Wyrm Ouroboros
Re: I'm building a gold dragon on 350 points I don't see why biting a character and holding them would be considered a multi-attack but grabbing define by champions does not indicate one could apply a KA instead of just squeezing. This is why a bought my teeth as a weapon element . A martial artist can use KA to define his attack damage martial grabbing with a KA whip for example Yyyyeah, sort of... not. If the martial artist has a KA weapon that can entangle -- which is to say, something bought that way, or pre-defined that way (the way a whip is, though it's not a KA) -- then yes, he can grab with it. Still doesn't mean you need to purchase 'teeth' as a bloody weapon element; you have the teeth/mouth/tongue as additional limbs ... enh. Not going to keep telling you if you aren't going to listen. that's a shiny quarter and hardly a limitation considering the range modifier from 65 to 124 hexes is -10 OCV anyway I suppose it would come up if the character wanted to hit the side of a barn so I think it's fair. The limited range also adds a physical aspect to the fuel in the fire that could only reach so far be burning out. It certainly is not as limiting as "reduced by range" -1 DC(damage class) per 4" range Well, yes, if you really want to do it that way. (The range, btw, was meant to be Active Points worth of inches, as compared to the regular AP x 5".) If you want to reduce by range -1 DC/4" or whatever, and have a 20" flamethrower, well, you go right ahead. Me and the boys are going to stick with the 45" (or whatever) breath weapon -- which, considering the size of the dragon and thus its DCV penalty vs other ranged attackers, is actually an issue. Also, consider that several of the dragon's attacks are AoE -- and so at the normal range of 225", the big lunk could STILL have a decent chance of setting Target X on fire. A sticky, uncontrolled burning line 15" long, or a cone 12" on a side is still going to roast a lot of something, no matter the -12 OCV on that Hex DCV of 3... bigbywolfe
Re: I'm building a gold dragon on 350 points Generally a whip can be used to grab because it's built with a limited form of Stretching. It has nothing to do with the KA aspect of it. You can't squeeze with a whip (generally). Nor can you use the whip's KA aspect while it's being used to grab. As far as dragon teeth go, if you want to bite someone and inflict KA damage and keep them held, in the same turn... That seems more like it should be built as a KA equal to your teeth damage and triggered by a successful grab, or something... something other than "I get a free KA whenever I grab". Maybe that's not how you see it playing out, but that's what it sounds like from your description.

Many GMs would not require it, but the expenditure of 1 point to do so is well spent if it avoids an argument over the maneuver’s validity. Perhaps 90% of GMs wouldn't care, but if it makes him feel it's legit, cool. Oh - I'm one of the 10% that would make him buy teeth as a weapon element, and Wolverine would have to add his claws, and so on. Matt Holck
Re: I'm building a gold dragon on 350 points The first game went well We had to track down the fairy mythral silver stature that was stolen and wound up in a tunnel that Sunset was unable to fly in so he did the 6" 4 speed crawl. Luckily, the tunnel opened to a large chamber where the villain wizard surrounded by an army of 20 golems had just possessed his new mythral statue. Well, Sunset Opened with a rather weak presence attack as he crawled toward the chamber but Sunset stretched his neck around the corner landing an impressive hay maker fire bolt on the bottom of one that sent the freshly animated silver statue skidding. (note to self: make presence attack after the actual attack) On phase 3 Sunset does a flying dodge into the chamber and the midst of the golem army and draws about 10 attacks with Sunset at 12 DCV 30 defense and 50 stun while the speedsters 7 speed and 10 speed whittled the field and the Wizard. and the fairy princess occupied the the largest dragon man statue. The combat climaxed when Sunset grabbed the wizard in his teeth via stretching. The Wizard teleported away. Side Quote Sunset wondered if he could have eaten the mythal stature and metabolize it into his scales Only to discover on returning the mythral metal through painful biological processes that he couldn't. (no this has not happened yet) anyway, I got 5 experience points

Matt Holck
Re: I'm building a gold dragon on 350 points So taking the 5th, I thought I'd try to lower Sunset's dexterity and buying limited skill levels for his CV values. with the idea of absorbing excess physical disadvantages into limited powers. I lowered the dexterity from 23 to 11 gaining 24 points after speed was factored out I then calculated the cost of the levels needed to compensate OCV 4(8) 10 4 CSL OCV HTH Extra Limbs Required -1/2 Cost End -1/2 (20-1=10) 08 +4 OCV Energy Bolt DCV 4(8) 10 4 Levels DCV not versus ranged reached or move through attacks -1 28 So Sunset can't gain points by lowering his dexterity in fifth edition
Matt Holck
Where is Lady Justice ? Previously, the ICE King had appeared on TV threatening to bury the city in 20' of snow if the people did not surrender. Team Alpha went out to stop this villain and did not return nor did the snow come. That left us "SpeedFreak, Shalee (fiery princess) and Sunset" waiting at their base. Lady Justice had to serve as bailiff in her secrete ID on this day. Finally, the Ice King makes a second appearance showing each member of Team Alpha frozen in ice. Threatens the City again but this time a flying aircraft carrier appears in the sky and bellows a cloud over shadowing the City. Snow begins to fall. The three of us must act quickly when Shalee suggests a stealth mission. She can turn any two of us invisible. Well, there are three of us. So Shalee dresses in white and rides an invisible dragon Wonder Woman style into the storm while an invisible SpeedFreaks runs along the dragon's back, neck tail and wings. SpeedFreak cannot stay still. When we reach the ship shrouded in it's own cload, We saw 2 bay doors and 4 regular doors all closed. The dragon would not fit through regular doors. We considered tearing the bay doors down when the dragon stops short rather liking the invisibility and opts for examine the surface of the ship. He find a pole sticking out of the ship with a large crystal on the end. Sunset reaching down and plucks it off like a club made of rock candy Blue Rock Candy Crystals That's when the cannon turrets pop up (phase 12) Over the mind link, Sunset moves for quick retreat into the fog of the cloud but SpeedFreak is ready for action and jumps onto the surface of the ship striking a turret and the fight is on. We can't just abandon our teammate. The outer defense turns out to be no match for our power and we pull 2 more rods of crystal before the ships teleports away. The city is saved for the moment and we returned to base.
