  1. Also, don't forget that a character small enough to get DCV levels from their size should also take a D.F. disadvantage.
  2. If a player wanted a character to have DCV bonuses based on size I would simply require them to buy the shrinking power with the modifiers of always on and 0 END.
  3. I am trying to write up, in HERO terms, the ability to make potions the same way they are made in the T.V. series Charmed. Since the potions always (well 99.9% of the time) work I am trying to work this as a power rather than a skill but I am not sure what the best way to do this is. What I have come up with so far is this: Transformation (Living demon into Vanquished demon) 1 Charge, Fragile, OAF, Gestures (must be thrown), extra time 1 hour (the time to brew), requires obscure ingredients, AOE 1 hex (the potions are usually thrown at the ground near the demon rather than directly on them), reduced range (equal to the users throwing range) How many dice should I make this since it almost always works? Would this work better as a Dispel? What kind of limitation would you apply to "requires obscure ingredients"? What kind of limitation would you apply to "reduced range (equal to the users throwing range)" Are there other advantages or limitations you would apply? Any other comments?
  4. The Worldwar series by Harry Turtledove if you like alternate history stories. Aliens arrive in the middle of WWII on a conquest mission. Also by Harry Turtledove a 3 book series with a late bronze age setting. The books are Werenight, Prince of the North and King of the North.

  8. How about a Variable Power Pool with No Concious Control? The only problem I see is that the way you have describe the character his power would always work. Couldn't that be a bit unbalanceing?
  9. I'm not sure if his MA had some sort of ranged attack but as for Mentalla making a mistake that is really not like her. Eurostar is so dangerous not only because of their power level but because of their intelligence. They are smart, well coordinated and not afraid to retreat and regroup. They also have the versatility to take almost any group on and win and aren't shy about endangering normals to make good their escape. Not to mention Bora's habit of hangout invisibly and either putting you through the floor (double KB straight into the ground HURTS!) or grabbing the fallen with her TK (while fully invisible) and flying off at high speed.

Thanks for the interest so far I will be going out of town this weekend but will be sending an email to all interested players no later than next Wendsday (8/20) with all the details you could want about the world (the Western Shores setting from FH 4th Ed.), information for creating characters, a few special rules for magic use and so on.   12. SPells Yes but a VPP would allow them a much greater range to choose from.
  13. What do you think of allowing starting mages to have a VPP at the 20 pt. level (30 character points)? The restrictions would be that the player could not buy either the 0 phase or No Skill Roll needed advantages. This would help simulate mages who are more powerful when using “spells†but still capable of drawing on naturally occurring magical energy in a wide-ranging fashion. It would be most appropriate in a game where mages are uncommon (perhaps a ratio of 1 in 1,000 to 1 in 10,000). In my opinion it would alleviate the blasé mentality many people seem to have about mages and make them a little more mysterious and respected and a little less predictable and categorized. Comments?
  14. I am looking to start a PBP Fantasy Hero game. The game will focus more on intrigue, and stealth than straight out combat. Players will be encouraged to make characters who are members of the lower nobility or agents of various governments and other powerful entities. (For those who have the second Source Book put out for 4th Ed Fantasy Hero, I will be including such groups as the Witch Hunters of the Western Shores, The Family and most other groups found in the book.) Human characters would be most appropriate but a few non-human characters (not more than 1/3 of the party) would be acceptable. Players will also need to be willing to create a decent background for their characters. This background would have some input from me as the GM and would only need to be three or four paragraphs (I don’t expect a book). The game would be set at the current time period in the history given for the Western Shores in the 4th edition book. (A more complete background will be provided to all players). I have stuff I have The Lankmar supplement, the Thieves world supplement, and a product put out by Gary Gygax’s long since defunct company called “The City of Baldamar†which is a fantastic generic fantasy city. I would be interested in trading if you have either Alien Enemies or the book with PSI in it. If you don’t I will sell you the whole lot of them for whatever it cost to ship them. Let me know if you are interested.

  20. Keep in mind that if you are going to follow the first suggestion then you need to make sure that you buy at least a minimum power energy blast to have something to feed those points into. You might also keep in mind that the major drawback to this character is that in any campaign other than a street-level one it will take FOREVER for you to feed enough points into your powers (especially the energy blast) to make them effective.
