Darandle
Okay, My Group and I will be running a not too distant Future Setting on our Game. I want to Arm My Character with a Stun Gun, the modern day weapon that delivers an electrical charge to an opponent and knocks them out. What would be the rules on a weapon like this? Steve Long
This is a "how to" and not a rules question, so I've moved it. Anyone who has any suggestions, feel free to post 'em here.
TheEmerged
I generally use Energy Blast with the No Normal Defense (+1) advantage. Proper defenses would be a Force Field or some other defense that keeps it from connecting with the victim. If you're feeling tricky you could also build it as a Killing Attack bought with a small number of dice and then buy up Increased Stun Multiplier along with No Normal Defense. Thanks to the so-called "Stun Lotto" you may find that this does more Stun on average.
JmOz
If your GM would allow that... My personal take on the weapon in question is this: An Energy Blast, with the Reduced Penetration Limitation. When I design such a weapon I like the idea that it can still damage people some, thus the reduced Penetration
Pattern Ghost
Don't forget Limited Range, Beam, and No Knockback (if not using NND option) modifires. OAF, of course, and probably charges.
Darandle
Would These Work for a Weapon that just knocks someone out? I am kind of designing the character to be very against hurting people seriously. Sorry about the questions, I am a newbie to the system
Dust Raven
One of my favorite creations if a stun gun bought as an RKA NND with Increased STUNx and Autofire(3 or 5). It has lots of Charges and is OAF, and has a -1/4 Must Use Maximum Autofire. The Autofire is there for two reasons: 1) To simulate contact with the target. A more solid contact (more short hit) will cause more damage. and 2) It's a cheep way to get lots of more damage (though somewhat irratically). Such a weapon would typically have 32-125 charges. A HTH version would just be bought with No Range.
Cybernaut
Perhaps this is what you were asking for: Air Taser: EB 6d6, NND (Force Field/Power Defence; +1), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2), (75 Active Points), OAF (-1), Real Weapon (-1/4), STR Minimum (4 STR Doesn't Add/Subtract Damage; -3/4), No Range (-1/2) Cost: 21 points Plus Ranged (+1/2) for EB NND (25 Active Points), OAF (-1), Limited Range (-1/4), 1 Recoverable Charge (-1 1/4) Cost: 7 points Total cost: 28 points This write-up represents the kind that has back up electrodes so you can still use the taser in nonranged combat after you've discharged the main leads. If you don't want to hurt someone seriously, the game has a few mechanics to help with that. The first is NND (no normal defence). It automatically earns the no body modifier, and goes against a non standard defense. Stun Stick: EB 6d6 NND (+1, not vs resistant ED Force Field), 16 charges (+0), (60 active) No Range (-1/2), OAF (-1), real cost 24 points. If the target has the Force Field then he takes no damage, if he does take damage, he takes 6d6 Stun, no body. You can also just take the -0 modifier "does no body" on a typical Energy Bolt. Stun Stick ii EB 12d6, Does No Body (-0), 16 charges (-0), (60 Active), No Range (-1/2), OAF (-1) real cost 24 points. Here you'd roll the 12d6, add up the stun, apply it to the ED of the target normally. You don't do any body, no matter what you roll (it also doesn't do pressure or knock back either). You can also go to Mental Powers, like Ego Attack, but that might get a little esoteric for the SFX you're looking at. D
pinecone
I also use Drain:Stun for stun weapons...but it does entail a little book keeping.....
