  1. Re: In Real World Terms...

A guy/gal like the one discussed here' date=' with a suit of characteristics and powers proportionate to his/her Defense one is probably clocking in at 700+ pts. and is quite wasted chasing down petty crooks. [/quote']

Ok. I'll agree with the petty crook part, but when I wrote up Scales he was 275 points with 40/40 2x hard and 75 STR.

  2. Re: What was you most powerful Attack vs. Supervillian???

Even with 75% damage reduction' date=' it still requires 50 DEF and a brick level stun total to survive that(over 70). And to me, that's just WAY out of balance. But then, I see a lot of people post stuff like this and just shake my head. I suppose I should know by now, especially on a thread like this, that the numbers are going to be way beyond the necessary or the realistic, but still.[/quote']

Dude. You play your way. Things can be balanced at a high or a low level.

  3. Re: The Last Word

So far, so good, actually, the blathering in particular I objected to is on hold!

(nomination for most awkward sentence construction of the year...)

Amature sentence! Your feebling atempt at a poor sentance is middling at best while lacking any real fire of awkward!

  4. Re: What was you most powerful Attack vs. Supervillian???

I mentioned before in this post that I never had high dice damage' date=' but I am reminded now that I've had one character to had Find Weakness 13-. ONE TIME my character was able to Find Weakness THREE times on an opponent, (brought him down to 1/8 of his defenses) but this was an agent, not a named villain, so I only used my legsweep (7d6, I believe) because I didn't want to kill the guy. The most I'd ever found on a 'named' villain was twice.[/quote']

We used to have some insane FW rolls. One of my heroes would usually get villians to 1/8 with occasional 1/32. Which got her to ask one of the other heroes to heal the villian. When asked why, "I'm not done hitting him!" why yes, she was a bit psycho

  5. Re: Here on Earth-2: your evil counterpart!

He and Bizarro Laughton (aka Chromatic) managed to escape' date=' though, and head to Vegas, where he had a large sum of cash transferred to himself from the account of the real Nexus, then departed this dimension for good. Or did he?[/quote']

The sad thing is the Bizarro Spectrum and the regular Spectrum are probably both looking for them.

  6. Re: In Real World Terms...

You know, you bring up a good point.

If I were to write up a lightsaber, it'd be about a 3D6 RKA, no range, with about 5 points Piercing (from Dark Champions) on it. That'll let you cut through cruddy stormtrooper armor like it wasn't even there.

    BWA HA HA HA!

Hey Speedball, did some of the non Star Wars stuff help?

  7. Re: Musings on Random Musings

Lemming: glad Jenn found a job :) about your inpending backruptcy :(

    Thanks. It means alot. :)

Tonight at the party got to talk to some people. A friend who I hadn't seen for nearly two years showed up out of the blue. He's going through similar crap and trimming out some extra material stuff. He thinks he might wind up going to California as well since the job market is better down there.

It was a very good birthday party for Jenn. And I feel a bunch of the alchohol kicking in right now. I think sitting down was the mistake. :nonp:

  8. Re: Odd 2x Stun rule

I don't use the 2x STUN rule at all for KO'ed characters. If you knock someone out and need a "one more to make sure" hit' date=' like you would need for bricks and other opponents who take a HECK of a beating or who have huge REC stats/recgen, you would be putting people in comas all the time. And that isn't very heroic.[/quote']

A good point. As a GM, if the PC hits the villain with a good smack and the villian is out, the villian is just going to stay out.

Unless you're going to stage the DNPC diving in front of a eye laser when the villian will shoot the hero in the back later of course. But that gets old after awhile.

  9. Re: Odd 2x Stun rule

I have taken (in game terms) significant Knockdown while Stunned and hitting the ground in uncontrolled freefall with absolutely no ability to try and cushion for the impact is very jarring. like *tweet*tweet*tweet*' date=' stars around the head, can't move, somewhere at the -1 to -10 stun (aware but incapable of action) state.[/quote']

Just as a counter point, see my post in the hurt yourself thread. Quick version: Ski accident, I was knocked out by a blow to my head, I skidded a long distance downslope and went thru a barrier. Became consious at the end of it. Major concussion, broken bone, but nothing more or less because I was unconcious.

However, real events aren't going to map very well over.

To me, this was a pointless ruling. I've switched over to all 2x stun effects happening after defenses and will be ignoring this ruling anyway.

  10. Re: Musings on Random Musings

Just finished our cleaning this AM for my wife's party (PSed/added that for those who don't know what I'm talking about)' date=' I reorganized the studio, too. I thought I'd feel great, doing that, but instead I just feel like "well that's done for now," and that's about it. Oh well.[/quote']

Yea. We're at the finishing up bits and while it's nice that parts of the house are clean, I'm a little depressed that parts got to the state they were in. Those dust bunnies are mean!

  11. Re: Musings on Random Musings

    lemming,

I'm really sorry to hear about all the hassles you're going through; I wish there was something I could do! :(

Having been through bankruptcy myself, I can tell you that (unless the law varies from state to state by a wide margin) anything you charged on a credit card for the last 6 months is not eligible for discharge via bankruptcy, so I don't think that bit would work vis-a-vis your student loans.

Hah! Thought that loophole wouldn't exist. That's good to know about the six month thing, need to check the state stuff a bit more closely.

I do know that there's some sort of bill going thru about bankruptcy, but the lawyer didn't know what that might entail once it goes thru. Most likely harsher rules.

And I forgot, zornwil wasn't going to make the party due to other engagements. No b-day treats for him then!

  12. Re: Musings on Random Musings

Hey, congrats re Jenn! Is this something that she'll want to keep as compared to the other (Utah) opportunity? I would think that the other job would still be the more desirable one, given the interest, but unsure.

Re Citicard, I do wonder if there's a "magic phrase", some legal phrase, you can use with them when they call. I'm sure, as you point out, this is harrassment.

Too much going on for you guys, at least a little is good news for a change. Good continued luck.

Well, the Utah one would be more desirable, but heck I don't know what we're going to be doing.

On the rest, meh. I need to get cleaning for tonight. CYL.

  13. Re: In Real World Terms...

Heh. One of my first bricks started life at 40/40 full resistant.

Other bricks could hurt. Body didn't happen much. He's the character that went to 1000 xp. I think in all that time he took body less than 20 times (yes, I wrote it down. I also wrote down everytime he was missed. 8 dex)

Real world items, hmm. Not too many out there. Antitank guns, but you were talking about common in a city. Best bet are trains & trucks or some other large bit of transport.

Now if you're trying to do body, well most items just aren't going to until you get into the serious military hardware.
