  1. Re: Tome of Magic Conversion They're types of magic in 3E, not spells. It just barely was released - I wouldn't expect anyone to have converted it yet.
  2. Re: Like a Defender from City of Heroes Not us ForceField types. *grumble*
  3. Re: Foxbat: A place in your campaign? Seriously, Foxbat Beyond? Ha!
  4. Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did Ugh, Civil War.. Can Marvel please stop retreading DC's crossovers? Identity Crisis, Identity Disc. Planet Hulk/Annihilation/Civil War? Well, Planet Hulk's a bit different, but the others sound a bit like Rann-Thanagar War and OMAC Project. Especially at the root level.. "Let's have multiple, related crossovers going on at the same time - let's have one to keep the heroes on Earth busy, one for the space types, etc." And the reinvention of the Avengers to include Spider-Man and Wolverine, to more closely mirror the 'big names + writer favorites' feel of Morrison's Justice League... Young Avengers (which is a great book, don't get me wrong) following on the heels of the relaunched Teen Titans. It just seems like, more and more, Marvel's become the House of Borrowed Ideas. Am I crazy?
  5. Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did Vext. Captain Carrot. Hourman. Ambush Bug.
  6. Re: Your personal comic book origins I learned to read with the help of All-Star Squadron and Justice League of America around 1980-1981. So they're my point of origin. Batman, World's Finest, Superman, X-Men - got some of these starting early, too.
  7. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat "We're giving your book back to John Byrne." NT: Unusual items in Batman's Utility Belt.
  8. Re: [Campaign] Third Eye Investigations Updates to this thread will resume, soon, honest, I just haven't had time to transcribe the notes while at work lately. We wrapped up the campaign two weekends ago - the player base having dwindled due to Ellan's player never really getting back into the groove after her return, and Raven's player having to deal with his yen to GM again.
  9. Re: DC versus Marvel: different styles Johns's run on Flash was fairly iconic. Morrison and Waid both had solid JLA runs in recent memory. Dan Slott is building a dynasty with She-Hulk. Mark Waid's current run on Legion will go down as one of the classics, I think. Love it or hate it, Bendis left his mark on Daredevil. And still writes Ultimate Spider-Man as far as I know.
  10. Re: DC versus Marvel: different styles I definitely have a DC bias. I like my heroes larger than life. I've collected a lot of Marvel over the years, too - but with Marvel I find the characters interest me less, in general. I think most of them are too whiny and introspective. DC's just got a better sense of fun, in general, though the recent dark times have begun to tarnish that a little. Still, unless they kill him in his reported cameo in 52, DC has Ambush Bug.
  11. Re: Dive for Cover Variant So if I leap into the water, I can get the one with the hologram and the artist signature?
  12. Re: "Look, up in the sky! It's Super Saint!" Christian-themed heroes I will admit that one of the NPCs I considered having cameo in a Silver Age game I ran was a Christian fellow on powered roller skates, which attached to a backpack fusion generator that used Holy Water. He was the Holy Roller, and his slogan was "The power of Christ propels me!" I thought better of it.
  13. Re: Working on New Constantinople
  14. Re: Concepts you wish your players would play More proactive characters would be nice in all my games.
  15. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat ..because Infinite Crisis #5 came out this week!
  16. Re: Stats for Indiana Jones. I don't seem to be able to easily find it. I think it's around here somewhere, though.. You could go straight to the source and ask Darren Watts, though.
  17. Re: McDowell County, WV - plot seed If oil is black gold, what does that make coal?
  18. Re: McDowell County, WV - plot seed Of course, while your PCs are in WV, in addition to the Indian Mounds, they might have an early encounter with Point Pleasant's Mothman. http://www.prairieghosts.com/moth.html
  19. Re: McDowell County, WV - plot seed Ah. Matewan. Interesting movie, but having grown up less than 20 miles from it, it wasn't quite as cinematic for me.
  20. Re: Stats for Indiana Jones. I'll see if I can dig it up.
  21. Re: You know your PCs have an Image Problem if... Their licensed comic books are being written by seven artists with delusions of grandeur. .. What?
  22. Re: Stats for Indiana Jones. I have a character sheet for Jones himself, from a Pulp All-Stars game run by Darren Watts at Origins last year. That's all I have though.
  23. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Wolverine, because he can't find a book he's not in. NT: Rejected comic book titles.
  24. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Thanks. I am intrigued, though all my villains are on Protector at the moment, and I don't think I have the sourcebook detailing Eurostar.
