    The Defilers

Re: The Defilers Or a Phys Lim: Multiple Personalities with limited mental defense only vs Mind Control? Seeing as he doesn't really change forms.
  2. Re: Character out of balance Checkmate: I'm not so sure I'd use the word "woefully". Haerandir: Ever since OzMike committed this atrocious pun, people have been slipping references to Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love" into discussion. I wouldn't say 'atrocious' either I'm just runnin' at a different speed
  3. I once had a character who pretty much had this ability as a GM handwave because it fitted in with his plots and machinations, but I'm wondering about the options I could use to build it now. My character was (literally) an alien-robot-son-of-the-gods who was more than 5 billion years old. Thing is, whenever he died his consciousness would download into one of his spare bodies that were scattered throughout the multiverse. He'd then wake up fully aware and fly back to wherever he needed to be (it was never fast enough to join the current fight, but the first time it happened I joined in the middle of the next one. The villain who'd killed me was surprised). There was never a hard and fast number given, but the GM implied that is was practically unlimited and more subject to mental jamming which would delay, but not entirely prevent, the download process... So my question is: How do I build this now? Oh yeah, and secondary to this was that not all of my bodies were exactly identical - they had different powers and abilities (mainly because the first time I died I had no idea of this GM handwave, except he told me at the end of the session "Don't make another character"). Thoughts? Also this is pretty similar to Spartan from Wildcats' old download ability...

    The Defilers

Re: The Defilers But he recurred, and GR2 was a founding member of one of the Defenders' incarnations... and the idea you're getting is pretty cool. I say run with it

    The Defilers

Re: The Defilers I like them, especially the background/stories, but am going to hide them from my current GM I want to use them against him when I run something again instead. Any other members? How about riffing on Ghost Rider or Hellstrom?
  6. Re: Character out of balance Or that they don't know the system.... I remember some of my earlier characters did exactly the same type of things with powers and limitations. Didn't stop the GM whupping my behind every session though - strangely enough, he had more points to spend.
  7. Re: Character out of balance How about "Addicted to Love"? Might as well face it....
  8. Re: History of the Super-Soldier Serum (need suggestions!) Oh I don't know - Dr Death is a pretty cool name. And it works better with those ownership apostrophes....
  9. Re: History of the Super-Soldier Serum (need suggestions!) How about a failed attempt to recreate the metagene bomb which led to the infamous 'Night of the Living Dead' event in 1968? An event which has been duplicated at least twice more... As far as an antoagonist for the release of the bomb... how about one Dr Albert Zerstoiten (spelling?). Or Fu Manchu? And why not have the history of the serum stretch back to Paracelus? Other experimenters could include (from Wikipedia search for Mad Scientists) Francis Galton Dr Ishii Shiro Trofim Lysenko Sidney Gottlieb
  10. Re: What pre-5th Edition Hero books do you still use? Classic Enemies, 4th Viper, Classic Organisations (Well, the Russian Stuff), Strikeforce (Strictly speaking that's 3rd).
  11. Re: CHA: Kai Sun - Fist of Heaven Was a purposeful decision - after all would only have cost 5 pts more to remove that from the multipower. I figured that they are like 'special' moves that require precision footwork to be pulled off. Also means he doesn't use them as often, which is a bonus because that would be about 20 END a turn. Plus they are more surprising too
  12. Re: Crossovers.... Social awareness or 'relevance' was the comic book movement of the time... Or you could make it a legacy game based on the golden age game. Make each player pull a different character out of the hat and make a character who is in some way related-to, inspired-by, named-as, or powered the same as the relevant character in your golden age game. Make different players pick different characters.
  13. Re: Paramount city But all Hydra knows is that there is something of value in the bank, and so raid the safety deposit boxes. Little do they know that locked away in an old box is a book, a book of tremendous power, one whose wards of protection and seals of eternity have just been broken... and what was trapped in the book is finally free. A chance to chuck something big and nasty at the players, plus you could get DEMON involved if you wanted. Maybe they even engineered the robbery because the protective spells would allow them anywhere near it. Only those without knowledge of what they were taking and opening could break them.

    Killers

Re: Killers The way to deal with this horse is to set a couple of boundaries: They are all cops. Even give them a free policeman package - they've been through the academy. Give them a badge. Even give them an equipment pool. Have the public love them and rely on them - free reputation. This is all the carrot and sugarlumps. Players like carrots and sugarlumps. But make sure they take the necessary disads to go with the policeman package like subject to orders and watched. This is the bridle. Then check their psych lims and ensure that they have one 'heroic' motivation in there so that there is a game mechanic to enforce good behaviour if you need to. Make them answer the question: What makes you a hero? This is the bit. Let them make their characters, but remind them that they are cops, and not like the ones on The Shield. If they do the wrong thing, there are consequences. This is the saddle. And if they try to do anything way out of line, remind them of the consequences and that they are cops and that it is probably against their psych lim so they'd better make an EGO roll if they really want to kill that newspaper boy. And always remind them of the carrot. Chances are they'll think about it and change their minds. And if that doesn't work? Shoot the horse.
  15. Re: Normals w/Abilities vs Supers [Offshoot of CSL vs MA] Or if they had spent 100 pts to have 1 million more of them....
  16. Re: (Fun) Character: The Named Extra Like it. Lots. Rep. Rep. Rep.... Hey, does anyone else think that "rep rep rep" sounds a little like those Martians from Sesame Street?
  17. Re: [Wanted] Lots of old sourcebooks I think Surbrook's stuff has the re-written European Enemies too... might be mistaken
  18. Re: Normals w/Abilities vs Supers [Offshoot of CSL vs MA] We, as GMs, can always say "No". Pretty powerful word that:D .
  19. Re: Character limitaions: Another CSL vs MA Inspired thread The only limitation I place on the character is that they at least define their Everyperson skills and have a clear concept. Origin-wise I did have to limit a player who continually made what were effectively D&D characters for each game I ran (e.g. Made a wizard with the bulky spellbook, made a fighter with Autofire attacks, each one was from 'a different dimension' that sounded suspiciously like the D&D game world). I said try not to make a fantasy character... he made a Star Wars character.
  20. Re: Sure signs that your player doesn't want to be in your 350 pt champions game. They make a D&D character for it, in the Palladium system.
  21. Re: Combat Skill Levels vs Martial Arts It's like it's all growed up
  22. Re: Real World Stuff That Only Sounds Like A Comic Book
  23. Re: New Group and I'm Nervous. What if there were more mutants than the 3? And what if some of them weren't that nice? Then it's rescue plus protecting the crew.
