RPG World> The players have to go to one of these nicely radioactive sites and retrieve something, watch out for radiation posioning anyone.. did we mention local Russian criminal gang would be watching the site since it is in its territory... Rapier
Re: Abandoned Soviet Nuclear Powered Lighthouse I spent quite a while just surfing the site. Some of those pictures are AWESOME! There are pictures of snow drifts 4 stories high and odd old soviet bits and pieces (the first mobile phone, some tanks, planes, cars, etc). It shouldn't come as a shock, but there were a number of communities and towns that were totally abandonded. Because of the climate these towns are remarkably well preserved and they are just AWESOME! Built totally of wood and still looking in really good shape. Makes me want to hop a plane and go check some of them out!
Rapier
Re: Abandoned Soviet Nuclear Powered Lighthouse "Ivan, did you loot the atomic lighthouse?" "No, vhat are you talking about?" "Will you shut off the lights please? Ivan, why do you glow?"
ghost-angel
Re: Abandoned Soviet Nuclear Powered Lighthouse It's a testament to the idea of nuclear power and the engineers that designed the reactors that these structures were left unattended for so long in one of the worlds harshest climates without breaking down - until humans came back. Beast
Re: Abandoned Soviet Nuclear Powered Lighthouse I'm figuring these where decay piles like what are used on satalites and spacecraft very good idea till scavengers came a knocking and they actually look well built for soviet built equipment(considering the enviroment as ghost-angel stated)
