  1. Re: character with wish granting powers If the only wishes he can get granted are changes to the wisher, then Transform is all you need. If wishes can be for something else (a lot of money, a fast car, whatever), you'll need a Summon (yeah, you aren't suppose summon not alive things, but a VPP means when the wish granter needs a different Power, the wishers wish goes away).
  2. Re: An Opportunity For Self-Improvement Beau-Jim: "So am I; I'm a sapient being." "Better lay off the drugs; being high all the time don't work good." "What does Ian call you?" "Can I call you Joe? I had an uncle Joe; you sound about as dumb as him." "I think that's not legal in this here state." "Not near rare enough for me." "You going to inject me with something makes my face all plastic like that Twilight Zone episode?" You get the picture. Beau-Jim will rag on him all the way through. At the end he'll go, "You must think I'm a fool. You want to have fun with your game, try someone who go for it. Try this here fellow name of Popgun." Followed by a big grin and hand move between a wave and a "shoe away now." Sayeed-Shareef Uthman: "There is no god but Allah!" --- over and over loud enough to drown him out. Or some "exorcism" stuff. I wonder what happens when a dozen brawny guys try to pick "entity" up and hustle him out. The High One: Listens with impatience, won't touch the paper of book, then gives him a lecture on Neo-Paganism. Dimitrios the Magnificent: Stares at the paper, can't make any sense of it, tells "entity" his power has driven him insane. "Everyone knows atomism is false and everything can be divided finer and finer forever. Your try to turn people into numbers---integers, yet!---is a sign you have followed falsity into insanity." Toss the papers and book into the furnace when "entity" leaves, not care if they burn up or not.
  3. Re: Dimension Lords That's odd cause its all Latin. Points for setting that one up.
  4. Re: Post-Apocalypse NPCs Sorry, I still not getting it. Why "Worship Incompetence"? What turns -1 to rolls into going insane?
  5. Re: Zombie Horror Survivor (Left4Dead)? I've always wondered why all the concentration on head shots when fighting zombies.
  6. Re: Hero System Good Idea/Bad Idea... Because "Built like a brick house" is a polite way of saying "Really really fat."
  7. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Best w/no context "Get the nappy away from the stork!" "Each one of us can do it, but together we can't."
  8. Re: Mottos for use in games Winning's what we're best at!
  9. Re: Whoops! Did I really allow that power? SPD on Continuing (1 Turn) Charges (each charge is a +1 to SPD), w/Cost END and x4 END PER PHASE. Only 4 Charges, so not a big deal, right? Only his friend (in game and out) has Aid for to increase anybody's number fo charges. Fight starts, seg 12; Aid guy pumps Speedy's number of Charges to 20 (Speedy's got SPD of 4 to start); maybe goes into Seg 1. Speedy acts twice each Seg. By seg 11 or 12 Speedy's used up all END and burned most of his STUN. He's also wiped most of the bad guys out (way high HA, some MA too; he's acting twice each seg, remember). Seg 12 Aid guy does his healing to Speedy while the rest of the team mops up the details. The GM thought he'd "tamed down" Speedy---he hadn't thought about Aid guy!
  10. Re: Mottos for use in games "You only go round once in life" "Unless u know a real good wizard."
  11. Re: Hero System Good Idea/Bad Idea... Good idea: Gadgets and Gear Bad idea: Gidget's So Gear (50's pop-movie character crossed with early Beetles)
  12. Re: Fallen Son Sayeed-Shareef Uthman: Have one of his servants take the child away; he wouldn't care what happened to it ---- at first. Once he realized what peculiar materials were in the "crib" he'd track down the child. It would probably be about then that one of his advisers would figure out what the note was prattling about. Thus the Sayeed-Shareef would realize one of those ***** Nazreeni is involved. So he'd dump the child in the lap (literally!) of the local dhimmi. Or have it raised by people he controls. The High One: mutter about crazy bible-thumpers and call the police and tell them someone left a baby on her doorstep. She'd cooperate with the police, unless the pressed whole "Fallen One" thing, then give them an earful. Dimitrios the Magnificent: Has no idea what the letter is about (as he's in a world where the Roman Church fell with Rome---"Revelations" is part of the Western Churches' bible only, being uncanonical or unknown in the Eastern Churches"). Thus he wouldn't ask his team-mates to check for evil. Some of them might, just to be sure. The child would land up in an orphanage pretty soon, unless the Guard took it to "research" due to having no belly-button.
  13. Re: Whoops! Did I really allow that power? Whole team with Mind Link, Teamwork, and players who are willing to have they're characters do as the leader says (in a fight if not outside). We'd learned the hard way in a earlier game how much real teamwork can do. The new GM had no idea. We wiped the floor with his bad guys.
  14. Re: Steampunk Star Wars (Needs Better Name) Hardware Wars! What do you mean, "it's been done"? I like the idea, BTW.
  15. Re: Campaign Idea . . . almost. I like the idea of Movers. I'll add to those saying "general contractors." Repairs more than building. Landscapers. A lot similar to contractors. Plus all the "fun" of the great outdoors. Cleaners (not just carpet, the whole house/office). Running a bar or a restaurant is good, but the PCs would be tied to one location a lot.
  16. Re: Dimension Lords Every thought? Even passing thoughts, vague wanderings of the mind? Then the Archduchess of Nudity is one of the most powerful nobles. But still way behind the King of "Uhhh". Multiverse is better, you won't be mixing Latin and Greek.
  17. Re: Post-Apocalypse NPCs I'm confused. Do they worship incompetent people? Or what?
  18. Re: Del Monte Hero - Reaping the Grapes of Wrath Another for the team: Papa Ya: the "old man" of the team at "forty and a few," he's calm, wise, and deliberate, making him something of a father figure to the team. But he's not so old he can't kick tail with the best of them. His experience and learning make him something of a "utility infielder" for the team. If you want something weird, you could give him a Multiform into a bear, nicknamed "Paw Paw".
  19. Re: Hero System Good Idea/Bad Idea... Good idea: The Ultimate Brick Bad idea: The Ultimate Brickhouse ("She's a brick" pause for breath "HOUSE. She's mighty mighty, she's letting it all hang out..."
  20. Re: Zombie Horror Survivor (Left4Dead)? Post Apoc HERO is something you'll ready want. Perhaps do something different, like the "zombies" are people infected with an "advance wave" of aliens who are going to attack Earth once things are disrupted enough. How about: the infected people are almost like they were before being infected, only they have uncontrollable urge to destroy and kill. Then the PCs can't be sure who's infected.
  21. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares In the future, thought is controlled by the government, as much as it can. The biggest threat to the government's control is books. So, a team of dedicated loyal people seek out books, and burn them. They're called "firemen." One day a fireman, out of curiosity, commits the worst crime possible: he says a book from the flames. Secretly, he reads it. From then on, anytime he gets hot, he kills people. It's the newest best-seller, Fondly Fahrenheit 451. Coming soon to a bookstore near you!
  22. Re: Critiqe of Nearly Normal Colosus You've calculated the EC Powers' costs wrong, and forgot to account for the EC pool. Illiterate. "Aliterate" (alliterate) to to combine words with the same initial letter.
  23. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Somebody tried to act tough to my charcter. Response was "You just might be the toughest guy ever, but your knees break just like anybody else."
  24. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
  25. Re: character with wish granting powers Side Effect, on recipient for Power, 1/4 less Limitation --- whatever the "catch" is. How you make that variable I don't know.
