Marcus Impudite
The alarm at the Campaign City Metropolitan Museum was triggered tonight. Your character and their associates arrive on the scene to investigate, but oddly find no sign that anything had been stolen. A check of the video footage from the surveillance cameras shows two intruders in a special vault where the museum's curator keeps a number of rare books and manuscripts. The shorter, thinner of the two is seated at a table, reading from one of the larger tomes in the collection and writing notes in a notebook. His larger, bulkier partner appears to be standing guard at the door. Eventually, the later of the two accidently knocks something over and the alarms start going off. After chiding him for being a "clumsy oaf", the shorter, thinner man hastily scratches down some last notes and then the two of them abscond using some kind of teleportation spell. WWYCD? Shadow Hawk
Re: Museum Break In I don't currently have any mystic characters 'active'. Shadow Hawk, Steel Panther, and El Mago all want to know what he was reading. Goliath wants to know if the book has any pictures, and if he can color them. assault
Re: Museum Break In Captain Justice (on behalf of all my characters...): find out what the book was, and whether any others may have been read as well. Do normal forensic tests. Particularly check where the 'clumsy oaf' was, and what he knocked over. Analyse the security footage in detail. Talk to the curator about the book(s). Find out what he/she knows about it. Have there been any threats, strange events and so on previously. Do any other copies exist? Are there related or similar texts? Where are copies of these held? Are there related non-book artifacts? Follow up the answers - have there been any strange events involving related objects/books? Have there been strange events in locations associated with the book (and related objects, if any)? If the book is mystical, try and find someone who knows about that kind of stuff. hfergus
Re: Museum Break In All my heroes: Talk to the museum people and see what they know about the book. Black Tiger and Leadman: see if they can figure out who the "clumsy oaf" and skinny guy was via investigation. Olorin - If the book is magical or mystical he'll know. He also would probably know the power/danger level of it. If the person copying it was not careful or too powerful, he'd could find out what was copied. Futurian "Is it a tech manual of some sort? Can I see it?" If it is a tech manual, he'd know he power/danger level of it. If magical or mystical.... "Oh wow. Find a mage, I'm out of here." Opale
Re: Museum Break In Brick House will prolly first ask to see the "crime scene" hoping to find the books used to take notes opened on the table where the two figures where. To know what exact subject it is about. Then she'll try to know if some kind of sect or occult group hide informations in the museum, been a bit paranoid about magic, that she doesn't understand at all. Finally, she'll check if any other intrusion of occult crime have been comitted during the past months, all over in the USA first, then maybe the world... a long investigation to come.
