  1. Re: "Back when I started playing Champions...." I remember having only one Hardback gaming book. And it was all we needed.
  2. Re: Richest Man in the World Disease Most characters I have made over the years have had at least 10 pts in Wealth. I like to be able to have a character who can ignore the problems that plague me in real life. Plus, I know that most of my friends don't really think about that so if/when we do get a base I like to be able to explain where the facilities come from. Even the "Taken over enemy base" will be needing some upgrades and security systems installed.
  3. Re: Historical Nexus Points OK which of you were a designer on the Chrononauts card game?
  4. Re: Historical Nexus Points Geez! You guys rock hard! Now I just need to decide which of these fantastic ideas to use. I had no idea what resources were out here.
  5. Re: Historical Nexus Points WOW! Beautiful! You guys rock! All this source info will keep the Hands of Justice hoppin till the batteries in the T.A.R.D.I.S. run dry.
  6. Re: Historical Nexus Points Hmm, eeeexcellent
  7. I have an idea to take my Champions campaign time hopping and was wondering what points in history (factual or fictional) might be interesting for the team to change the outcome of. A couple that I have come up with were to stop the "sabotage" of the Hindenburg or to save or arrange to be captured a young Julius Caesar who was on the run at the age of 19 for not divorcing his wife when ordered by Sulla, a political rival of his father's. I know there are dozens of other pivotal moments that would be fun to participate in. Any other ideas from the great fount of knowledge?
  8. Re: Chimpira's Art Dump Very clean. Nice job! Should be fun to color by computer for one who is artistically inclined
  9. Re: Smith. AGENT ... Smith. Love to see your write-up for The Agent.Might hafta have Agents make an appearance in my campaign.....
  10. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Our group has been tasked with stopping a not so bright Herald of "Big Nasty Galactic Planet Eater Man" from meeting with a group of rogue Saiyans: They decide to use Mental Illusion to pose first as the Saiyans to fool the Herald into cancelling the deal. Then they use the same tactic to pose as the Herald to fool the Saiyans the same way. Unfortunately the Saiyans are somewhat brighter than said Herald so they protest (since it was their deal in the first place) The illusion of the Herald motions toward a nearby asteroid and the player controlling the illusion yells to the Brick waiting behind said asteroid "Keep the Pimp hand Strong!" as he pushes the asteroid into the Saiyans as proof of his power. The group scares the Saiyans away (for now) and they then towed the asteroid to the wilderness of Montana to hollow it out and use it as a base.
  11. Re: SPD inflation obesrvation & solution There are a few perfectly normal people who have a very high SPD stat. If you ever watch some one who does quality control on an assembly line or some such they are acting once per second or so to check every item that passes them. I recently saw a documentary on cranberries and there were people who picked out bad berries at a rate faster than one per second. Just because someone might have a hi SPD stat does not make them an athelete, just superior response time and perhaps a hi DEX as well for the hand-eye coordination to pick those bad berries. In my GMing experience the only people who care about their overland running or flying speed that much are those who qualify as Superspeeders. Our games have escalated over the years though, so that now the average SPD is a 6. Most Agents and such are 3s to 4s. My only problem with this is that very few fights last through a segment 12 REC phase.
  12. Re: Need some help with an upcoming Champions campaign! This almost sounds like one of those teenage angst Animes. Playing in an animated adventure might pique their interest. Nice plot ideas at any rate
  13. Re: The Munchkin Build Contest I once built a Martial Artist whose cloak was so billowing and wispy that he had Darkness in a 1 hex area and Cosmic Awareness which was his advanced Blind Fighting techniques. Never played him, though. I liked the concept but the idea was just too cheesy.
  14. Re: Crude Combined Marvel/DC timeline to use as backstory to a Supers campaign Beautiful! I would love to snag this timeline for use in my campaign. I had more fused the teams together and glossed over alot of the back story. Plus, I don't know my DC history nearly well enough to attempt to combine it with Marvel's. You did an awesome job setting up the world. I hope the players in my group enjoy the world-set you've created.
  15. Re: City of Heroes (Champions of Champion) I still play regularly. I have a full roster on Champion as well as 3-5 characters on most all of the other servers. Global handle is same as both forum names.
  16. Re: PCs are not the most important in the world I'm liking what I have heard here so far. Now my dilemma is what to do with the existing team. There's no doubt that the combined JLA plus the Avengers is capable of dealing with just about anything so I'm not sure that I can just take em out in one fell swoop. Plus I have already had Cyclops from the X-men killed by the Joker for not having a sense of humor and I don't want this campaign to be TOO bloody.
  17. Re: PCs are not the most important in the world One of the most identifiable, special things I set forth about the campaign universe was that all comic and alot of non-comics fictional personalities exist in this world. The Justice League Avengers are the whole world's premiere Super-Team. The PCs are a team thats still really in the process of forming. The roster is still in flux and they have no real leader as such. So far the PCs have met Deathstroke, almost met the Joker, and are currently working with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Who knows who else I may pull out of a hat? MacGuyver? Indiana Jones? I've even envisioned an encounter with the future Emperor of Man from Warhammer 40K.
  18. Re: PCs are not the most important in the world Thanks guys. I have always just left it open but one of the players mentioned in passing at the last session "Where are the Avengers?" So I figured an explanation was coming. Even if its just as simple as a prolonged battle off-planet.
  19. I have a question for GMs. How do you explain the absence of the City's prominent Super Group when your PCs are saving the day? They can only be called out of the city or off the planet so much, right? And when they come back I'm afraid that the PCs will be overshadowed, even if they aren't directly. Suggestions please?
  20. Re: Conversions...City of heroes? I recently started a campaign with some people and one of them wanted to use her Rad/Rad Defender from CoH. Those Rad toggles are nasty as two Supresses, one a PD/ED and the other a Dex Supress.
  21. Re: New Champions vs. The Big Blue Book Wow! Thanks for all the replies. I have the big monster book on order along with the Champions book now. We are set to play this weekend. The Rule of X in the 5E books takes into account Speed?? Very nice. Thats the only thing I had to kinda make up myself since the "other system" didn't make any allowances for Speed. Also, L.L., I have found some very nice write ups for established characters so thats all good.
  22. Re: New Champions vs. The Big Blue Book The Rule of X is the only thing I'm bringing from the other system. It finally made truly balancing Champions characters possible. One other question I've had was: How frowned upon is putting Characteristics as Powers in an Elemental Control if the character has a Mutlipower as well? Of course this may be useless if the new books have another system for doing Strength Tricks like Footstomping and Hand Clapping or other types of cool maneuvers.
  23. I am getting ready to order a copy of the new Hero System rules to play Champions. I have been looking at the boards and other places for stats on Marvel and DC characters and plot hooks and such. My question is this: How much difference is there between 4th? edition characters and new ones? Will my players need to redo their characters before we start? They have never played Champions bofore so I hope I heven't confused them too badly by switching editions. Also, I understand that the new standard for Supers has been upped to 350 pts. We were going to play at 300 with 70 active pts limit but, I'm going to try using "The Rule of X" from the Fuzion Champions system.
  24. Re: Just For Fun: Cartoon Network All Star Team Ups Since we are opening this up to other networks, I'd love to see Samurai Jack finally getting through a portal to bring him closer to his home only to find himself tumbling out of a Chest to look up and see a Ranger, a Thief-Acrobat, a tiny Barbarian, a cowardly Paladin, and a confused Wizard yelling "It's not my fault, Bobby! Uni knocked the Chest over."
