  4. Re: New to Fantasy Hero ***WHINE*** I said it fiiirst ***END WHINE*** No but seriously it bares repeating. I had hero and had no Idea where to start with a FH campaign until I read through this site.
  5. Re: New to Fantasy Hero Ummmm... What SE would that be?
  6. Re: New to Fantasy Hero Welcome! Fantasy Hero rocks. The best thing I can do for you is reccomend the following resource: http://killershrike.com/FantasyHERO/FantasyHERO.aspx It also helps a tone if you com from a D&D background, but is even better if you just ignore you background and use the content fresh.
  7. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER My point exactly.

  9. Re: Akashic - Memory Possession - Arcana Evolved You guys are too Awesome! Thanks! I'll post the final modifications to the Akashic If anyone is interested. Probably with a few more notes on the powers to make it easier to understand their purpose.
  10. I have pretty much modeled the Akashic in full from Monte Cooks Arcana Evolved Campaign. However I am hitting a wall with this ability. I am not sure if I should transform the mind of the akashic, summon the memory of the creature in to the Akashics Body and call it SFX. It is quite a powerful ability, but not excessively so the Ideas I have tried come out to expensive. Official d20 desc: Memory Possession (Su): The akashic can absorb the memories of any intelligent creature who is alive or who has ever lived for 1 round per level. During this time, the creature’s personality takes control of the akashic’s body. Akashics use this ability to allow their allies to speak with and ask questions of the possessing memory (often that of an ancestor, absent friend, or other wellknown figure). If the possessing memory seeks to say or do something against the akashic’s will, the akashic may attempt a Will saving throw (DC 20) to prevent it. This ability can be used once per day. Simplified description and my Idea. The akashic absorbs the memories of any intelligent creature who is alive or who has ever lived for 1 turn for every point the Akashic Meditation roll is made by. The absorbed personality takes control of the akashic’s body. If the possessing memory wishes to act against the akashic’s will, there is an Akashic Meditation or EGO contested roll. The Akashic can only stop the personality from acting, it can not force it to do something it does not wish. Important Note: This is not the Actual person but a copy of its mind and personality. It knows, acts, thinks and has the same motivations as the mind it copies but any effects upon the mental imprint do not affect the actual creature. Any help Appreciated! P.S. I have attached the prefab file for the other Akashic powers I have modeled so far. Please comment liberally.
  11. Re: Sorceror/Wizard 3.5 Spell Conversion Personally I think the Idea behind MM being a Summon instead of a direct attack power is an ingenious mechanic to say the least. Though it is a bit complex it emulates Magic missile beautifully, though I agree an always hits thingy is too much for any system. I have seen very abusive things done with it in d20. Still its an Icon! so it MUST LVIE Great work guys. I really wish I could spread more rep!
  12. Re: Cleric 3.5 Spell Conversion Ok, I did not understand that at all HM, I must have missed my PER roll as well as my Deduction roll. Going by the description: "Any opponent attempting to strike or otherwise directly attack the warded creature, even with a targeted spell, must attempt a Will save. If the save succeeds, the opponent can attack normally and is unaffected by that casting of the spell. If the save fails, the opponent can’t follow through with the attack, that part of its action is lost, and it can’t directly attack the warded creature for the duration of the spell. Those not attempting to attack the subject remain unaffected. This spell does not prevent the warded creature from being attacked or affected by area or effect spells. The subject cannot attack without breaking the spell but may use non attack spells or otherwise act." Any opponent attempting to strike or otherwise directly attack the warded creature, even with a targeted spell, must attempt a Will Save.Mind Control or powerful Presence attack "don't attack me (unless I attack first)" triggered(auto immediate reset, only triggered once per creature) by and against anyone who tries to target the warded creature with an attack. Since it hits and works as often as necessary for the duration of the spell - Lingering (what ever time you set) [*]This spell does not prevent the warded creature from being attacked or affected by area or effect spells. The trigger already covers this as it only affects those targeting the warded creature directly. [*]and it can’t directly attack the warded creature for the duration of the spell. Continuous/Persistent (for the duration of the spell or until warded creature attacks)? [*]Those not attempting to attack the subject remain unaffected. This is why it should be triggered against those that actually attempt to attack. [*]The subject cannot attack without breaking the spell but may use non attack spells or otherwise act. Spell ends if creature attacks [*]UBO - It is usable by one other. High for a level 1 spell). It only affects one class of minds: Total Cost: 30 Sanctuary: Mind Control 10d6 (Humanoids class of minds), Usable By Other (+1/4), Trigger (Activating the Trigger is an Action that takes no time, Trigger resets automatically, immediately after it activates, Trigger can expire (it has a time limit), Character does not control activation of personal Trigger; Only once per target; +1/2), Lingering up to 1 Turn (+1/2) (112 Active Points WOAH level 1?); OAF (Divine Focus; -1), Set Effect (Do not target until this spell ends; -1untilloes Not Provide Mental Awareness (-1/4), Incantations (-1/4), Gestures (-1/4), Limited Power May only affect a given creature once per casting (-1/4), Limited Power Spell ends if warded creature attacks (-1/4) More in line with a 1st level spell, simpler construct (Might be pushing it a little) also affects more opponents. The main disadvantage of this one is that it is very dependant on circumstances: Total Cost:7 Sanctuary: +30 PRE (30 Active Points); Limited Power It only affects a target once (-1), OAF (Divine Focus; -1), Set Effect Lets not attack each other for X time (-1/2), Gestures (-1/4), Incantations (-1/4), Limited Power Mental Defense Applies (-1/4)
  13. Re: Cleric 3.5 Spell Conversion Ok, my take ons actuary is that it is NOT a protection spell. It doesn't prevent damage and preventing targeting senses only makes it harder to be hit. The whole Idea behind Sanctuary is that oponents refuse to attack the caster, (The will saving throw strengthens the fact that it is a mental effect). I would use a large bonus to PRE only for "Do not atack me", Ego Vs Ego. Something like this: Sanctuary: +20 PRE, May not attack directly The effect ends if caster takes any obvious aggressive action (+0) (20 Active Points); Limited Power Only to command "You shall not harm me" (-1 1/2), Requires An EGO Roll (RSR Skill is subject to Faith vs. Ego contests; -1 1/4), OAF (Divine Focus; -1), Spell (-1/2), Incantations (-1/4) Or a Mind control AoE but it would need to be to costly and affect to many mind types, and be continuous and automatically end if caster attacks. But honestly I feel it is to clumsy.
  14. Re: Cleric 3.5 Spell Conversion Don't want to be the pointing finger guy, but just catching some stuff as I read through these. Isn't Aid already usable on others? The other two parts need it though so they are fine. John
  15. Re: Cleric 3.5 Spell Conversion Wouldn't delayed effect (-1/4) be more apropriate? instead of lingering. Lingering allows multiple uses, once each phase while it lingers, delayed effect lets you cast and use later one time.
  16. Re: Cleric 3.5 Spell Conversion All three look good to me. and if your aim is to emulate d20 as close as possible it feels right. For domains (unless you want to be a stickler to d20) I would suggest allowing a multipower for a domain with the spells in it as the feel is that clerics should be expected to cast more frequently from their domain spells.
  17. Re: Cleric 3.5 Spell Conversion Ok. We need to hire Thia a secretary to free up some of that time. Lets pas a hat around
  18. Re: High power magic (Brainstorming welcome and requested) This is excellent. If it is common for a spell like this to be in effect on spell casters, even if they all don't have it, people will think twice about our tight killing a spell caster. Perfect for worlds where spell casters are rare. Imagine the chain reaction of one spell caster dying if you have a high population of spell casters that have this. It would be like popcorn. Kaboom end of civilization. However if you remember limitations need to be limiting. So 1 charge never recovers for a dead person is not limiting. Irreplaceable focus is not limiting either. However considering the focus, disintegrate mage is probably a very common spell. Unless I am mistaken a leap automatically allows for a safe landing as long as you land form the same hight you leaped from. Best to use flight UAA Forgive the new guy... I didn't quite get that... This is excellent. Though there still are many ways around this, it is an excellent start. You can have formation units trained with a special skill while working in unison. Such as Magical Resistance Training Skill If you specially train units that works cohesively where there is at least 1 element per X(5 suggested) AP. They make a Skill vs Skill Roll or just a straight skill roll with AP penalty to resist any spell with an AoE that includes at least 10% of the unit (This makes obscenely large units to resist every single spell just as dangerous as no unit at all). Very much like a trained Spell Resistance (such as the **oh no he is going to say it** d20 system has) based on unit tactics. Justified as the will of many vs. the will of one. Just an Idea to make combat units effective and more than just cannon fodder. True but at least it gives them a fighting chance again. It also means that mages need to sacrifice more of their learning time to learn sneaky tactics and additional spells instead of just sticking to *blow them all up* spells. Also attacks are at least partially mundane now so they can be stopped by mundane means (however spectacular they may need to be). I hadn't heard of this but its good. So all spell casters have a Suppress (up to highest AP power) all other mages magical abilities AoE, Always On, NCC.
  19. Re: Magical Trap trigger blinder/activator OK got it so knowledge runes is the way to go then. After reading around the skills and knowledges section a bit it is much clearer. But most runes are charge based either recoverable or non recoverable, so setting off a rune reduces its charges but doesn't permanently dispel it. So suppress is a better way to go, using the same suggestions you gave me for dispel.
  20. Re: Knockback/knockdown/KNOCKUP?? Thanks thats simple enough to remember with out having to go to tables or a rule book. LOL I knew something didn't read just right on the title. Thanks everyone for all the cool Input! I will actually be able put this together I think. JAWS
  21. Re: Disabling a Phisical Manifestation Power with transform drat, Thats my love hate relationship with Hero system. There are so many ways to do one thing it is awesome, but it can get a bit daunting. Especially when costs vary greatly but the result is the same.
  22. Re: Knockback/knockdown/KNOCKUP?? Strait forward, and was pretty much what I had in mind but didn't know if it was rules worthy. , I was hoping the whole conversation wouldn't take this particular meaning for knocked up when I posted it. happily it has been quite useful.
  23. Re: How to get swords on your starship You may be on to something there! Awesome Idea. I know this guy. Lucas something whom I can probably convince in to making some movies about it. It would be around this PC I though of that is really evil but cool, he is with the ninjas but is more like a samurai with cybernetic implants due to terrible burning when he was younger by his mentor. A real epic Prodigal father story.
  24. Re: Disabling a Phisical Manifestation Power with transform Awesome.. Thanks!
  25. Re: Disabling a Phisical Manifestation Power with transform So you are saying it could be part of the SFX of the suppress to erase the text, carving, what ever?
