Marcus Impudite
Your character is ready his/her favorite newspaper or news website when he/she comes across the following: Bank Robber Suffers A Net Loss: A bank robber fleeing from police after robbing Campaign City Bank abandoned his vehicle after a high speed chase and attempted to elude the officers on foot through a suburban neighborhood. The suspect climbed a wooden privacy fence and ran through the backyard of one of the homes in said neighborhood, only to be suddenly entangled in a net and fell to the ground. It turns out the 15-year-old son of the homeowner and his friends had constructed a homemade net launcher from plans they downloaded off the internet and were testing it out that afternoon. The robber made the mistake of running between the launcher and its intended test target, an old department store mannequin, just as one of the teens squeezed the trigger. The pursuing officers quickly caught up to the tangled criminal shortly thereafter and took him into custody. What is your character's reaction to the story? WWYCD? Lucius
Re: Headline: Bank Robber Suffers A Net Lose... Most would laugh. Some would write wrathful letters to the newspaper about the gross mispelling of the phrase "net loss." Vulcan
Re: Headline: Bank Robber Suffers A Net Loss... Any gadget-based character I had would be scouring the internet for those plans... A netlauncher could be handy. Aside from that, laugh. More paranoid characters might check out the 15-year old, his friends, and their parents for signs of MSD (Mad Scientist Disorder). hfergus
Re: Headline: Bank Robber Suffers A Net Loss... Every single character I have except one would laugh. Most would congradulate the kids. Black Tiger would smile, chuckle and leave a note for the kids saying "Well done" - which is high praise for him.
Christopher
Re: Headline: Bank Robber Suffers A Net Loss... Unless there is some important bit of background information missing in the description, most of mine would find that amusing but overall not worthy to even remember. Zen Archer
Re: Headline: Bank Robber Suffers A Net Loss... Laughing would certainly seem to be the appropriate response. If the kids became media figures, Nolan Void would likely do some investigating to see if the robber had the sort of friends who would be looking for payback. DusterBoy
Re: Headline: Bank Robber Suffers A Net Loss... Most of my characters would just laugh and figure it was poetic justice. Except Casimir, a former DMA agent who can be a real tight-@r$3. She'd probably want to take the kids in for "criminal negligence" or some such. The rest of the Champions would be. "Nah - to hell with that noise" and more likely give the kids a (in their view) welli-earned "attaboy". Mr Gadget would really want to take a look at that net launcher, as well. Rholio2
Re: Headline: Bank Robber Suffers A Net Loss... First thought for most of my characters would be a movie quote... "If you build it, they will come."
