  1. I'm not a member of Stargate Command in Real Life... ... But I play one on Hero Central. Dan did indeed begin a Stargate campaign but one of the other players has assumed GMing duties until such time as Dan can pick it up again or no one wants to play anymore (not likely). Dan does still play in the game, however. If you haven't checked out the Hero Central site , It's worth a peek. I don't really remember if registration is required, but there ya have it. So far, we have no hard and fast rules (at least not posted) for SG equipment, races, etc. There is some material generated for it, but I believe it still remains largely in the hands of the GM(s) I'd describe the site itself but you'd be better off exploring it on your own. And if Dan happens to peek in, he can also give you the general features. Enough rambling from me... Charlie
  2. My interpretation is if it's been downloaded 126 times, it probably doesn't suck... Personally, I think I'd like to avoid meeting up with one of htese things. The image is vicious enough -- I can't imagine the stats make it any more cuddly. Very good work at drawing a very nasty-looking thing. Please don't do it again. My children get annoyed at me when I tell them I've had a bad dream and ask if I can "sleep in their room tonight..." Charlie
  3. But I thought... I thought the focus was defined as personal (or not) when purchased. IIRC, Independent merely means that if the focus is taken it's gone (along with the character points used to build it...) and can't be replaced short of taking it back or buying it again with XPs gained through play. Have I missed something? Charlie
  4. If it makes ya feel better, Ben... ... I voted for Kinetik... I'm wondering though, do you guys give each other examples of character dialog to include in the stories? Sometimes, it seems like statements are a little disjointed, like maybe the whole thing was edited for space and the dialog is half referring to something we haven't seen. Which brings up one more question... Are we going to see a final "full" version of the whole thing (slightly polished) when all is said and done? I think it would be cool to see the whole thing compiled into one tale, culminating in a "Let's join forces against the villains who brought us here..." kind of thing... Inquiring minds and all that, Charlie
  5. And another thing... ... Here's another version that uses larger hexes. Both of the files are sized so that they should easily fit into most browser windows. I've been experimenting with setting them up as flash files (another export filter from Illustrator). It actually allows you to zoom in on the map as long as you have the Flash plug-in... something I discovered entirely by accident. For those interested in the original Illustrator files, e-mail me and I'll send 'em on... Charlie (Again)
  6. Re: Good stuff... Well, as the song says, "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with..." Here's a blank version of the "night club" map... Charlie
  7. Oy! You nicked my line!... This is one I played with in Photoshop. The original figure was done by Albert Deschene. I put a different head on it and then played a bit... http://home.earthlink.net/~cgball/maestro2a.jpg Charlie
  8. me too, me too... On Hero Central, I actually have what I have come to dub, "The White Trash Capt. America." He's strong, fast, can take a hit, fights well, has "light" armor and has a throwing shield/weapon. The difference? He's done jail time (framed, but there ya have it...). He drinks like a fish and with no discernible effect (immune to alcohol). His armor is a "heavy" leather jacket (old steel plating added into lining), his fighting skills lean more to the "bar-room brawling" side than the "military trained" side (dirty in-fighting), and his "shield" is a stainless steel hub cap he found in a junk yard... Loads of fun!
  9. And another thing... Includes a question for Ben Oh... y'know... spite. It just seemed that, in any restaurant/club I've ever been in, they've always gone for the "greatest number of chairs around the smallest available table" kind of thing. That, and I just couldn't picture myself sitting with friends around a cozy 2m diameter eating surface... If anyone is interested, I still have the original Illustrator files I used to create that -- one is 16x22 hexes, the other is 33x47 hexes. I was primarily going for something that would fit on a screen all at once so people could see everything at a glance. Just drop me a line. Actually, Ben (if that is your real name... ), would something like this (the blank versions) be a suitable candidate for the Freebie section?
  10. Good stuff... I've also used Illustrator to generate hex grids for pbem games. Saved as a GIF, they're easy enought to edit and update... And they're low in calories, too! attached is a sample... Charlie
