Re: My little pointy friend
Here's how Mike Surbrook built Stormbringer:http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptationsbook/mm/stormbringer.html
He is the pro.
I see he bought everything except the stats through OAF. I see the rationale for stuff usable by other the item itself can't use (it can't wield itself), but why other powers/skills? You can't take them away from the sword itself -- it IS the focus.
Would all skills be bought with the Focus limitation as well?

Re: What were: the best Marvel titles of the 80's?
While I was back in the States last I discovered that my mom had kept the copy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles No. 2 I bought when I was 13.
Upon rereading the comic, I can say that it was NOT one of the best comics of the 1980s.

Rework the main plot of Pulp Fiction.

Re: Deaf, Dumb, and Blind
Whoops -- thanks for the info McCoy. This was supposed to go in the Hero System Discussion forum. Sorry y'all.

A followup to my Pointy Friend thread.
The AI I'm building can see and hear through the senses of others (Clairsentience) -- and ONLY through those senses. Would you count this as a Disad? If so, how much?
Are AIs assumed to have senses to start off with at all?

They were roommates, man! Don't be naive!

Re: PA hero interest: Life Without People
And given how the documentary ended. Nevertheless, I got to create a religion based on the worship of the 4 Gods of Rushmore.
I read a sci-fi story recently with this very religion.

Re: Lowish-powered Supervillains
Have Dr. Destroyer hire them.

Re: My little pointy friend
I'd still say to buy the Intelligence as an AI with OAF' date=' but if your GM approves it this way, then fine.[/quote']I'm worried that might be abusive -- if I were to buy the OCV and DEX bonuses as part of the AI, Usable by Other, for instance -- since (I think) AIs are bought for 1 CP for 5 CPs in the AI, like vehicles.
(I don't have a GM at present...)

Re: My little pointy friend
OK. here's what I did.
I got the character a bunch of powers bought OAF or Variable Limitations (-1, usually OAF; -1/2).
I bought the intelligence as a contact.
I bought a Mind Link, costs END, with the contact. (Do I need to make the Contact role to Mind Link with it?)
Then, to represent his communicating with the intelligence and its senses while in combat, I bought him increased DEX, SPD and Levels OAF, Linked to Mind Link.
How does that sound?

Re: Why horses?
giant flightless birds might have made a good option if they hadn't all died out...Don''t they have hollow (easily breakable) bones? Could be a problem.

Re: Deep Medieval RPGing
Um' date=' no, not really - not if you use it to mean the period of time between the fall of Rome and 1066. Which is basically the time period of my re-enactment club. Although if there is a new politically correct term, I would find it amusing to know what it was.[/quote']The PC term for "Dark Ages" is "Ages of Color."

Great, thanks guys. My little pointy friend and I thank you.

Re: My little pointy friend
Oooh Sean, sounds complicated to me. The Evil Black Hole Demon Thingy will probably never be directly encountered, given that Black Holes are probably based on at least as many points as Mechanon (really). WhatWouldn't I have to buy the Black Hole as a Follower?
-
Re: My little pointy friend
OK. Is an AI assumed to have the regular human assortment of senses, or does it have to buy them (given that it is a conscious hunk of metal and all)?

Re: My little pointy friend
I want the sword (gravitic glaive, actually) to be generally helpful but actually have its own dark agenda, unbeknownst to the player (me). He doesn't realize the intelligence powering his gravitic glaive-thingy is actually the malevolent intelligence of a Black Hole communicating to him through a singularity link.
(I love pseudo-scientific babble.)
So I suppose AI it is. I've never bought one. Does it take the focus limitation, or what?
-
Re: My little pointy friend
Sure, but how do I buy the thing for my character and limit it so he has to drag it around? Follower, with a Physical Limitation?
-
Get your minds out of the gutter, people!
If I want to build a sword, or any other object for that matter, and wish it to have its own intelligence and personality, how do I do this? Can I buy a computer and then purchase it OAF?
(Hmmm... Thinking with the Little Head, Not the Big One: Computer, Activates Only in Certain Circumstances, Side Effects)

Re: "Down-to-Earth" special powers
The character of Rain Man was built on an autistic individual...using medicine perhaps you could have him maintain a much more normal social interaction level but retain his incredible mental abilities.
Man, you so just gave me a character idea.

Re: Telekinesis
Okay, I am working on a mentalist and I want to give him TK.But I am unfamilar with the full workings of alot of things in hero. So..
1. If I use TK to "Grab" some and suspend them in the air afew feet above the ground. Can they break free somehow? If so how? Besides putting a bullet throw my brain.
Illogical as it may be, they can breal free using Strength.

Re: Certain gods in real-world pantheons
I don't think "god of evil" would have made sense to an ancient Greek. Hades is more "god of death." His counterpart in Egypt would be Anubis, not Set. IMO.
