Also, there are women on the crew. I imagine they don't have a rum ration, flogging or shillings aboard either. The last few comments were general slurs on naval traditions not reflections upon the professionalism or morals of the Seaview's crew. matrix3
Re: WWYCD: the mermaid Abby: She's not a Mermaid, Jimmy, she's a Siren. Palmer: What's the difference? Abby: One extra hit die and a nicer voice. Ducky: Hmm? Oh yes. And a richer, meatier taste. (Holds up filletting knife which gleams). Perfect. Nice little story, and I like your portrayal of Ducky. Anybody else remember him in Outer Limits back in the day as a Welsh coal miner who was evolved (and briefly devolved) by a professor's fantastic machine? Ah, yes, imdb ( The Sixth Finger ) and YouTube to the rescue.

Ah, yes, imdb ( The Sixth Finger ) and YouTube to the rescue. I remember it. I suspect that Gibbs and company would talk to the Seaview crew first. When they find out the truth, Dinozzo might try to date her. Oh, in either form, she sounds like she's from Southern California.

Trebuchet
Re: WWYCD: the mermaid Zl'f would probably be curious and go over to talk to the mermaid. The woman's nakedness wouldn't bother her; she's very European in outlook with regard to nudity. She'd probably ask questions like "Does it hurt when you change forms?" or "What does breathing underwater feel like?" Justicar is a Roman Catholic priest in his day job. If she's exposing anything he feels she shouldn't he might go over and suggest putting on a bit more clothing.
"V"
Re: WWYCD: the mermaid I love the idea of "European in outlook" towards nudity. I sometimes forget how big a thing it *seems* to be in the US... though looking back over the thread I suppose the clues were there: "There's a half human half fish supernatural being out there!" "Meh" "And she's topless" "WTF!!! Call SWAT!"

nexus
Re: WWYCD: the mermaid I love the idea of "European in outlook" towards nudity. I sometimes forget how big a thing it *seems* to be in the US... though looking back over the thread I suppose the clues were there: I guess the Janet Jackson Superbowl flash fiasco probably wasn't big news anywhere else but here. I would have thought the entire world would have been giggling at the US over that. *whew* "There's a half human half fish supernatural being out there!" "Meh" "And she's topless" "WTF!!! Call SWAT!" I got the impression I was the only (or at least first person to mention it). Tao would only bother because she's exceptionally literal minded and pedantic when it comes to following orders. Personally, she couldn't care less; honestly, she'd prefer to just go nude herself when off duty" instead of bothering with clothing that serves no function. Velocity would be a bit startled but, given her upbringing (and gender) it's nothing she's hasn't seen before. Ivy is in about the same position, she's normally not wearing anything just using her "foliage" to cover up. They'd both advise her to put something on or cover up but it wouldn't be morally offended. Valkeyrie would be pretty flustered and blushing quite a bit though and urge her to get dressed She's in a fictionilized version of New York though so there's nothing illegal about it. Shidoku would be far more freaked out by a fishwoman and wouldn't noticed her boobs are showing for awhile but she's from a street level game where that's would be truly bizarre. The "meh" reaction is somewhat justified for many supers. They've seen supernatural beings before or mutant/metas with inhumans shapes. I mean, according to Steve Long being a mermaid probably isn't worth distinctive features in the Champions U.

Mark Rand
Re: WWYCD: the mermaid I want to be sure you know I'm just kidding around a little in fun. Thought so. Lieutenant Rebecca Nelson, the sub's second officer, does share her bunk with another female. However, this one's Maggie, a calico cat and the ship's mascot.
