  1. Here's a thought I've been mulling over:

In the 1930s, the "Pulp Era," there was the origins of Sword & Sorcery fantasy, with heroes like Conan, Kull, and Bran Mak Morn (among others)

Also during that time, and in the decade before, you've had lots of adventure stories and crime stories as well.

So it occurs to me that by combining Howard's contemporary era with the fantasy of his tales, there seems to be a couple of possibilities...

1: Globe-Trotting "heroes" traversing the world and dealing with Derk Sorcery. An example might be a group of Archeologists fending off ancient demopnic evils and trying to prevent the horrors of the past from entering the modern world, sometimes having to get blood-soaked in the process.

2: Thompsons and Sorcery. What if the Alcohol trade during the Prohibition era was an attempt to fund research into the forbidden? Imagine Elliot Ness and the Untouchables having to deal with Demons as well as Capone...

Just a thought of mine. Have you any thoughts on the concept of Pulp Contemporary Fantasy?

  2. Here's a thread to ask questions about silly abilities to build with the HERO System rules. Here's how the game goes:

One person presents a silly ability, and a point budget (Base + Disads). A reply from someone else must then create the build and then present it, followed by an offbeat ability of their own that they want to see built under the HERO System Rules.

    To start off the thread:

Detachable limbs and head (cartoonish portrayal of such an ability) (150 point character (75+75)).

  3. Re: You know the GM has it in for you when...

    Thanks for that mental image.

:drink: The goggles, they do nothing!

It's a common joke apparently for Takofanes to be in "relationships" or at one point, touched innappropriately.

But not like THAT kind of "touched innappropriately." :D

You really want to avoid his dominatrix.

And now back to the actual thread.

  4. ...In your first adventure, you have to go toe to toe with Doctor Destroyer... and you're playing the PS238 RPG.

...Every enemy you face has Drain on resistant defenses (20d6 at least) and killing attacks (20d6 at least).

...The campaign's big-bad can not only kill you in one strike, but ressurect you and then kill you again, all in one action, just to rub it in that he's superior.

  5. Re: This is Stupid...

Meg Giles is the furry artist who first used the term "air sacs" to describe avian breastage, as far as I know.

If you look on various furry art sites under the name "Dustmeat" you should find her stuff, sooner rather than later.

    Ah.

I was telling my brother about that theory, and he pointed out another alternative: Helium in the breasts.

  6. Re: This is Stupid...

Meg Giles fan' date=' are we?[/quote']

I don't think I ever heard of Meg Giles.

I just took the term from Wikifur as it was a joke explanation for why avian anthros have breasts when realistically, they shouldn't.

  7. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares

I may just write that one. Of course' date=' first I'll have to finish [i']Oh Rasputin! Or, Hurry Up And Die Already[/i].

(Yes, I really am working on such a thing. For real.)

I don't know if I should be impressed or scared.

  8. Re: This is Stupid...

Clothing-Optional Girl Woman! An orphan raised in the wilderness who does not understand the necessity of this artificial skin you call "clothing" and who shimmies out of hers at least once an issue. She flies too' date=' despite a really enormous pair of, um, [b']aerodynamic inefficencies[/b].

    (Bolding is mine)

    Those are "Air Sacs." :P

  9. This a a campaign possibility that I probably will not run. It is presented more or less as a gag.

    "The Awful Avengers!"

This is not to be confused with any teams from Marvel Comics.

Inspired by Fenrisulf's "WORST Decade in Marvel Comics" thread, this idea came up.

(Enter film trailer voice, starting up the music)

In a world that represents the very worst of Comicdom, where hope is beleived to be non-existant, where the plots are written by emo-twits, and where politics rule over quality writing, there is a need for heroes...

Who will those heroes be? Gun Toting Vigilantes? Mutants hunted by every redneck in the world? Former heroes who make a deal with the Devil for just "One More Day"? Veterans of the Civil War? Maybe Clones with their own Sagas to forge...

Whomever they are, they shall be known as...

    The Awful Avengers...

    Rated MS for Marvel S***.

    (Back to normal)

What would you want to see lampooned in a campaign like this?

  10. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat

Having to deal with scandals of an NGD Congressman who simply got arrested for the nervous reflex of tapping his foot, not knowing that it was supposedly some obscure invitation to restroom-stall sex.

(Seriously, who the heck makes up this stuff about inviting folks for that?!)

NT: Wierd scandals on the Hero Games forums. (Please present as a headline.)

  11. Re: Who bought a copy of Omlevex by Spectrum Games?

My brother bought it. I read it. I think it'd be great if more care went into the write-ups. It kinda makes me wish I could actually read the Omlevex comics (Shame they made up that company.)

But then, I look up to Cynthia Celeste Miller right along with the folks at HERO games.
