Samira (OOC): At least once a session. Except for emo-ey World of Darkness players, but they dont really count ---------------------- Kasha wants to bribe her sabertooth companion, Zama Kasha: Can you summon a fish? Khyron: (OOC) I look around at the rest of the party, which are all beautiful women.....and then look Brom in the eye and start bouncing my pecs *Player bounces his pecs* -------------------------- GM: And high above you, in the cliff face, you see a hollow like a cave entrance, with a wooden projection like a scaffold or porch of some kind, and a soft glow as from a torch some ways back. Shardra: *joking* A fire! OMG! A fire in a wooden building! Who would do something as stupid as that?!? GM: Um....Abraham Lincoln? Samira (OOC): And just LOOK at what happened to him! ------------------------- Khyron (OOC): I sneak up behind the bandit guard, then clamp my hand over his mouth and knife him in the back. Samira (OOC): GANK THE NOOB! GANK THE NOOB!

They brandish Holy Water at her Serena: What the **** kind of back-woods Daniel Boone Hellmouth have I stumbled into?!?
  3. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER You want sand-filled beer?!?
  4. Re: What effects would you see on a terrestial planet in a binary system?
  5. Re: What effects would you see on a terrestial planet in a binary system? I recently started a fantasy game with two suns and three moons. Just for effect. Do I have to kill all my PCs now?
  6. Re: Your PCs might be Underpowered if... The END cost for running around in their skin-tight costumes makes them pass out before they can get to the team vehicle.
  7. Re: Card Shark: Dark Champions [Losing Battle] The original term was "Card Sharp" with a "P". People kept mispronouncing it as "card shark", then same way they say "If you think that, youve got another thing coming" with a "G", instead of the original "If you think that, youve got another think coming" with a "K". Judas Priest sure as heck didnt help. What does all of this have to do with the HERO product? Nothing! But my Dad gave me a serious chewing-out for misusing this phrase when I was in junior high, so I pass the savings on to you. [/Losing Battle]
  8. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... So here I am at the age of (mumble mumble), having been an avid RPG player since I first discovered the hobby in 1976.....and I just red my first Conan story, by Robert E. Howard. Wow! I did myself a SERIOUS disservice by not picking this up sooner! I totally GET how so many gamers pattern things on Howard (although Conan in the books is much, much more complex a character than most gamer "homages"). I bought the entire Howard collection. Im glad I did
  9. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Some quotes from the Hawk Knight fantasy game: Hakkar, ex-gladiator Talik Kael, Hawk Knight Zalan, Ruin Explorer and Scholar ----------------- Hakkar: Oh, yes, my friend Talik is quite dangerous! The very sun peeks over the horizon each morning to see that he is not angry with it! ---------------- Hakkar: Mother did tell me there would be harems like this! ---------------- Talik: So...once you foist a kingdom off on me, what amazes me is that Im likely to have Hakkar as an advisor! Zalan: Every King needs a fool Hakkar: That will NOT be my role....Oh! I see! You were volunteering! How accomodating of you! Yes, I believe that we can arrange room at the court for you. ------------ A Snakeman: *Smites Hakkar!* Hakkar: *Shrugs it off with barely a scratch* Now is not the time for tickling! Hakkar is offended by your presence! ----------------- GM: ...And the other Snakeman is slithering away thru the tall grass. Talik (OOC): Im on my riding Hawk so Im getting the overhead view. The tall grass wont help him at all. Although Ill switch from my great lance to the bow; I dont feel like going pole vaulting today
  10. Re: Why Obadiah Stane went bad.... End of line.
  11. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... "You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later." Can someone get Lonewalker for me? Them's some great quotes
  12. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Possessed villagers approach the Embria fantasy game group, brandishing pointy farm implements Rhiannon: I never realized how dangerous farming is... Metrion: The greatest danger is getting trapped in it for the rest of your life. ------------------- Metrion: Once again, the Wizard gets the short end of the obelisk ------------------ Metrion is charged by three villagers, as the evil party behind the mayhem backs away from us Metrion: Begone! I have bigger fish to fry than you! Rhiannon: And he does mean "fry"! Hes a Wizard, you know! ----------------- Metrion the Wizard (OOC): I hope that youre satisfied with the arcane services I provide. Your ASP, as it were. Chyra the Sorceress (OOC): We use two ASP's, for full coverage. Rhiannon (OOC): Two ASPs with a DSP back-up! *points at the Cleric figure* Varga (OOC): Well, we were covered by "Red Wizards of Thay", but their customer service left a LOT to be desired. ----------------- Metrion: Flare? Really?! Did you just throw a CANTRIP at me? *Cough* I still have some wounds left! You can treat me with respect and throw leveled spells at me! ----------------- GM: The "bard" tears off its outer skin, and stands revealed as an evil-looking demonic bird creature! Varga (OOC): We're Vrocked ;P ----------------- Rhiannon (OOC): Owwie. Metrion (OOC): Show me on the crit chart where the bad man touched you
  13. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... A few from the Star Wars campaign ------------ Raene (OOC): Raene is playing "Swoop Gang Barbie" with Princess Asha, helping her get an outfit together for going undercover in the gang's hideout. ---------------- Raene: I dont know much about Jedi. Are you going to have to, like, tell them who you are? Dirk Nightstrider: The Jedi Code has no real restrictions about lying. Princess Asha: Thats...disturbing, actually. --------------- Raene (OOC): Isnt that a little overdone? Princess Asha (OOC): Im Nabooian! We treat "bedazzling" things as a solemn ritual of womanhood! ------------- Dirk: I have no intention of killing anyone. Asha: I havent either, but thats not always how it works out. --------------- [best without explanation] Princess Asha: When this is all over, should I sell her to someone? As a favor to her? ------------- [On the outlook of Droids] Asha (OOC): Droids are just dogs that can talk! -------------- Raene (OOC): While we are here on Nar-Shadda to meet the criminal underworld boss, I'll take them to an S&M show. GM: All...right. The show features a main performance in the middle of the large stage, and a smaller performance on either side. Asha (OOC): So its basically "Wriggling Bugger's Beat'em and Nailme Circus"?
  14. Re: My mostly hard sci-fi campaign To return to the idea of Zombification....if its done by implanting a chip which suppresses the convict's personality and makes them want to be docile and helpful, if the process is reversible, then there would be less risk of "killing the wrong person". If later evidence exhonerates the person, then their chip can be removed and they are "returned" to normal life. Although they have lost the intervening time, this seems preferrable to being dead. That said, the idea that some people might figure out ways to abuse the "zombified" convicts seems likely, if they have access and opportunity. Imagine a construction company using "zombified" labor on the side, and paying them nothing, while kicking back half of the money they save to the local Sheriff who lets them "borrow" the convicts... Its a fool-proof plan, till one of the Zombies dies in a work-site accident...
  15. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I actually like history rants...
  16. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Some quotes from Embria -------------- GM: You find a partially-decayed body on the road, thats basically a skeleton Chyra (OOC): Ill examine the body to see what killed him. GM: Make a "Heal" check Rhiannon (OOC): Isnt it a little late for that?! ------------ Chyra (OOC): Uh oh. The GM has artwork of this stuff. We're screwed ------------ Metrion :*examining a book* Ah. The works of Ulwayne the Tendentious. I used to read his works late at night, when I couldnt sleep. Varga: ...You...made that word up. Metrion: I am a wizard! I have the power to create things! ------------ Chyra: Dont lick the frost-blade! ------------ Varga: I think that this trap was constructed by the Elves. This part here is carved with the elven runes for "thpppppppppppppppp"
  17. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... For good urban fantasy, Id recommend the Harry Dresden books by Jim Butcher. His take on various monsters is always interesting, Harry is a hoot, and his plots are excellent. Hes also a fellow gamer, like us
  18. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... Just finished Honor Harrington: On Basilisk Station. A good adaptation of the CS Forester Horatio Hornblower concept to a science fiction setting. I dont like the "impeller drives", but I understand their necessity to give the ship combats the proper amount of tactical oomph. Overall, a quite good book. I look forward to reading more. Dont let the first chapter stop you.
  19. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From the Hawk Knights game (Note: The guy playing Hakkar is the same guy that played Troubleshooter in the Freedom League game) ------------------------------------ Hakkar: *delerious with drink, no where near a relative* No mom...I wasnt so drunk that I didnt know she was my sister...I was just drunk enough to not care! *passes out* -------------------- Hakkar: Ugh...I think I vomitted up my gizzard this morning. Talik: You have a gizzard?!? Hakkar: ...Not any more. ---------------- Talik: So, how long until we get taken to this job offer and/or Human Sacrifice? Hakkar (OOC): Your HR department is rough! Talik (OOC): Cake or Death! ------------------ Hakkar (OOC): My character has his conditions confused. He was "Sickened"; he thought he was "Dying"! -------------- Talik, Hakkar, and Zalan bust into Vaenor the Scorpion God(ling)'s quarters and kill half his men Vaenor: Fools! You have squandered the position I was going to offer you in my army! Talik: Are you kidding? This is our audition! --------------- Hakkar: The symbol! The symbol in Vaenor's chitin! Tear it out its controlling the sorcoress! Talik: In his what?!? Hakkar: His chitin! His chi-...His SHELL! Talik: Why do you know "chitin" and I dont?
  20. Re: WWYCD #81 A True Test of a Hero What manner of Thread Necromancy be this?!?
  21. Re: Make Your Own Motivational Poster Repped, Lucius. I tried to rep the Palindromedary too, but it wouldnt let me (sorry Pal)
  22. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Pictures of the characters from the Embria campaign: Chyra, the Undead-aspected Sorceress, (bodycast as Skye Sweetnam) Metrion the Black, Wizard (bodycast as a young Ian McKellan) Lee Reighborn, Cleric of Pelor (bodycast as Christian Bale)(art by ProdigyDuck) Rhiannon, Half Elven Fighter-Rogue (bodycast as Hayden Panetierre) Tash, Half-Orc Ranger (bodycast as Rosario Dawson) Varga, Barbarienne (bodycast as Phoenix from American Gladiators) I hope this helps people picture the characters when you read their silly quotes Edit: Here is Rhiannon's new, heavier armor
  23. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Metrion's are quite reasonable
  24. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From the Embria Pathfinder game. ----------------- Rhiannon (Semi-OOC): Whats the difference between a Ranger and a Barbarian, again? Metrion (OOC): The Barbarian kills more people. The Ranger kills more animals. ------------- GM: Varga's "childhood friend" Tharber, a Barbarian nearly seven feet tall, clasps Metrion's hand firmly. You think you've taken a point of subdual damage. Metrion: *sotto voce* ....Jocks ------------- Tharber: Let me tell you about the Citadel of an Evil Cleric that we destroyed! He wasnt -in- it.... Metrion: So...you are a band of travelling stonemasons, then. Tharber: ------------- Metrion: *Eyeing Tharber's greataxe* You know what they say about people with enormous weapons...theyre "compensating" for something. Siyan the Elf: Hes not compensating. Metrion: I was talking about brains, my dear. Siyan: Well, there youve got him. ------------ GM: You see a stand of trees. Rhiannon (OOC): Cheese it! Its the copse! ------------- Chyra (OOC): Whats the Knowledge Skill for that? Metrion (OOC): Knowledge of My Butt Rhiannon (OOC): Would that be "Dungeoneering"? "Structural"?!? Metrion (OOC): Arcana! ------------ Rhiannon: *Chops a Ghoul in half* I thought Tharber said that they had killed everything in this stupid keep! The place is crawling with undead! Varga: *Chops two Ghouls in half cause shes the Barbarian* The only thing Tharber ever finishes is his beer Metrion: I feel sorry for his women. -------------- Rhiannon (OOC): If we're nice, maybe theyll guard our keep someday Metrion (OOC): I dont see why we have to be nice. Ill have Dominate Person by then. Chyra (OOC): Youre NOT supposed to do that. Metrion (OOC): Oh. Im sorry. Chyra (OOC): IM supposed to do that! ------------------ Rhiannon (OOC): Do the bodies look like they were adventurers? Like they were townsfolk? Chyra (OOC): I assumed that they look like guards. Unless they dont. Metrion (OOC): That was very nearly "zen"..... ----------- GM: The Zombie stand up. it only gets a Partial Action, and standing takes its move. Metrion (OOC): Thats why "Trip" is fabulous versus Zombies. Rhiannon (OOC): Especially if you do it while playing "Yakkitty Sax"! ---------------- (PS: I have artwork of the characters. Should I post it here?)
