Re: Animated JLA, 6th Edition

...I would have no problem giving Martial Arts Maneuvers to Thor...but not to Superman (Tower of Babel was seven shades of Bullpucky IMO).

What, you don't think Batman has a Tanning bed lamp in the Batcave modified to put out red solar radiation so he can give Superman martial arts lessons without getting killed in the process? :D

Re: Animated JLA, 6th Edition

Given how often WW's amazing good looks were mentioned in the series I'm surprised not to see a level or two of Striking Appearance. Or does that draw too many points from the important stuff? (All the heroes have physiques only possible in comic books/cartoons, but WW is the only one that gets much attention because of this)

As for the Foci? It is mentioned in the JLU seasons that her defenses come from her armor (made by Hephestus) but as we *never* see her unarmored I'm not sure that a focus limit is appropriate.

Yeah' date=' she even wore it under her three piece suit when she was acting as the ambassador from Themyscira.[/quote']

So...she's a PC, then? ;)

That would make more sense than Supes beating Cobra (who was in Batman's body) with his "Experience."

So I redid Superman. Sorry Hyper but the sense are staying put. I did however reduce the global lims and the MP size. As planned Supes Normaly would have +30 Str, +20m Flight, and +10/10 rDEF from his MP, shifting as needed.

Clark Kent

Re: Animated JLA, 6th Edition

Hey, I'm just trying to help.

So do you plan on building Captain Marvel/Shazam? (who made a 1 episode JLU appearance).

If so, do you plan on using the same general construction as Superman?

If you do you realize, that according to your current Superman build, Cap is only going to get a 5 Real Point discount for NOT having all those 'super-senses'? 36 real points could go a long way towards building the 'Magic Lightning attack' he used in his fight vs. Superman.

Anyway, you might want to change the HDesigner option for the slot:

3f 20) Unlimited Strength: +60 STR (60 Active Points); Cannot be used for Damage (-1/2), Kryptonain (-1/4) - END=6

to not add to STR so his base 40 shows instead of 100.

Another thing to consider.

After a certain # of slots it becomes cheaper to build a VPP.

No offence taken AT ALL, love your comments and I keep refering to yours as idea fodder.

Good catch on the STR, What do you thing of the idea of Unlimited Strength?

Yes, I plan on doing Captain Marvel, probably sometime in 2015 at this rate (Want to do the big 7 first, then a few of my favorites like Green Arrow, Black Canary, & Shining Knight)

good call on VPP: I am a little below the threshold for it to be cheaper, but not by much (3 points, assuming it is a cosmic with the ability to shift 60 Active points and a pool of 72 points)

It's fine, I'm just a bit iffy about putting straight STR (or any other characteristic for that matter) in a framework. It is just too efficient and comes down to a sfx allowance to why some characters have it and others don't (basically the same issue I have with super-senses). This is why I went with Density Increase for my version. He is not literally becoming dense (like Marvel's Vision) when he uses it, he's just focusing his flight Power to enhance his STR and hold a position (via the built in KB resistance). DI uses more END than straight STR so it balances out. Allowing for a higher STR in the character's future is relatively easy. If sticking with a Multipower, just increase create a 'multi/variable' slot up to the Reserve max. If using a VPP, just increase the control cost. Mechanically speaking, I worked hard at restraining the starting maximum STR potential for the character because it is so easy to increase later (if you are building the characters with the intent on being used as player characters).

I found it easier to do Captain Marvel before Wonder Woman and the others because he is considered such a mirror image of Superman in so many ways. I also looked at the characters through the lens of the old Amber Diceless Roleplaying game and its notion of Rankings of Characteristics (of which it only had 4: STR, END, WARFARE & PSYCH) the points in a stat were abstract (no lifting value assigned to STR for instance), what mattered was whether you outranked an opponent in a contest using a particular stat. When making Superman I was also thinking about Flash and their many races in the comics (and the animated Superman which is in JLU continuity). I see Superman having the potential to be nearly as fast as Flash but he focuses more on the STR because he runs into 'traditional' bricks far more often. So Flash is easy to make (use the same basic Framework used with Superman without non-superspeed abilites and no kryptonian limitation equivalent), so is Green Arrow, but considering how they compare to Superman and Batman they make building the latter two more complex. Wonder Woman fits in there as well as she is to varying degrees a flying/martial/brick/speedster. She has an awful lot of bases to cover and no Kryptonian limitation to hide behind.

Re: Animated JLA, 6th Edition

Yup, that is my problem with Wonder Woman, I am thinking about making her belt a IIF, as it glows in a later episode to represent her getting a power up, and it is a nice tie in to the old TV series. While I call these guys the animated version I am allowing other influences in places, kind of a 70% Animated, 20% Other sources like comics or other shows, 10% my "This is the way it should be"

Re: Animated JLA, 6th Edition

So went back to the drawing board, looking at WW, and I figured out something quite simple (This was after flirting with the idea of making her powers based on various mystic gadgets), and realised that with the new rules for blocking at range I could ditch the reflection (or reduce it a bunch) and just a few skill levels with block/Dodge/Ranged Block and a few points of DCV and be good on it, saving a large chunck of points...
