Hey, some o' you all need to learn how to resize your pics. Anywhere from 400 to 500 pixels tall will fit nicely on a computer screen without all the scrolling to see the entire pic. Truly, 'tis a habit well worth learning!

  2. Re: How do you Keep from having your Mind Read?

My 2 cents: Classify your PC's mind as Alien.

Here's why: In 5th ed, it is so freakin' expensive to buy up a Mentalist's powers to affect others characters beyond Human Class minds, that 99.9% of the Mentalists your PC will run into are bound to only have access to the Human Class of minds. Problem solved.

Additionally, those few who can affect beyond the Human Class of minds will have a lower overall effect on your PC, so with a decent amount of Mental Def your PC should be a-ok.

  3. Re: What's the most ridiculous PC you've ever been subjected to?

As opposed to a purple rocky/orange lava bald woman wearing a white one-piece swimsuit with white boots? ;)

    Different strokes. ;)

    Ouch.

Sorry I offended you. Apparently I had and wasn't aware of it. :snicker:

    Seeker!!!

And the name wasn't even taken already!! (At least not on the test server)

    Gee. I wonder why.

No, really, those are super cool. Even if I'm not into the 3D art, I can respect the work that went into them.

  5. Re: Superhero Images

I believe that's a pic of the mini right above it as Mags' avatar.

Hardly. They share a color scheme, is all. But they aren't even from the same team. Magmarock is of V.A.L.O.R. and is a lava-based Brick PC. And Mindscape is a Mentalist who was originally a member of UNIT 1 (back in the day, in a FtF game, she got her head bit off by a demon. The dangers of having armor on a 14-) and I retooled her for a GGU campaign, The Damocles Directive.

Good to see you back in here posting' date=' Magster.[/quote']

    Thanks, Blue. :D

Are those shoulderpads, or are they breasts?

I like the pose, though. Dynamic.

They are her ceramic armour, covering her breasts. Thanks for your interest.

No really, I was trying a dynamic pose. This character is Mindscape, a mentalist. She doesn't fly... yet. (TK and Flight are next on the list for powers to buy)

  7. Re: What's the most ridiculous PC you've ever been subjected to?

Again, this one doesn't seem half bad with just that description.

Know how hard it is to keep a horse in a modern day city? (And keep it alive in super-combat to boot.) I doubt that magic lasso works as a pooper-scooper.

I guess you'd have to see the picture to truly grasp the horrid concept. Let me try to describe it:

White cowboy hat, red flashy western-style shirt (with fringe), blue and white pants/jeans with the white part making it look like he's wearing the underwear on the outside, and black boots. And the shiny gold lasso hangin off his belt.

And he talked with a very bad John Wayne southern drawl, "Howdy pardner..."

    *cringe*

  8. Heya Steve,

I had a new concept shown to me and I want to run it by you to see if it isn't breaking the rules. I checked the FAQ under Mental Powers and also under Power Frameworks, but this situation wasn't addressed [pertinent sections in bold]:

Me, as GM: I looked over your PC and [the PC] is fine but for one thing: The MP is 65 points and the campaign AP cap is 60 points.

He's a solid character. The only thing I'll point out is that with all the ultra slots in the MP, you'd never be able to effectively use the Mindscan in conjunction with your other MP powers (meaning you'd have to shut it off to use any other power, so targeted attacks are out). You might want to move that to your EC, unless you're only planned on using it for finding people. If it is the latter, then you might as well make it an ultra slot, too.

Player's reply: Yes, but none of the powers are above the 60 point cap and, in other campaigns, that's been the determining factor, not the points in the MP pool. The reason for the extra five points is so that he can do a Mind Scan, maintain the lock with 5 AP and still leave 60 AP for an "attack." Of course this is your campaign but as I said the formula and idea have worked well in other campaigns.

GM reply: In all my 18+ years of playing the game, I've never heard of using 5 AP of a Mindscan to hold the lock so an attack can be done. It sounds a bit like a house rule to me. The more I think about it, it seems a lot like a brick grabbing someone with his full STR, then on the next action shifting the grip to only 5 AP STR so he can punch the "grabbee". As a GM, I'd be tempted to allow a break out for that.

Your thoughts, Steve? Would it be legal? I seem to remember something about if you change the AP in a power that you need to re-establish the hold on the target or some such idea. Did that rule get retired? (Or am I mis-remembering... I do that a lot, too!) :D

    Thanks,

  9. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

    Tonight's D&D session.

I'm currently running my group through the 10th level adventure, Heart of Nightfang Spire.

They find this door in the second level of the tower:

    Me, reading from the description:

The door to this champer is carved with skulls, spikes, tentacles, eyes and mouths. Words in Draconic inscribed above the lintel read, "Oggunon Sathaar is interred here. Only fools pass this threshold."

Three of my six players cry out, in unison, "That's us!"

    Gotta love that bunch...

  10. Re: Crucial Help Needed

So, here is what I need... desperately need.

I need to fix my campaign. And I need advice on how to say no to my players. It is just these two players. My other three players are great. I'm just so fed up right now that I want to snap and throw in the towel. And further, it isn't fair to my other players because I'm penalizing them when it comes to XP rewards. I seem to think that because some players abuse XP rewards, I can skim it down for the group. And that isn't fair to them.

I haven't read any of the responses, so forgive me if this is a redundant answer, but I would had a major villain steal her independent focus and use it to kill his character. Have the independent focus be destroyed, lost, or otherwise irretreivable.

Tell them to create new characters that are A) not abusing the rules- in spirit as well as in word, B) that will fit the current campaign (no exceptions), and C) will work both in and out of combat. Oversee the construction of both PCs. Don't allow the PC in the game until they are workable.

If either player refuses to comply, show them the door. Period. To do otherwise is incredibly unfair to the rest of the group, don't you think?

  11. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

    From tonight's game:

UNIT 1 was called to a small town in France, which had just experienced a huge earthquake. A huge amount of damage was done in a small radius but, before we could investigate, we had to help the all of the people who were still in grave danger.

A tall, L-shaped residential building (40") was cracked at the foundation and a wing threatened to break off. Union Jack (Brick) had grown to his full height to better hold the building in place (Atlas style) while Tiger-Eye tried desperately to get the residents to evacuate.

Union Jack's player (to GM): "If it falls, what will it hit?"

GM: "That building over there, but most of it will crumble into the street." But there were people still fleeing the building and filling that street, so it wasn't an option.

Indicating the building on the other side, Union Jack's player (to GM): "What's in that building over there?"

    GM: "That's a government building."

Union Jack's player (to GM): "So it's ok if I push it that way..."

    :D
