Longest Running Thread EVER

Re: Longest Running Thread EVER

Long-haired, folded-ear kitten. The folded ears make it a bit more difficult to read their emotions ... one is used to seeing non-erect ears as a sign of dismay or fright. Not so here. This one is comfortable on the bed if a little sleepy and aloof at the moment.

Finally, one from a couple months back when it snowed heavily here. This fellow sat still long enough for me to get a good picture of him. A minute or two later he was demolishing the suet in the feeder out of the picture beneath him.

Nope. There are enough large trees here that isn't an issue. In springtime they will drum (that is, peck for the sake of making noise) on utility poles and "pole pig" transformer casings, which make lots of noise so they sound like a Big StUdLy WoOdPeCKeR.

I have the impression that the drumming is the equivalent of the latter. I don't know if woodpeckers will go for fermented material if it's available. I know of frugivorous birds that will, but woodpeckers aren't fruit-eaters.
