Plot Hook 1) One of the player characters suddenly has more strength, and is capable of transforming things to suit. An example is a gadgeteer will be able to create tools at will from everyday items with transform. His costume has also changed to a black suit with an earth symbol on the chest. Research tells him the history of the uniform and that something is about to happen.

Plot Hook 2) Heroes learn that one hero has become active in a neighborhood, reappearing within moments after leaving almost constantly. Other incidents start flooding the police and rescue lines, reports of a disaster in the making. Then a city block vanishes.

Plot Hook 3) Mr. Multiverse is one of a number of heroes being honored with a museum. The curator of the museum would like for the players to track the enigmatic hero down and ask him to appear with some of the other retired mystery men invited. Of course, the curator has an ulterior motive of some kind.

GM's Notes- I didn't know how to express this on paper, so I don't know if I did it right. This character essentially has no body to call his own, so goes from person to person adding on to their capabilities, and disadvantages. Some kind of extradimensional trigger could lead to other adventures down the road. Naturally this is a take off of Captain Universe, created for the Micronauts by Bill Mantlo, then given his solo series drawn by Steve Ditko.

I hope this is acceptable and usable by other Gms and players.

Milos Ridavich was a second generation American, growing up in Pittsburgh among the generation of immigrants fleeing the burgeoning power of the Axis. His father was among those working in the steel mills, while he worked as a newspaper boy.

Milos worked his way inside the paper, becoming a copy boy and gofer for the reporters at work. He impressed everyone with his diligence. He started covering stories using a pen name.

Things were looking up for the immigrant's son.

Then came Senator Joseph McCarthy's hearings and the HUAC. The Ridavichs were targeted as immigrants by those that believed they were communists. It didn't take much for a witch hunt to start.

The Ridavichs were ruined by the persecution they suffered. The elder Ridavich suffered a heart attack, and died on the way to the hospital. Milos lost his job, his apartment, everything. He threw himself into the river to drown.

Milos didn't drown, but he wasn't wholly human after that. He wasn't sure what had caused this change, but he knew that he could use it to take up his own crusade.

Milos used his earned reporter skills to target members of the criminal element that had contributed to his fall from grace. His ability to change shape only helped him. Soon he had built a reputation as the Frog Man of Pittsburgh, and the evidence he gathered put many people away.

Joe McCarthy's hysteria was shattered. Cooler heads prevailed, and Milos went back to work for the paper. He continued reporting, even earned a column under his pen name, but he also patrolled the city at night to protect the innocent and gain proof for his stories.

It's said the Croaker retired for a time, only to reappear at the battle of Detroit. Supposedly he was killed. Then he was seen helping to stop Takofones's rampage across the United States. Again he was supposedly killed by the archvillain before the battle was done. Recently two figures battled their way across Pittsburgh. One was described as a ragged clown with a knife, the other a giant frog.

Despite his deaths, every criminal and villain in Pittsburgh still know to beware the Croaker.

Plot Hook 1) Milos Ridavich isn't the first man to become the Frog Man of Pittsburgh. Rumor has it there have been others, many others. Someone has uncovered a burial ground to prove it.

Plot Hook 2) An old villain has returned from obscurity to demand revenge on the city of Pittsburgh and its amphibian avenger. The problem is no one knows where the Croaker is, or how to find him.

Plot Hook 3) The Croaker has been seen more and more, patrolling the city. He seems intent on finding one man, a local gangster named Wally Flud. His agility and speed make him hard to stop for an interview from those who want to know what's going on.

GM's note- This character was obviously inspired by Steve Ditko's Creeper. This is an attempt to insert a hero as a fixture in the CU fifties when the cold war was at its height. Modifications should be easy so the character can be a historical subject, a new hero, or a cryptological subject that disappears whenever someone tries to study it. He might even fit in as a crusty old timer showing new guys the way around town.

"How much longer, Reflector?," asked a nervous man pointing a pair of large pistols at the door he was facing. His attention kept shifting to the man in silver who was working on violating the laser security around the prize they wanted.

"Don't worry about what he's doing," said the other man in the room, clad in a white shell. "Keep focused on your side of the room. The others should be keeping the Streak busy until we're done."

"I just want to get this over with and get out of here before there's trouble," said the pistolero. "I should have gone into demolition."

"Do you mind Heatseeker?," asked Reflector, making an adjustment. The laser array redirected itself long enough for him to pick up the gold and brass head piece they had targeted for theft.

"Let's go," said Reflector, placing the headpiece into a canvas bag hanging from his belt.

"I can't believe you dudes are trying to rob and go," said the Shadow Streak, appearing in the doorway in front of them. "That's so unlike you."

    "Replicate," said Reflector.

The trio multiplied into a dozen men in strange costumes. That made Heatseeker nervous enough to fire his pistols, and all of his duplicates fired with him. The bullets broke apart into micro sized pellets that would follow anyone they locked on.

"Not this tired bit again," said the Streak, disappearing from the room, missiles in tow.

The men in the white shells pointed in all directions, forming a wall around the villains. The solid ice sheet extended into a dome over them. That would buy them some time to get away from the scene. Not even the Streak would search the whole city house to house.

Everything had not gone according to plan, but they still had enough time to make it out clean as long as they didn't panic.

The black clad Shadow Streak ran from the museum room. His powers told him that all of the missiles fired by Heatseeker and his clones were real. Somehow Reflector had made his images into real things. Now the speedster had to ditch them as fast as possible, and get back where this run had started from.

The Streak hit the street, and really poured it on. The missiles sensing their victim was gone, exploded in the empty road. Fragments peppered parked cars, and storefronts, but no innocents were hurt.

The Streak returned to the museum in a moment. He searched the place, but had to admit he had been foxed by Reflector and the rest. Whatever they had wanted from the storehouse, they got clean away with while he was ditching his hounds.

He had a feeling he had not heard the end of this, but he was done for the night. The police had the diversionary team, and were on the way. All he could do was find out about what was stolen.

Then he could try and get it back.

    Background Information:
Ashton Mignola grew up over the state line in Tennessee. He won a scholarship to ASU, specializing in sound. He decided to stay, starting up a research company in town. His career as a vigilante started a few years later after his company started making some modest successes.

Ash discovered that he possessed a sixth sense that led him into trouble. After a couple of bad situations, he felt that he needed to create a masked identity to use as a cover. Since his interest was in sound, he took inspiration from the tall tales of the region and fashioned a flying suit with sonic gadgets built into it.

The Toller took flight for the first time.

Ash became an active hero in the region, using his sonic mastery to overpower those that tried to use the mystic forces in the neighborhood to their own ends. His constant meddling allowed him to gain a mastery of magic embodied in the traditions of the area.

After one mission against the Tree Lurker where he almost failed to stop the giant, Ash began to gather those who would help him defend the Smokies from invaders such as One Other, and the Cat's Eye. The current members of the Asheville Avengers are the result.

He had taught evildoers from all over the area to fear his gong-like cry to battle.

Plot Hook 1) Peace has decided to take a stand against gang violence in Phoenix. No one appreciates her position, or her constant interference on both sides of the law.

Plot Hook 2) Everyone knows Peace's reputation as a pacifist, and her restraint for using violence. The news agencies begin reporting her increasingly violent methods, including putting villains in the hospital. The fear is that she will kill someone in a berserker rage.

Plot Hook 3) War and Peace fall into a trap, but Peace escaped. She turns to the heroes for help in rescuing her husband.

War creates weapons and tools out of thin air. Peace relies on internal abilities and skills. They work well with other heroes who happen to cross into their home field. Their emphasis is on mystical crimes, and trying to devise a method to deal Takofanes once and for all. This quest is what has brought them to the attention of Demon as they compete against Black's forces.

An advantage for the duo is the fact that their mystic aura is only detectable when they are in heroic identity and their heroic identities activate when they are in the presence of magic. That gives them a warning when there is a certain danger around.

War and Peace rarely travel outside their city, but they can and will do anything to uphold their end of the bargain they made.

Cap Charlton smiled tightly as the Q-Man held the turtle ship in his giant hand. Moments later the craft was back in its home dimension thanks to the remote control the Scarab had rigged up. A glimpse in the future had shown him a very public execution taking place.

That wasn't any concern of his.

His concern stopped at the point of the invaders versus the Earth. Anything else was no concern of his. He waited for Q-Man to fly back on board before he headed back to base. Reports had to be written and filed, and the swamp bomb had a place in a secret warehouse waiting for it.

The plane banked gently as it headed for home.

    Relations with other organizations:
The Dimensional Commandoes typically operate on missions dealing with extradimensional invasions. They have limited contact with other heroes, and have established good, but not excellent, relations with those teams and solo heroes they have crossed paths with since their inception.

They have helped foiled several plots by villains like Dr. Destroyer, Mechanon, and the Ultimates, but these are rare occurrences. Their main enemies are DEMON, and Istvatha V'han. A close third is the Sylvestris family of mystics.

The D-Commandoes represent a collection of skills and powers that could be used to hasten Luther Black's summoning of the Kings of Edom. Q-Man, by himself, is a large dose of Qliphothic essence that could be used to weaken the world if his armored shell was broken down. Swithin's luck could be harnessed to change things to go anyway that chance could alter things.

The problem is that Cap Charlton conducts preemptive raids on any DEMON lair that try to gear up to attack his team. His foresight circumvents any trap and allows his group to counter anything a morbane or brother can try to stop them. Several clashes with the Unholy Trinity has led Charlton to believe that DEMON was involved in the disappearance of his friend which has only fueled his obsessiveness to rip away any secret the group possesses.

V'han has become a regular enemy due to covert operations in parallel dimensions. That has led the Council to help set up resistance networks, and provide training for those other places to oppose the empress. This has in turn led to covert strikes into the gray areas surrounding the expanding empire.

These operations are intended to slow V'han's campaign, even though there is no hope of actually dethroning her at the moment. A secondary effect is to protect the Earth from any transdimensional flanking attack that could be used as a loophole in the agreement signed with the Champions.

The feud with the Sylvestris began over Council operatives being killed by Bocal MacFarlane. Ever since then, the Council has done what it could to disrupt any plans that it learns about, which means the D-Commandoes are expected to bear the brunt of this secret war. They haven't been able to strike a solid blow against the clan as a whole, but they have confiscated some valuable resources, and destroyed others. Mister Mist is especially hated by those of the clan who have dealt with him.

The rest of the mystic world have encountered the Commandoes, but this has not led to the enmity that they share with DEMON. It's only a matter of time.

Plot Hook 3: The heroes are present when the Scarlet Scarab tries to stop a villain from making off with an ancient mask. A beam from the mask strikes the D-commando, turning him into a swarm of beetles. Worse, the new scarlet scarabs are voracious carnivores. Theo pulled a bladeless knife from his utility belt after he and Lily touched down. He tried to ignore beams of light trying to touch the drop jet as he pointed the hilt at the hull of the ship he stood on. A series of tones popped open a hatch a few feet away.

"Sonic screwdriver always works," he said, placing the lockpick back in its special pocket.
