, and you can use the mekton Zeta-Plus vehicle rules without any major changes.
  2. Re: Looking for a good name for a Martial Art I think Ed Coll meant that "effiminate" was considered insulting by the speakers of Latin. Id have called it Cestus Pulchra, myself
  3. Re: Start of an Alien Invasion Id say your best bet is to decide which way you want to go (either -all- communications are shut down, or the aliens missed something because we out-primitived them), and just present it to your players as being the way you want it. If you want the Humans to have very little chance of organizing a resistanc,e knock out all communications. If you want the routing of the aliens by the world's armies to be a plot point, leave the landlines intact. My experience is that your players will accept the situation as being however you present it to them, so decide which works best for the kinds of stories you want to tell
  4. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... A few from our Shadowrun game... ------------------------- GM: You can see the gangers, sitting on their dumpster-rescued couch, watching old reruns of a Japanese-style game show called That Must Be Uncomfortable! -------------------- Tam: This hangover is...extraordinary. Shay Shay: Is it painful? Or do you like it? Tam: ...Yes, to both. -------------------- GM: So the ganger pulls a Ruger Super-Warhawk (massive pistol), all chromed out, with a laser sight, and he puts it against the cute blonde's forehead and shouts "HOW BOUT A DATE, BABYCAKES?!" Cat: Doesnt that invalidate the usefulnesss of the laser sight?
  5. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Oh, I think you know
  6. Re: First role playing memory I think original (three tan booklet) D&D was still TSR. I think. I wasnt paying much attention to publishing companies back in 7th grade
  7. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... And now, to try to return this thread to its original purpose (not that Feline Fury minds having her own thread)... Some quotes from the newly-reinstated Sequoia City Slayer game ---------------------- Jinx: Im way more of a tramp in my dream life than I am in my real life. Ive gotta work on that Teddi: ....Which direction? -------------------- Teddi and Jinx are headed to school, looking at the town rebuilding after the damage done by the earthquake from the near-apocalypse they narrowly diverted Teddi: Should I consider this a win, because the world is still here...or feel bad because we should have been a little bit quicker? Jinx: *shrugs* All my stuff is still here --------------------- Teddi (OOC): Yes, Teddi is kind of into that stuff too, because she was brought up to be a Watcher, and theyre practically Librarians, and you know how THEY are! ---------------------- Shauna: Rumors are that Eric spent the summer touring with a rock band! Jinx: He spent the summer at his grandparents, in Florida. He played a lot of Rock Band ------------------- Ginny: So, what did you do over the summer? Jinx *Has a montage of hunting, slaying, partying, naughty fun with Charles and Teddi, more slaying, learning spells, naughtiness, and general mischief flash thru her head*: ................Nothing ------------------- We cause a power outage over half the town. Jinx *Calls our police contact*: Hi, Officer Rice Officer Rice: Good evening. And how are you, on this dark, dark evening that Im sure you had absolutely nothing to do with?
  8. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Thanks for the support
  9. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Which is unfortunate, because Feline Fury is a very independant, willful, and self-reliant young lady. And there -are- people in the world built like that. Not many, granted, but they exist.

Most notably, that 1 Character Point gets you 5 Skill Points (not 4). Likewise, there are some campaign limits. Level 2 Attractive is the most anyone is allowed. However, since Feline Fury looks like Eliza Dushku, with THAT body.... * This is Feline Fury as she is today; two years of experience unde rher belt. She started at PL 10 / 150 points. Now she has 46 XPs spent. Even though our GM has decided not to raise the PL cap any time soon, she is still a heck of a lot tougher and more overall competent than she was two years ago, when she had the fighting ability and stealth skills of a Los Angeles cheerleader. * The listed Stats include her Enhanced Characteristics. * Her Enhanced Wisdom is an Alternate Power to her Enhanced Dexterity, Basically this means that Missy can concentrate either on being agile, or her enhanced senses. Or being incredibly stubborn. This is why her Dex, Wisdom, and Will Saves have double entries. The first number listed is her "standard setting" with her focus on agility. The second number is when shes putting her mind to it * The claws count as Melee combat, but not Unarmed. This allowed me to buy some Attack Specialization which PL balances her, whether her claws are out or not. She pops the claws when she wants to do BIG damage, though she rarely if ever uses them against living targets. * Her costume is made of incredibly durable materials...but it doesnt cover all of her. We decided to represent this as only 1 point of Protection, rather than mess with Activation Rolls (which they dont really have in M&M anyway) * If there are any mathematic or rules interpretation errors...thats probably my fault I hope this is useful / entertaining
  11. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Actually....*ahem*...the game she's in is run on Mutants and Masterminds. I could still post her sheet, if youd like...
  12. Re: Nazi Flying Saucers I guess a simple "Youre fired!" wasnt enough? Pretty harsh on the family...
  13. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... FWIW, shes not a highschooler. She was just out of high school when the game started. Now she recently turned 20. And yes, she has superhuman strength and agility. (Her STR is actually about 20, which I consider superhuman for a girl who is 5'4"). She can grow or reduce the length of her unbreakable nails, but thats the only real "transforming" she does. So no, she doesnt have a "transformation sequence". Sorry guys. Instead she just has to slide those stockings on one long leg at a time.....
  14. Re: What powers frustrate u & disrupt your campaigns? I usually do the same thing with Pregog. I tell the Players "Precog tells you the MOST LIKELY future, based on events happening as they would from the point you look forward from, without outside (your) interferance". I actually gamed with a GM who ran Precog as "absolutely the unavoidable future now that you have looked at it". So by looking into the future, you made it so. We would -try- to work around outcomes we didnt like, and not everything was -exactly- what it had seemed when we looked, but it -always- played out to be what we had seen with precog. I have NO idea how he did it. He loved Greek mythology, and was a master at maneuvering PCs into place when he needed them to be. He was also kind of a railroading GM, so while it was impressive in how he handled Precog, his games werent always fun...
  15. Re: Major NPCs from your campaign...who got ganked before their time. I had a campaign where there the "old guard" of superheroes had disappeared over the course of about a year, one by one. There was also an upsurge in teenagers manifesting superpowers. The PCs were based around a family that had developed powers recently, and then recruited some help among their friends and local supers to form a team to fill in the power vacuum left by the missing Old Guard. I created a telepath/telekinetic NPC who was supposed to become a team-villain. Her powers were similar to those of Mai the Psychic Girl (picture near Charles Xavier level telepathy coupled with equally powerful telekinetic abilities, including flight, forcewalls, AE concussion blasts, etc). Her personality and appearance were based off of some of Winona Ryder's more "Goth" characters, and she had had a BAD childhood. So she was kind of....volatile. The PCs become aware of her existence when a house near where they live explodes. (Ophelia has had enough of her foster family, thank you). The PCs zip over and rather than the hard battle I was expecting, the team's resident "Wolverine type".....talks to her. Timberwolf managed IN CHARACTER to talk her down from her rage, and find out what happened. Next thing I know, shes being asked to join the team.
  16. Re: First role playing memory Werent all those modules put out -after- groups like Judges Guild put out "City-State of the Invincible Overlord" and "Forgotten Tower"?
  17. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... A teenage Canadian thug-life punkette with Supergirl-level powers and a penchant for going to raves and not coming back till a couple of days later. Feline Fury actually cant do the dominatrix thing very well; she ends up getting the giggles (Now playful wrestling, on the other hand...)
  18. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I know. It just boggles the mind, doesnt it?
  19. Re: First role playing memory Miles and Jimmy, my two best friends from 7th grade, took me to a shop called "Metal Men" in Oklahoma City, where we looked at row upon row of metal figurines. We went there a couple of times just to look around, and we all bought a few packs of miniatures and some paints, because the guy behind the counter told us that the miniatures were supposed to be painted by hand, and we thought they looked cool. After a couple of visits, Miles found out that there was a game that went along with the miniatures, so we all chipped in to buy the white boked set of D&D. We went back to my house, and spent that evening reading the rules and rolling up characters. Miles was the most analytical of us, so he ended up kind of becoming GM by default. This was back in 1976, when D&D was in 3 tan booklets. I think about a week after we got the boxed set, "Greyhawk" came out. I remember noticing things like the fact that all weapons did 1d6 of damage. So while Jimmy was toting around a greatsword, my character carried 12 daggers. I cant remember my character's name, but I -do- remember that he managed to avoid getting caught by the town guard by throwing a saddle at a guardsman and dropping him (saddles did 1d6, too) It took us about a month to get the hang of things, and then we were off and running! I remember spending an afternoon trying to figure out -where- on my character these "hit points" were, and what happened if he got hit somewhere that wasnt one of those points. (It got explained to me by Miles later).
  20. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Some quotes from the Titans ---------- Canadienne goes in to wake Neutron up. Canadienne *gently takes hold of Neutrons bed and SHAKES IT!* Neutron: Wha? Six point two.... Canadienne: ...Darned Californians. ---------------- Canadienne: Im bored. This world needs more supervillains Feline Fury: Shut up! Canadienne: Im just sayin... ----------------- The Titans go to New York, and are given a tour of the skyscraper HQ of The Watch. It includes a dock, hangar, garage, gymnasium, holographic combat simulator, high-tech briefing room, state of the art kitchen, living quarters, etc. Canadienne: I totally joined the wrong team! Feline Fury: Me too! ------------------ Feline Fury *looking at Canadienne*: I keep forgetting that when shes around, Im not "the shameless one" anymore ------------- Feline Fury texts: DO NOT PIMP OUR TEAMMATE! ------------- Canadienne gets scathed for her appearance on the Colbert Report, where she flubbed her part of the interview very much bad. Canadienne: They said I -must- have the ability to survive without oxygen because Im too dumb to breathe....and I DO have the ability to survive without oxygen!
  21. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... In the 1960s heroes game, Gold Guardian has recruited the help of a skilled scientist by giving him a high-tech lab. GM: Dr von Heisenbraun is bouncing around the new lab, cackling with glee and French-kissing the lab equipment *mimes licking a beaker* Gold Guardian: ...Well....its his lab now! --------------- Goblyn: Does NASA have secret agents? Star Ranger: I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of any such personnel. Gold Guardian: That means "yes". -------------- GM: Dr. von Heisenbraun has that "Einstein hairdoo" Goblyn (OOC): Someone needs to tell him that forks and wall sockets dont mix. ----------------- Goblyn *looking at the meteorite in the microscope*: ...I can see my house from here Gold Guardian: Your apartment is smaller than I thought Goblyn: I told you I lived in a brownstone. Gold Guardian: Yes, but I didnt think it was a BROWN STONE! ----------------- Star Ranger (OOC): Ill go in, and we can stake Goblyn out here on the roof Goblyn: *Mimes being crucified* ---------------- Star Ranger: Those men arent the sharpest tools in the shed. Billy Two-Stones (Crime boss): Emphasis on "tools". --------------- GM: Its a hip, swinging place with a string trio, and a lot of people in black turtlenecks and berets, with little goatees. Gold Guardian (OOC): And those are the women! ============== Werewolf: Why couldnt I have been bitten by a "wereF-16"?!
  22. Re: You were supposed to turn left! So, what happened to the crew and the ships? It sounds to me like if they succeeded, everyone would be safer.
