  1. Re: Titles for your character Reinard The Fox is basically known as that after the newpapers have reported many sightings of the toon fox. They simply called him that, much like how in the Spiderman Movie, Jameson made up the name "Green Goblin." Sonic Eagle has no titles yet, mainly because I have yet to actually play him in any games. Kitsune is another character not yet being played. And with no titles. Lab Rat also has no titles yet. I can't really think of one. K. Dogma would probably be known as "The Most Dangerous Dog on Earth" and "The Dog God." Now for a few from my Capes & Claws setting: The Sentinels would have the following titles: Psyon: "The Psychic Sentinel" Bounder: "The Canine Quickster" Paladin: "The Knight in Powered Armor" Tesla: "The Electric Lass" "The Mercurial [or Unusual] Morfox" Pan, child of darkness (vampire lord with a 10-year-old's body) Lady Tiamat, The Draconian Sorceress Alexander, Emporer of Neo-Macedonia, The Conqueror
  2. Re: Lineage of Champions To provide an example, I will use my Reinard the Fox character, and chronicle parts of his lineage, presenting only a possible future for him. Reinard (real name: Renn Fox) is a cartoon fox with a much more serious outlook than one might expect. He came to earth in pursuit of the fugitive Lyle Lynx. For more information (and to keep down the size of this post), please refer here: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46981. His Methodology is mostly Silver-bronze-agish as far as Champions goes. In 2018, he may have captured Lyle Lynx and managed to get him back to his dimension and in to justice. The cyberpunk Era in the cartoon dimension from which Reinard came would feature a great deal of "dark humor" to it. Reinard's daughter, Marian Fox, would end up as a detective, with her father's sense of the relative. Basically, not much change at this point. When the cartoons go to the stars in around 2295, they will ultimately discover new levels in strangeness. Marian's descendant, Jason Todd* will actually have not become an authority figure in criminal justice, but instead will have become an adventurer. Jason's thirst for understanding the much broader universe will inevitably lead to a much lighter outlook than either ancestor. He might best be described as a fluke in the lineage. Basically, no real connection to the Terran Empire at this point. *Joke intended. I said to have fun! In 2984, The Earth universe will have discoverred a cosmic rift, placing access to another dimension. When "First Contact" becomes established, many races will most likely regret it with these animated oddballs. Decended again (another daughter) in the Reynard line in the family Tree, introducing Rhenee' Reynard, who has continued a carreer as an adventurer, but with great forces threatening the galaxy, she focuses her thrillseeking escapades on protecting innocent people. She'll refer to herself by her current family name, and is thus known widely as Reynard. She's little more Warners*, but with a strong ethical sense (can't be causing TOTALLY random meyhem. Someone undeserving could get hurt) and with the historical dedication to working for the betterment of others. Of course, all the gadgets will only make her a greater force to be reckoned with. This is not a good era to be a threat to the galaxy. ^.^ Animaniacs, in case you are curious. And there you have it: An example. Not the best, but an example none the less.
  3. My brother just got Galactic Champions and I was fascinated by the 3000 versions of some of the older Champions Characters, like Defender 3000. However, I became curious about something: What would the Cyberpunk version of Defender be like? Or the Terran Empire Pre-GC? So I figured on presenting a possible task. This task makes the following assumptions: *The Champions Era is the modern Era, or earlier, up to the 1930s. It ends at around the year 2020, when magic goes away. In this Era, the characters are ovbiously as powerful as average superheroes. *The Cyberpunk Era is from 2020 to 2297, when the Xenovores invaded Earth (Terran Empire, Star Hero). Characters are of Heroic power level. *Glossing over the Xenovore wars, The Terran Empire is from 2397 (end of the Xenovore Wars) to 2703. Characters are of Heroic Power level in the Terran Empire. *Galactic Champions is the year 3001. Magic has returned and Superheroes have returned as well. Characters are incredibly powerful in Galactic Champions, about twice as effective as a Champions Superheroes. *If your character originated from another dimension or planet, and made it back, you are charged with decribing things from a "Back home" standpoint. This means you describe how the character's homeworld may have changed with each Era. The task is to begin by describing your character (Who is s/he? Attitudes? Methodology in being a hero?) in the Champions Era. Then name and describe a descendant in the Cyberpunk Era, what would s/he be doing? How would his/her attitudes and methods differ from their Champions ancestor? Do the same thing for a Terran Empire descendant, from either the beginning of the empire to when it declined into corruption to was overthrown in 2703. Again, how is the descendant different from the Champions and Cyberpunk ancestors? And finally, present a descendant for when Magic came back to the universe and thus began the dawn of a new superheroic era for Galactic Champions. What differences are their from his/her ancestors of the previous Era? Due to how long these posts can potentially get, there is one additional rule: 1 post, with this lineage arrangement, per character. We are not looking to create character sheets here, so do not worry overly much about points. Just try to get a general feel of the "power level" of each era. And, of course, there is one final thing OF ABSOLUTE IMPORTANCE! Have fun. EDIT: If you need any details about the HERO Universe, and do not want to make up some of your own details, I am not an authority. You would do better to ask the HERO staff.
  4. Re: Foxbat Went a Courtin'.... Well, Dance might be a part of the High Society Skill. Why? Well, in rennaissance France, some positions of Nobility were granted based on how well the noble would dance ballet. According to Jason Leisemann, we are not too far from that tradition.
  5. Re: Villian: Bad E. Wolf Actually, there was a scene in Looney Tunes: Back in Action (not bad compared to Space Jam, but it SO could have been better) Where the Acme Chairman telephoned Wile E. The Coyote still had to use signs, I recall. Don't ask me to explain the physics. It was part cartoon. Of course, whenever Wile E. went after Bugs Bunny (like in "Rabbit's Feat"), he did talk. Maybe he just prefers not to talk and instead uses placards for some reason. Who knows? Who can look into a cartoon's mind? (It is Ironic that I can't, because I have a toon character)
  6. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) America's Funniest Home Videos HERO On a Very Special HERO (Ironclad's granddaughter is born, and Defender is still baffles how that happenned. Oh, and Takofanes is touched innappropriately.) (NOT LIKE THAT YOU SICK PERV! )
  7. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Erick Wujcik HERO (mostly because it's depressing being the only person on Earth who can make a good game using Palladium.) EDIT: So Depressing, in fact, that White Wolf would probably use that as a premise for their next game.
  8. Re: [Possible Game] Furry Heroes Though a TMNT-style world wouldn't be a bad thing.
  9. Re: Villian: Bad E. Wolf Well, were diminsional travel more common in the world Reinard found himself in (back in the original comic book idea), this might make another interesting villain idea. Granted, the "summons" might work out better as low level transforms ("air to Placard with writing" or "Air to Parasol")
  10. Re: Twisted character idea... Sorry. My bad.
  11. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Some strange toy-line made kid's show crossed with a VERY adult anime and manga: The Littlest Petshop of Horrors. Now for a conceptual nightmare: Hamtaro as Golgo 13. (a little self-referential humor for those on the Dark Champions board) Back to title mixes: FATAL Attraction
  12. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Obese pantless HERO Let's go all the way. Obese Naked HERO (+100 PRE (100 active points), only to cause fear (-1) (Real cost: 50 points)
  13. Re: Foxbat Went a Courtin'.... As Led Zepplin put it in "the Immigrant Song"... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AH!
  14. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Pantless HERO
  15. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares In the version I remember (pre-special edition, BTW), Leia didn't just watch impassively. She did cry out, "NOOOOOOOO!" Of course, that's my memory.
  16. Re: Character: Reinard the Fox Thanks. I hope to have good luck with him.
  17. Re: Twisted character idea... Admittedly, I never heard of Boo the Hamster. Nor did I ever play Torment. But thanks.
  18. Re: Foxbat Went a Courtin'.... And now for some scary thoughts (though we might want to watch these) Foxbat Foxbat Returns Foxbat Forever Foxbat and Vixen (Foxbette just did not work for the movie title) Foxbat Begins (the best movie of the bunch, followed by the original)
  19. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Hero Machine Now to add more genres: RaHoWa HERO (HERO version of the game most likely to make one ashamed of their ethnicity (if white): Racial Holy War) Teenagers From Outer Space HERO (Putting it in HERO makes it lose part of the appeal: Simplicity)
  20. Re: Character/Villain: Flagburner Certainly a good Iron Age idea.
  21. Re: Twisted character idea... I still don't know why I got this idea.
  22. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Oh. Thanks. If I ever find such things, I'll be sure to save up.
  23. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) What are Shrinky-dinks?
  24. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) To be fair, any RPG, Even D&D, can be played with three-dimensional characters. All it takes is putting a little work into character creation, to create a character rather than a combat mini. Unfortunately, one of the problems found in complex character rules is the eventual "The he** with this! Let's just go for fights because this character business is too much work" realization. Especially when you run into so many instant-kill effects that it no longer becomes worth it to create anything but a half-@$$ed list of numbers. The same problem can also happen in HERO, or any other game with great amounts of complexity. Adam "just taking a neutral perspective" Leisemann
  25. For those curious about my avatar and one of the characters I keep pulling up in the WWYCD threads, here is the character for your perusal, Reinard the Fox, a.k.a. Renn Fox Background: Renn Fox was once a police officer from another dimension, and he worked for the department for a good long time. What wasn't taught at the academy, he learned through experience. One of his friends on the force was a scientist named Lyle Lynx. Lynx did the labwork while Renn did the feildwork. This worked for a few years, but eventually, Lyle dissappeared. Since then, for three years, there has been an increase in organized crime. Renn's last mission on his world was to apprehend the new crime boss responsible for the sudden increase three years ago. When Renn made it to the last known whereabouts, he found the racketeer. It was Lyle Lynx, who had just finished a device that opened a portal to another world. Renn got ready to apprehend the criminal, but Lyle resisted, leading up to a physical struggle between the two. The struggle has sent the two of them through the portal, but Renn and Lyle have landed in differrent areas. Powers/Tactics: Reinard is a living cartoon character (á la Who Framed Roger Rabbit). His powers are pretty much based on cartoon physics, which in some cases don’t always work. In combat, his tactics are generally to evade and strike when the opportunity is open. When such an opportunity is not open, and he’s cornered, he will probably do his best to strike and make the best with what he’s got, at least until he’s no longer cornered. Appearance: Reinard the Fox is a skinny cartoon fox at the height of 5’4â€. While back in his home dimension, he would have worn normal clothes like anyone else. However, since he was forced into the human Earth, he was forced to scrounge for clothes. When fighting, he wears a short leather button-up jacket with an inside wool trim and a pair of blue jeans (which, by the way, are optional since (anime and adult art aside) cartoon animals generally don’t have indecent bits that are visible) for the purposes of keeping some facade of decent countenance. Over that, when in public, he wears a concealing trench coat and a large hat over his head to conceal his features. Personality and other factors will be decided as I get the opportunity to play him in the current campaign.
