Bazza
I'm a scientist. I apologize for nothing. So you don't defend science? (Because apologies defend something. Also I dislike the word used to describe this activity "apologetics" yuck. )
Bazza
Revealing the lost codex of Archimedeshttps://www.ted.com/talks/william_noel_revealing_the_lost_codex_of_archimedes?language=en Hugely fascinating video. That they also found a commentary on Aristotle's Categories most likely by Porphyry is of interest to me as I have read Porphyry's Introduction to Aristotle's Categories. Cancer
The word "arrogant" there is redundant. Pariah
L. Marcus
The few fighter pilots I've been around have been far from arrogant. Same with surgeons.
Cancer
The Swedish air force obviously has a very different culture from the USAF.
Pariah
Is military service compulsory in Sweden? And if so, how much choice does one have in one's assignment?
L. Marcus
Not any more -- military service is all voluntary nowadays; the draft was abolished in the Oughties. A shame, that; today's kids could use it. When I was up for testing (way back in '93) I had top score on the intelligence test, so I got to choose: either get trained as an Air Force technician, or as a forward observer for the artillery. Naturally, I chose technician.

L. Marcus
That's good. I've just seen the first few episodes of The Unbreakable Kimny Schmidt, a Netflix show by Tina Fey. Highly amusing. "Rich New Yorkers are the worst!"
Cancer
Interesting proposition, and might even be correct. However, real New Yorkers never leave New York. They don't think it necessary. If they are compelled to by circumstances, they can readily be identified by their kvetching that New York is better.
