Method: This method involves detonating a bomb so big that it blasts the Earth to pieces.

 

How hard is that?

 

"The gravitational binding energy of a planet of mass M and radius R is - if you do the lengthy calculations - given by the formula E=(3/5)GM^2/R. For Earth, that works out to roughly 224,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 Joules. The Sun takes nearly a WEEK to output that much energy. Think about THAT.

 

To liberate that much energy requires the complete annihilation of around 2,500,000,000,000 tonnes of antimatter. That's assuming zero energy loss to heat and radiation, which is unlikely to be the case in reality: You'll probably need to up the dose by at least a factor of ten. Once you've generated your antimatter, probably in space, just launch it en masse towards Earth. The resulting release of energy (obeying Einstein's famous mass-energy equation, E=mc^2) should be sufficient to split the Earth into a thousand pieces.

The Q-36 is a little out of date, I would use the Q-37 Express for that job.

So, who was it that worked up that joules to Damage Class chart? We could easily figure out the DC required to destroy a planet now, and then reverse engineer the "proper" BODY stat for an Earth sized planet....

My chart gives me a rough estimate of 86 DCs. Or 28 1/2d6 RKA.

 

Anti-matter would yield 121 DCs, or 40d6+1 RKA.

I once tried to write up a Tales of the Floating Vagabond superweapon called the Wartoy Implosive Man-Portable Yargonizer (WIMPY for short) that the PCs would have had to recover. At first the PCs were told nothing about it:

 

"What does a Yargonizer do, anyway?"

"It nizes yargos."

"Oh."

 

It turend out that "Yargos" were elemtnal partciles of reality and that "nizing" them put them out of alignment. Nizing the Yargos of an object or being would, to say the least, utterly ruin their day.

A friend of mine in college was utterly dismayed at the TFFV rulebook examples which listed the Mighty Grong and Biff Cantrell. Her last name was Grong, and she shared an office with a gentleman who's last name was Cantrell. I haven't talked to either of them in a while, so I'd have to wonder if they were captured by the Vagabond's door....

Did you really need to disrupt Earth to rubble, or would sterilization be adequate? Arranging for the impact of a 1000-km planetoid would do that, boiling the oceans off (among other things). Lessee, sphere of radius 500 km, density 3 tons/m^3, impact velocity 30 km/s, hm, about 1.4e+28 J. Not nearly so much energy needed.
