  4. Re: What "Pulp" have you read lately ? Thanks. And, as much as I love the smell of books, kindle ftw.
  5. Re: The cranky thread Funny story. I went to a civil war reenactment with my friends Herb and Wes. I have experience in living history and small reenactments of European conflicts. However, this was my first Civil War reenactment. Anyway, I'd forgotten about a pesky allergy to wool that I had when I was 6 years old. Guess what? you don't outgrow that. Civil War uniforms? Made of wool. Benadryl, the last available hotel room in Pickwick, Tennessee, and a good shower ensured I survived the experience. I viewed the rest of the Battle of Shiloh from the sidelines. Also -- all the mud.

  9. Re: What "Pulp" have you read lately ? I just picked up "Doc Atlas" and "Return of the Grey Seal" for my kindle. I've read all of Doc Savage, the Shadow, the Spider, the Avenger, and Fu Manchu. Any recommendations?

  11. Re: What "Pulp" have you read lately ? I love Sax Rohmer. In the sea of Yellow Peril stories he was an island of progressive thinking and compelling writing.
  12. Re: The cranky thread Is this where we start the "First World Problem" thread?
  13. Re: Social Club of Outstanding Adventurers (or some less absurd) A personal favorite for many years. Rule 34 still makes me giggle.
  14. Re: Champions 1st edition I always assumed that Lirby Koo was some sort of attempt at an anagram name (possibly Kirby and Lee).
  15. Re: A Thread for Random Videos Agreed. I was expecting the Green Lanterns
  16. Re: A Thread for Random Videos Because I want to see the mad Russian Santa Claus
  17. Re: Social Club of Outstanding Adventurers (or some less absurd) Excellent suggestions. And I have been mining tvtropes regularly.
  18. Re: Champions 1st edition If you're running it in the style of 1st Edition (as Tasha mentioned) don't forget the Geodesics, surely the oddest name for a group of villains.
  19. Re: Champions 1st edition I still cannot run a campaign without plugging in the Blood somewhere. I love that idea.
  20. Re: The cranky thread I only got 3 hours of sleep last night, so, even though I really enjoy the part of my job where I yell at stupid people, I was too tired to enjoy it.
  21. Re: Social Club of Outstanding Adventurers (or some less absurd) After some discussion, what I'm looking at here is Golden Age Champions posing as Pulp (the transition from the Pulps to the Comics) Quick notes: Characters will be built on 300 with 60 Matching Comps (6th Ed) Campaign will start around 1932 and range up to 1950 Since the Characters are Pulp Themed, the heroes are a big deal as solo heroes. The game sessions will be "team-ups" to address huge events and will allow me to jump events forward by months or years at a time between sessions (as compared to Champions). I want to introduce the concept of metahumanity early with WWI (ala Hugo Danner) Quick Grabs from the Champions Universe and other sources: "Impossible Crimes" from Adventurers Club #5 "Hands of the Strangler" from Adventurers Club #10 "Deathtraps" from Adventurers Club #11 "Autogiros and Airships" from Adventurers Club #14 Raven from SuperAgents Frankenstein Mob from Masterminds and Madmen Skymaster from Masterminds and Madmen Crimson Wraith from Masterminds and Madmen
  22. Re: A new Enemies book: What would you want to see? Legacy villains. We have Legacy heroes (like the Black Mask), how about a villain who can trace a commonly theme ancestor villain back a few centuries.
