The love interest of a superhero will spend years being grabbed by supervillian and being embarrassed when they try to prove the hero really is that nerdy guy from accounting. Finally they'll be together, And a few years later the love interest will learn the universe hates them a their marriage magically never existed.

the love interest of a superhero will wonder what having superpowers is like

  2. It's probably worth recalling that Ozymandias himself is a twisted version of a previous character (Peter Cannon, Thunderbolt). And while that Charlton Comics character is from 1966, he'd really fit quite well into a Golden Age setting.

The original GA Mister Terrific (1942) is probably the GA archetype of this kind of character, which I'm sure Darren was fully aware of :)

And we can all tip a hat to Clark Savage Jr, though once you move beyond the origin and abilities things aren't too similar between the Man of Bronze and the Golden Age self-improvement Paragons.

thunderbolt WOULD tend to fit into the golden age except for his "Leave me out of this" attitude

  3. Silver Age would be Batman '66, Super Friends, and the 1968 Spiderman/Captain America/Hulk/Iron Man animated series.

I seem to recall a Hawkman animated series from around that same time frame.

the Hawkman cartoons were originally part of the guest star segments of the Superman Aquaman hour of adventure
