I am interested! Probably like any experiment, a lot of opportunities for fine tuning will arise in play. I am totally up for it!

I see you there. Two games. Nice. 😃
Yes I’m maxed out and playing catch-up with players applications! It’s my hope to develop a community on the site with many more hero System games, that i get to play in too!

Now I’m wondering, are there ANY Hero System sixth edition games playing out on YouTube? Ongoing committed games as opposed to quick one shots?
I’m personally running games for new learners on a big rpg play by post forum and get a decent trickle of people who heard of the game and want to try it out. I end up making their characters with their input throughout the process and let them learn through playing.
To be honest I don’t own Champions complete, just the two big volumes of Hero System, and some players have expressed some frustration with the smaller selection of options and the examples they seem to have in the “Complete “ books. Also it would be SO helpful if we could get a mobile app version and or browser based version of Hero Designer.

Never mind. I reinstalled, and everything is working fine.

I upgraded my laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It's got the full installation of Java on it, and that's the only change that I am aware of, but now hero Designer gets to the "Loading Plug Ins" and just doesn't get any further even when I let it run for over an hour...so is it an issue with Windows 10?

Hi! Does anyone have a simple, one or two page list of all of the Powers in the Hero System 6th edition books that are marked with the "Caution" or "Stop" sign for GM's?

For what it's worth, having backed this Kickstarter, I am thinking of expanding my rough spreadsheet for creating 1-3e characters into a full page character sheet that looks like a splash page.
Picture in the top left hand side. Blurb in the top right. The actual character sheet is on the bottom. The format of the latter would be like the 1-3e half page character writeups.
Don't like that idea? Come up with your own. It's going to be a loooong playtest, with hopefully lots of Actual Play.
I tried to eliminate the following image. But having failed to do that, it's an example of what the top half of my ideal character sheet would look like.
I am really interested in seeing your character sheet! And proactively wishing for a Google sheets template!

Oooo! So what is new in the version that was added this year?

If you’re open to online play by post I’m running a 6e Hero System Monster Hunter game that is always open to new players, and is largely for the purpose of building a community of people who know Hero System, so they can run games on the site that I can play in too!

Hero Designer lets you apply cost multiples to items, so you can manually set the x1/2, x1/4, etc. I don't recall if Heromaker does that; it wouldn't surprise me if it does as well.
Hero Designer lets you set up a full custom rules template to get the 3rd edition costs right. I don't think Heromaker does that, though I could be mistaken.
The hard part with both is getting half, quarter, eighth, and so on, multiples on END Cost. I think HD lets you do that by hand-massaging the XML of the character sheet. If not it's for sure something that can be handled in an output template.
That is a template I would like to get!

I will check them out! Thanks!

Is there a version of Here Designer that can do 3rd generation, character designs?
Is there any other software beyond spread sheets for it?
-
I do find it interesting that 3rd edition seems to be in something of a minor revival, and that was the last version of Hero to have dedicated genre rules with distinct variation before the"Universal rpg system" approach took hold.

Does anyone have recommendations for the best forums to find/start a play by post, Hero System game?
Considerations would be, a Hero System playing community, any special features like limited visibility posting (I miss this so much from Hero Central), access?
Personally, I find games on real-time chat type sites like roll20 too time-consuming in a single block of time for me to commit.

And they are back! 4e all over the place! AWESOME! THANK YOU!

Hm...now though, with Champions 5e and Fantasy Hero in PDF, perhaps it could come back to the store? Space Hero 5e PDF? Please?

Any chance of a PDF of Sharper Than A Serpent's Tooth?
Thank you,
Deadman
Oh yes, that would be very nice!

Welcome! I loved the novels and the rule book and all the extra PDF's (scenarios, monsters, etc) that came with it! The MHI rule book is awesome in that it has fluff to get your through, specifically it has some pages of original fiction from the author of the novels in some places and even in the charts and racial descriptions the prose shows obvious collaboration between the author of the novels and the author of the game system. The note, for example, on the PUFF Chart that shows how much you get paid for the bodies of the monsters you have slain where it mentions that gnomes and orcs are worth the same and both races are aware and annoyed at this...
The flexibility of the system invites experimentation too. One thing I worked on but never got around to running was a Monster Hunter campaign set in the Roman Republic, with the player characters all employed by a reclusive, rich patron who was actually a vampire providing a paid service to the other rich families and eliminating competition. I was calling it, Monster Hunter Imperium. The elves were basically the Celts.

I really don't know how well the license worked out commercially for Hero Games (the Kickstarter was the highest funded one they've ever had, but they sure do have a lot of the MHI books left in their warehouse), but it has been my dearest wish ever since that Steve Long and Larry Larry Correia would collaborate again to do a licensed Hero Book for Grimnoir Chronicles. Seriously, Steve Long is a huge Pulp era fan, it would be great!!!

Hello, is the 5th Edition PDF for the Star Hero available in the store? I see the character pack for it and a bunch of 5th edition Star Hero supplement books (i.e. Alien War, Terran Empire, etc)...but I only see the 6th edition Star Hero rules

I had been waiting for it! Thank you! It's been exciting seeing the older version material become available in PDF!

How much interest would there be out there for a PBP Fantasy Hero game?
