Clonus Posted October 5, 2016 Report Share Posted October 5, 2016 The interesting thing about Conviction is that the protagonist is the daughter of a former president (who cheated on his wife), but also the daughter of that former president's cold and ambitious wife...who is now a United States Senator and this plays a big role in how screwed up she is. So...her parents are the Clintons.The odd thing however is that her being a hot mess is apparently an informed characteristic. I mean we know in theory she's one but they don't show her being one. Actually she seems pretty pulled together in the first episode apart from being initially reluctant to do a job she was pressured into taking. At no point do they show her high, or drunk, or strung out, or in bed with anyone. We are told that she was busted for possession of cocaine. We are told that her university job is in peril because she was accused of sleeping with students. We are shown her in a prison cell post-arrest...and she's friggin' immaculate. We're shown her snorting a line of coke...but it's actually anti-histamine.So her actual "wildness" as we are shown consists dancing fully clothed in her strangely isolated cell block, flirting a little with her boss, who clearly she slept with when they were opposing lawyers, and changing in front of her staff, which was clearly not "having fun" or "acting out" but "regarding her staff as household servants".
