  1. Re: WWYD: The Perfect Partner (potentially controversial) I've done some reading. The whole point is: there are very few truly original stories.
  2. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares I always thought Willy Wonka's chocolate factory was a good place to stage a horror game. Wonka has always been so creepy, like Micheal Jackson after he decided to be white. And why stop at movies for cross-genre HERO gaming possibilities? Hamster Horror HERO Maybe even make some bad puns too. Moral Kombat (every 20 years, Ministers around the world gather to beat the living ba-Jesus out of each other. I know, long ****ing way to go for a joke.)
  3. What mixed-genre premises would you find disturbing? Here's an example: "Mel Brooks and Akira Kurosawa collaborating on one movie." (Mixing Ninja Hero with extreme doses of comedy) Let's see what ideas you can come up with? Edit: This was just something that came to me totally at random.
  4. Re: WWYD: The Perfect Partner (potentially controversial) Only seven truly original plots. Every story writen since then has been a variant on one of those seven.
  5. Re: When Champions Begat Warning: Thread-Drift, in response to FenrisUlf Though I am working on a game idea that is all about anthropomorphic supers in an anthropomorphics-populated world engaged in the usual supers fare. Right now, though, getting a good system to publish it in is a real bother. HERO isn't OGL (and rather intimidating to beginning gamers), FUDGE requires specialized dice, Mutants & Masterminds is rather baffling at points, and Silver Age Sentinels costs boku bucks to write a setting for. I've looked at ways to make my own system, but they fell through really fast. And don't get me started on the system found in Brave New World. Though I would love to get an anthro-game going someday.
  6. Re: When Champions Begat Lab Rat is only 16. Way too young to be having kids. However, I envision his future daughter would be an obsessive tech genius with an appearance between Kangaroo-Rat-Furry and Human. Of course, it is a mystery how geeks can reproduce despite their incapability of attracting a romantic interest. Okay, I can see how FATALites do it, but decent geeks, that's another issue. Kitsune will certainly wind up with a child just like her... Or possibly wind up with Quantum Kitsune for a daughter, provided Crosshair Collie approves. Sonic Eagle will likely end up with a mutant son with powers either similar to what he got in the chemical accident or something totally different. Reinard the Fox is already married in his home dimension, and just might have a kit waiting for him if he ever gets back (depending on how long that takes). He will be unable to provide much in the way of raising the kid given his job as a cop, but he will do his best to raise his son or daughter. How s/he will turn out is pretty much an unknown. K. Dogma will rely on eugenics to get himself a pup, and make certain that s/he will be capable of running things when he passes away from old age. (for those who don't know: K. Dogma is basicallt a canine mix of M. Bison and Doctor Destroyer.)
  7. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Tsk, tsk, tsk... You missed "Flaming." It's Flaming Flying sharks that explode. You see, the sharks are coverred in Napalm as they are fired out of the rocket launcher. Then they fly to an enemy and bit. The flame sets off the C4 in their stomaches, causing the explosion. So there *has* to be a flaming element.
  8. Re: WWYD: The Perfect Partner (potentially controversial) Well, since some folks asked about specific features of the Perfect Partner, here's a list of them: *Modular Design makes it possible to swap out body parts for tools (ideal for some chores) or to swap out a damaged part for a part in good condition. And other possibilities do exist and are perfectly viable. *Durable Frame beneath realistic synthetic flesh and skin ensures that it will feel no different from a real romantic partner, while enabling you do do anything you want to it, no matter how rough. (6 rPD/6 rED) *Ideal Programming means that it has no selfish desires or wants, but is instead psychologically capable of devoting everything to you. It is completely incapable of selfishness, but it can interpret your requests to best suit you. *The Contract is a set of encoded laws that guarantees complete loyalty to you, and you alone. The Perfect Partner will never cheat on you! For those who cited various television programs, I do not watch Futurama (I avoid anything by Matt Groening), but the idea did come from reading reveiws of Chobits and Mahoromatic. I switched genders because mysandry is somehow more acceptable than mysogyny, despite the fact that both are wrong. (It probably has something to do with our mysogynistic history.)
  9. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Now my brother is looking to make Johnny Xtreme for the HERO system. *Puni Puni Poemi sourcebook: Insane, kinda-funny-kinda-tasteless first ep, but the second and final ep is just plain tasteless. *The Sourcebook Of The 100 Longest Threads of the Hero Games Discussion Boards: With every post from those threads... *Detached Body Part HERO: See this thread: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44986 *White Wolf HERO: Would that be the VILLAIN System? That's kinda what you're forced to be in those games.
  10. Re: WWYD: The Perfect Partner (potentially controversial) Realistically, I can also see such a thing. In fact, that would actually be more marketable. Unfortunately, I was writing this when I got an idea for a story where a woman who was having trouble with men ordered for such an android, only for the android to learn that love is more than just a man trying to please a woman, find her a real male who can give her what she truly needs, and eventually being released to an unknown future of soul-searching. Realism wasn't quite on my mind at the time. I am sorry for not thinking it all the way through. Fair enough. I am fairly certain that limitations would abound. For instance: the android lover doing everything to make you happy is a nice idea, but it gets frustrating when you can't please him/her because there is no programming for wants and desires for the robotic lover. I can imagine that this would depend on the laws. If androids are a new phenomemon, then new laws will have to be written regarding the situation. I am no expert on robotics, so I would not be building anything like a Perfect Partner. Of course, I would be interesting in seeing what ethical concerns would arise from the situation.
  11. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Muppet HERO Bedridden HERO Perfect Partner HERO (see here: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46661) Profanity HERO Xtreme HERO to the Max! (with stats for armored bears that have rocket launchers that shoot flaming flying sharks that explode.)
  12. Here's a question of "what would you do?" The situation presented is purely ficticious. As it involves robots, I figured it would be most fitting here. Recently, a major corporation has announced something for an exclusively female market: A line of androids known as Perfect Partners. The purpose of the Perfect Partner is two-fold: To be a domestic companion and to be a 'romantic partner.' The explanation offerred is that "women in marriage are forced to endure the problems of men; their constant cravings for sex, their inability to understand anything outside of 'sports-speak', and their uncanny tendancy to pass anything out as 'woman's work'. Women should not have to live with this, and we beleive the Perfect Partner is the perfect alternative." This is starting to stir up a little controversy. Many argue that this is a good alternative to the problems present in a real husband, "and if you want kids, just go to a sperm-bank." Some also argue that this whole thing is founded on mysandry. And the lines are not drawn at gender. Some men seem to think that "Men do have the stated problems. Some women can't stand that. The ideal solution seems to be this, at least for heterosexual women." Some women argue that it can't be a good replacement for a man:thumbdown , or that it is wrong to have a romance with a machine. There are many other veiws presented as well. And now comes the questions: 1) What would your stance on this situation be? Why? 2) If you are female: Would you buy a Perfect Partner? Why? 3) If you are male: Would you recommend a Perfect Partner for anyone? Why? Remember: This is you, not a Star Hero character. Though if you want, you have my permission to present this situation in your game.
  13. Re: WWYYCD: The Rally Lab Rat would probably have sided with the guys who were against the Klan. When the attack is over, he will look for any indication that the attack was staged by the Klan itself as a publicity stunt. He might even inspect the ones who attacked for any microchips that the Klan may have planted for Mind Control Sonic Eagle will not have been involved in the attack. He will have mostly tried to defend the bystanders, but maybe bring aid to a Klansman: but only because a hero cannot be partial to one side or the other. Reinard the Fox will have been with the police and working to minimize the damage overall. However, he will be perfectly willing to call it a publicity stunt. Kitsune: "The Racist @$$holes brought it on themselves." She will have had no part in the actual violence, but will do nothing for the Klan.
  14. Re: Scooby-Doo Cthulhu No. Something more "personal." Though I have to say this: The drug-culture jokes are DEAD people... They're so far dead that they can't even rise up as zombies! Okay, ranting done.
  15. This thread is intended as a just-for-fun mental challenge of applying unusual character types in a particulat genre. In this case: A horror Speedster. In the Horror genre, the most important ability is the ability to get out! Create a 50 point competent normal on the theme of speed. No Experience points allowed, because you are creating a starting character. Follow the Competent Normal Guidelines in FREd. There are no wrong answers. Have fun.
  16. Re: WWYYCD: The Rally WARNING!: "CREATIVE" INTERPRETATION I know for a fact that the KKK is all about racism. In some of these responses, "racism" is expanded. This is not intended to offend anybody. Sonic Eagle has this little maxim: "One's rights only go far as long as they don't infringe on anyone else's rights." He'll keep out until the Klan starts actually breaking the law; which is inevitable given their track record. (Why KKK would be against him: He's African-American.) Lab Rat would do best to keep out as long as he can. He's a mutant, he does NOT look human, and the KKK are some of the nastiest folks in American history. Of course, if push comes to shove, he'll act against these bigoted cretins. (Why KKK would be against him: He's a mutant, and does not look human.) Reinard the Fox at this point has no clue about the KKK, so he'll probably do some research to find out more about them. Once he finds out exactly what sort of people they are, he'll wait until they start doing some damage, and he'll get in to stop them as best as he can. (Why KKK would be against him: He's not even human.) Kitsune would use her charisma to stage protests against them. Afterall, if they have the right to speak against civil rights, then the decent folks have a right to speak against these racist pigs! (Why KKK would be against her: She's Japanese, shinto, and a woman. That's three minorities there.)

  18. Imagine if: X-Men met Excel Saga. X-men and Excel Saga make sweet love. 9 months later, Excel Saga gives birth to X-Men's baby. And Satan walks by. In short: Imagine the Unholy offspring of X-Men and Excel Saga. What do you think it would be like?
