  1. In a self-contained universe it can make sense that Cap would have a 30 BODY. But when you try to "port" that character into cross universe material it does not make sense that he would have that 30 BODY. As far as I know there are only 5 characters who have a 30 BODY in the CU (Dr. Destroyer, Grond, The Monster, Takofane, and Gargantua at full growth). It does not seem logical to me that Cap is in that range as well. I also have a feeling that Cap would die just as quickly from a shot to the heart as the next guy. Cap's main ability is to keep from getting hit through skill and the shield, not because he can absorb a lot of damage, IMO.
  2. My Cap would probably look something like this: 30 STR 30 DEX 30 CON 20 BODY 18 INT 24 EGO 50 PRE 16 COM 15 PD 12 ED 7 SPD 12 REC 60 END 60 STUN
  3. Also keep in mind that Champions was written with the pre-OHotMU superhero characters in mind. No one would ever consider Thor to have a 60 STR just because the handbook lists him at 100 tons. If Champions had been written after the OHotMU then it is quite possible that the STR chart would have had a different design, possibly with 100 tons being somewhere around the 90-100 range. As far as Hercules pulling Manhattan, George McDonald was often fond of saying if you don't see it done 3 times in a comic book its not really part of the character. It's just writer's artistic license. I did find it interesting that the original handbook did give Hercules a higher STR score than Thor. Judging by that alone I would probably give Hercules a little extra. Unlike Agent X, I do not like to exceed the 100 STR threshold too often, so in my games Thor has a 95 STR and Hercules has a 100.
  4. Prince Marus is already a good copy of Namor, from what I have guessed so far, so I do not think we need both a Namor and an Arthur. It might be interesting to see a bastard son who is an Aquaman clone trying to retake Atlantis though. I think that brings up an interesting point as well. I use several homages within my game, but I have tweaked them form comic books. For example, I have a female villain group called The Sisterhood whose members are Crow, Amazon, Landslide, Starlight, and Ward. These are all renamed female members of the Teen Titans. So it might be interesting to see some homages where a comic hero is a villain or a comic villain is a hero in the CU.
  5. I'm also using the Factor Four from Freedom City as villains in my CU game.
  6. I also have fond memories of Enchantress and Executioner. I wouldn't mind seeing them pop up some where in the CU.
  7. I think that would be a much better idea for a player's character. I wish some of my players would think up things like that!
  8. They are the GLC in ideology but not in powers, but they are the GLC homage by intent.
  9. I think everyone needs a Superman. We are also missing some god-heroes (Thor, Hercules, etc). I know there are two of them in India, but that doesn't help us in the US. As far as villain homages, I would like to see Gorilla Grodd, some Atlantean villains from both Marvel and DC, and Juggernaut.
  10. I just use the verion DOJ posted to their website 2 years ago. It's also possible there will be a newer version published in the Gadget book in a few months.
  11. I have never used the OHOTMU STR stats for anything. The only relevancy they have is just in deciding who is stronger than who. I've seen Sasquatch lift ground oil tankers back into the water. I've seen Sasquatch throw a 747. I've seen Gladiator pick up the Baxter Building. I have seen Ironman and Thor pick up and move Avenger's Mansion. The 100 ton limit on STR caught as many writers for Marvel by surprise as it did fans.
  12. By straight-forward I mean a game which does not normally allow characteristics above the NCM. There a many people who only play the game by not allowing "normal" heroes to ever go over 20, no matter what the reasoning. There are superhero characters who have the NCM Disadvantage. They are not common, but they do exist. I personally save that Disadvantage for characters who use focuses to augments characteristics (Ironman, for example). I would not normally allow it on a regular superhero because I do not think a 20 stat 4 SPD character would survive long in the CU. As for Cap's stats, I use the guidelines in Champions for the Champions Universe. My Cap would be along the same lines as the example Agent X sited.
  13. I'm not sure if I would allow the raspy voice DF. I think once you see the character you already assume he will have an unusual voice. To me it would be more of a DF if the character had a proper british accent or somesuch.
  14. Cap's stats are in direct relation to whatever power-levels you are using in your game. In the Champions Universe he would probably have 30 STR, DEX, CON. In an Dark Champions game those stats will be in the 25 range. In a straight-forward game he would be given the 20 stat maximums. I will point out though, as I always do in threads such as this, that NCM does not mean Maximum Characteristic, it just means the point where people are required to pay double for increased characteristics. It does not mean someone with NCM cannot have a 30 DEX, it just means they must pay 60 points for the 10 over 20.
  15. Why would you say that? CE with 5 levels of temp decrease will take water from outdoor temp to about -10 degrees in one second. Freezing Water: CE 1" radius, -5 levels temperature, megascale: +1/4. Total Cost: 21 points Something like this could even be a power-stunt on an Ice/Cold Energy Blast. A 12d6 Ice Blast would allow for an 18 point power-stunt, and could easily be a 21 point or more stunt if the roll is made by -1 or more. Your version would certainly work, but since few characters in a normal game have more than a 12d6 attack, it would take them forever to freeze even the 1 hex of area.
  16. I would put a -1/4 Limitation on the drug stating it has a "maximum value." What I mean by this is that a drug which Aids 4d6 to CON will add +7 CON to someone with an average roll. So you put a Maximum Value of benefit of 27 (20 for a human maximum and 7 from the addition in this instance). So from one use a normal might go from a 10 CON to a 17. A 25 CON super would only go to 27 because of the Maximum Value Limitation. The Side Effect would still go off though, even if the character did not gain any value from the drug. I would probably look at building a drug as follows: Health Boost: 4d6 AID to CON, Delayed Return Rate 5/hour, Maximum Value (27 CON): -1/4, Does Not Work If CON Roll Failed: -0, Side Effect: -5 CON for 1 day after effect has wore off if CON Roll is failed: -1/2
  17. I would just do this with Change Enviroment, with several - Temperature Levels (the more levels depending on how warm the water temperature.
  18. Re: Re: Re: Re: Tax Cheats R Us... That is a great write-up! I am definately going to steal that for something!!!
  19. Re: Re: Tax Cheats R Us... Yes. "Hey, you! I'm gonna make you an offer you cannot refuse. Buy Hero Games books or..."
  20. Re: Tax Cheats R Us... Yeah, I can see it now: we send DOJ a check for $1.50 and they send us back a check for $1.00 (handling/postage fees). Then we write-off all our DOJ books for the year (20*25.00 = $500.00!). I think that will work. The IRS will never notice such a thing.
  21. So if DOJ pays us each $1.00 to playtest, we can write-off $500.00 of game books a year?
  22. You're an industry professional. You are not supposed to "buy" books. You are supposed to "trade" for them!
  23. Re: Random Game Questions You are assumed to have lockpicks, or you can use non-standard items with a minus to your roll. You can also build "improved" lockpick by buying +1 or more to the Lockpicking roll with an OAF Limitation. You buy the computer with the power of Radio Receive/Transmit or High Range Radio Hearing. You are supposed to purchase a Mega-Scale sense Linked to your Mega-Scale teleportation. You can also buy those locations as Fixed Locations if you want to spend the points. Really a GM's call. I would allow it because COM does not affect to many things to often. Any help would be great. [/b]
  24. Check out the UNTIL Superpowers Database. Rogue's power is in the Miscellaneous Powers section.
  25. You do not need the Cumulative Advantage as all Transforms are cumulative by nature. Continuous would work fine though. I personally do not see what the issue is with just blasting them though. You could just as easily build a 1d6 Penetrating Continuous RKA with a Metal Only Limitation to show how you can crumble any metal object, not just cars. The transformation seems too limited to me when just applying it to vehicles.
