lensman
So I want to introduce a UN Security Council team which reports to the UN Secretary General. The team has members from each permanent member: China France Russai Federation United Kingdom United States of America They need not meet any motif, such as diplomatic or peacekeeper, or humanitarian. Any ideas for character names and powers from each member state?
Chuckg
> China Two options: a) They take this team seriously. In that case, they sends somebody picked for major, major political reliability, as well as the ability to be useful enough to be a linchpin of the team and maintain Chinese pride. Probably Gossamer Storm from "Watchers of the Dragon" They don't take this team seriously... at which point they pick somebody who is of only moderate usefulness to them, looks cute enough on camera so that China doesn't get too much bad press, is reasonably loyal, and doesn't know enough to do any damage to them even if she defected the first day. Probably Luan, also from "Watchers of the Dragon". > France Beats me. > Russai Federation Is Ivan (from the New Guard) still in-continuity? > United Kingdom Dunno. > United States of America PRIMUS wins the coin toss -- Hand-picks a senior Silver Avenger and sends him over. Department of Defense wins the coin toss -- they send Victory. (Champions Universe)
phydaux
IIRC, France had a hero called Peregrin that I was always fond of. His powers were similar to a character concept I always liked but never got around to writing up...
Ghost who Walks
An age ago, in the Comico title "Elementals", they had a Chinese Superhero called 'Red Dragon'. Have no idea who controls the name anymore. Basicly, he looked like a typical mild mannered Chinese Guy, who could fly and was superstrong (he may have heat vision also...) It was interesting to see China with a very powerful Hero, he was always asking Western heroes for their autographs, as he didn't get to leave the country much. France: I would say a former spy or epionage agent, who is in her 80's. Make her a telepathic member of the French Resistance, who is regarded as an icon by the French Super community. Her own powers would be fairly average, most of her success would come from intelligence, experience, and iron will.
Hermit
Forgive the English names for foreign heroes... but I only speak English (And some would debate even that ) The team has members from each permanent member: China: Great Wall- a "growing brick" of immense power, Great Wall was picked thinking that few other nations would have a super human capable of matching him for impressiveness OR might. Great Wall is proud of his nation, and refuses to be talked down to by any foriegn hero. Given his power, this is hardly a worry. He's been warned not to make friends with his fellow teammates, his duty comes first. This detachment isn't as easy to maintain as he thought it would be. France: Orage- meaning 'storm' in French, deals in electricity. Despite her very visual powers, she prefers to work low key, and has had some intelligence training to supplement her abilities. There are very few electronics systems she can't circumvent. There are times she grows tired of those trying to foist a 'french woman=sexy' image on her. Her govt has hinted that 'keeping an eye' on her American team mate might be a good idea. Orage has no intention of getting into such politics, and her government hasn't pressed further. Russai Federation: Black Sea- Mutated in a fallout, the man known as Black Sea was a long shot, for he was a villain in the old communist regime. That's if you consider being a disadent villainry. Black Sea is not an attractive man any more, he's covered in dark scales. Still, his power, especially when in the water, is formidible. His claws and shark like teeth can rend and tear even solid metal. Many are afraid of Black Sea, which is their loss. For under his ugly exterior is quite the jovial fun loving fellow, the better half of the "Russian Sterotype". His placement is hotly debated by his government, especially those with old Communsit ties who bear him no love. United Kingdom: Brigade- Described by some as a "One Woman Army Corp", Brigade can duplicate herself up to 20 times, and as she spent some time traveling the world studying martial arts (She prefers Kung Fu, and knows many variations), this leads to a most formidable lady. Initially reticent about her powers, she's come to enjoy using it, most often by deadpan humour as she littlerally runs into some hapless person multiple times all over the headquarters. Her duplicates are mindlinked, but she has not told many of this... prefering it be 'her little secret'. Her orders from her own government are as follows "Hold the bloody group together". So she has tried to play diplomat and keep all heads level. United States of America: Peacemaker- Wearing the most advanced high tech armor the government could design (in truth, maybe a bit better than they could have designed on their own...they stole ideas from some villains in stronghold), Peacemaker is a professional soldier offered the job of a life time. His time in the U.S. Army has put him above any worries about being more than the suit. As the American on the team, he often finds himself involved in some political game from other nations seeking the secrets he is believed to possess, or his own govt hinting that HE should exert more control. Unfortunately, his sense of duty to his government keeps him from vocalizing his frustrations with some of the orders he's given to outsiders. While some of his teammates see him as a typical arrogant American, the truth of the matter is he treads a thin line between supporting the team and rising above the potlics, while trying to keep his job. He's pretty sure any replacement for him won't be better.
Redmenace
Re: UN Security counsil China- Champion's Universe has several names but no power listings. Iron Mountain, White Crane, White Tiger, There are any number of Kung Fu styles a hero could take a name from- Iron Monkey, Drunken Tiger etc. France Defenseur-defender could be almost any power but I'd say a well rounded super man with a more stylish quality. Deluge-weather controller, Voltaiac-electrical. Rus- Barricadnia-Barricade maybe a telekinetic or Invisible girl style force fiel multi or EC. UK- Shrike-a vicious but petit bird, Swift-speedy, perhaps a name based on how the Navy names their vessels, Indomitable, Intrepid. John Bull, Crusader, Sea Crusader Originally posted by lensman So I want to introduce a UN Security Council team which reports to the UN Secretary General. Fireg0lem
I'm assuming that all of the members are taking this seriously. People's Republic of China: Name: Proletariat Powers: Low level brick/MA with a lot of duplication Russian Federation: Name: Rasputin Powers: Supermage with Wolverine-level regeneration factor United Kingdom: Name: Bulldog Powers: Damage Sponge Brick France: Savateur Powers: Martial Artist (uses Savate, obviously enough). Physical abilities above human limits, but no blatant powers. United States of America: Name: Power Powers: Battlesuit, with add-on modules that can be modified as needed.
