Legion of Super-Heroes Package Deals

Has anyone tried to come up with package deals for Legion of Superheroes?

I'm looking for the Flight Ring (of course) but probably more important are racial packages such as:

Daxamites

Durlans

etc

I've tried to do a Daxamite one but got scared by the points...

RE: Flight Rings

Listen, there is a guy down on 210 HERO (Says Gadgets and Gear over the door), apartment 105, now I aint saying anything about nothing, but if you don't mind alittle bit of scratches right where the serial number would be, well just ask for Mr. Long...but you didn't here it from me

In all seriousness, the flight ring would be easy

+XX" of flight

then the distress beacon, By the rules it would probably be images with megascale, personaly I use a few house rules with Mindlink that makes it more appropriate

If you go by the current LSH also a Invisibility to hide from the net

Yeah, the Flight Ring didn't really bother me. It's the racial packages that have got me stumped. At the moment I'm thinking about limiting it to the races which actually have powers (doh!) such as Bismollians (able to eat anything), Cargggites (able to duplicate into three) etc.

Daxamites seem very point-heavy (as if that's a surprise!).

This thread had some info on the rings, at any rate.

U.P. Science Police powers, skills allowing them to fly a Legion cruiser and pilot a time bubble, and maybe some Reputation points for simply being a Legionnaire.

Re: Legion of Super-Heroes Package Deals

First let me say that if I were to run a LSH game I would look at "Hey I'm an alien" as a reasonable origin and wing it from there

As for Daxamite's being expensive...well umm, Yah I figure so...

Or, scaled back to 75 AP caps (just say 'Daxamites in my campaign universe fit the caps' for playability):

Cost Power
Daxamite Powers, all slots Not under a red sun (-1/4), Restrainable (Only by means other than Grabs and Entangles; Lack of anti lead treatments/with lead; -1/4)

40 2) +20 DEX (60 Active Points)
40 3) +30 CON (60 Active Points)
20 4) +15 BODY (30 Active Points)
7 5) +10 INT (10 Active Points)
13 6) +2 SPD (20 Active Points)
48 7) Armor (16 PD/16 ED), Hardened (x2; +1/2) (72 Active Points)
20 8) Flight 10", Variable Advantage (+1/4 Advantages; +1/2) (30 Active Points)
50 9) Heat Vision: RKA 5d6 (vs. ED) (75 Active Points)
27 10) LS (Eating: Character only has to eat once per week; Immunity All terrestrial poisons and chemical warfare agents; Immunity: All terrestrial diseases and biowarfare agents; Safe in High Pressure; Safe in High Radiation; Safe in Intense Cold; Safe in Intense Heat; Safe in Low Pressure/Vacuum; Self-Contained Breathing; Sleeping: Character only has to sleep 8 hours per week) (41 Active Points)

16 21) +16 versus Range Modifier for Sight Group (24 Active Points)
37 Daxamite breath: Multipower, 75 point reserve, (75 Active Points); all slots No Range (-1/2), Daxamite Power LImitations (-1/2)
4u 1) Ice Breath: Entangle 5d6, 5 DEF, Explosion (Cone; -1 DC/2"; +1/2) (75 Active Points)
4u 2) Super Breath: EB 6.5d6 (vs. ED), Explosion (Cone; -1 DC/2"; +1/2), Double Knockback (+3/4) (74 Active Points)
Powers Cost: 435

Total Character Cost: 435

Pts. Disadvantage

25 Susceptibility: Lead w/o antilead, 3d6 damage per Phase (Uncommon)

435-25=410

Could easily fit inside a 600 AP campaign, unless you were building a Daxamite mentalist?

Re: Legion of Super-Heroes Package Deals

With a 75 AP cap' date=' I'd recommend making the STR only +55. To better allow some variance between Daxamites.[/quote']

While I don't disagree, and the source supports your advice (e.g. by similarity with Supergirl vs. Superboy vs. Superman -- I know they're not Daxamites), I might have Daxamites with lower or extra END cost for STR beyond a certain level, or 'reduced penetration'.

These changes would be more significant than for normal humans, where 1/2 END is no saving at all, and 2x or 3x END is barely noticeable overall, and where reduced penetration punches on a human would be much less limiting than at the 15d6 level, while still giving a fair uniformity to the impressiveness of Daxamite lifting power.

I've always been a little ... scared ... of giving characters a STR over 100, although in everything I've seen Superman et al must have a score above that.

I think I'll probably go for a STR of 100 for the average Daxamite. There aren't that many of them in the 31st century after their planet was hijacked by Darkseid, remade in his image and then a few years later totally wiped out by Glorith. Then again, PCs have a tendency to want to play a rare race don't they?

Re: Legion of Super-Heroes Package Deals

I'm not afraid to not give characters 100 STR, at least as straight STR.

For one, sources are often quixotic and contradictory about how strong their heroes are, by lift strength, damage ability, and even where there are official game products from release to release.

One of the Legion episodes cited Superboy as able to 'hold up' around 800 tons. Not lift, just withstand being loaded with that weight. That's only 75 STR, isn't it? Was Superboy Pushing? If he was, that's 65 STR. He wasn't using upward Flight at that point, which could have meant even lower STR. And that's assuming 'hold up' strength is the test for 'press' strength, which it usually isn't.

For another, there are so many ways to build hyperlifting, damage abilities, Bricks with martial arts, Bricks with Find Weakness, the Hoist Skill, rules for converting upward movement to lifting power, Mega-throwing/Mega-knockback and the like, it's not really necessary to overload the raw STR characteristic with what are really not game-mechanic STR, but 'Strength Special Effect' powers.

So, I'm quite comfortable at whatever scale fits the game table.

I was too. But once I passed the 100 STR barrier it was easy enough to differentiate the truly powerful from the awesomely powerful...

in my Else Earth Campaign world, mind you no one has actually played in it since the Late 90's (:weep:), my Strongest character is Herakles; his STR is 125 plus he has another 50 str that can only be used for STR Tricks. (stopping meteors, breaking chains, casual str increase, etc.

Right there with him but without the Bonus STR is Atlas (my Superman Pastiche) and with a smaller bonus Behemoth

Next I have Blackguard, the evil version of DC's Captain Marvel, he clocks in at 120, as does Thor's Son Magni. The Deceased Superhero Powerman was 120; his foe Zepplin was 105 when he was believed killed (Powerman was 100 at the time), Zepplin returned as Zepplin Omega and is 115

A bit further down, Endiku, my Hulk clone is at 100 with adrenaline surges that can get him to 160.

Superion clocks in at 115

Electra is 105

Ultra Woman is at 80.

I've done Legion-like campaigns before, and I've always done them the same way (this assumes a long running campaign). Each player makes three characters, each one on a different point base (low-power super, high-power super, very-high-power super). Periodically, I'd have the players switch out their character. "This week's game is going to require the Legion Espionage Squad." "Today we'll be needed the planet busters"

Here's some more notes on a LSH type campaign: www.herostuff.net/campaigns/c3k/index.html
