  2. Re: RPG.net I'm not going to pretend I'm innocent on the matter. If nothing else I could have just walked away. But, what I said about saying positive things about Hero upseting people on Rpg.net. I meant in general, not solely on that thread. And I'll stand be the observation.
  3. Not specifically Hero related, but I thought I'd toss it out. I'm running a survival horror game in Hero similar to the recent Dawn of the Dead movie. The situations are going to get fairly grim very fast. I want to sometimes break the tension with a little black humor. I wanted to ask did anyone have any suggestions? Something that popped into my mind was that the zombie victims don't have much choice in attire when they get "infected". That could lead to oddly dressed monsters roaming around, like A zombie in brightly colored suspenders and a t-shirt that says "High on Life!" with big smiley face. The PCs disturb a feasting creatures, she looks up, blood and entrails hanging for her teeth and lunges. You can just make out "Real men don't eat meat" on her shirt.
  4. Re: Why do folks that dislike Hero hang out here? No, there certainly aren't alot. I hope I didn't imply that.
  5. A newbie question, but I am curious. Not flamebaiting or trying to start something. I'm simply curious. It seems like it would be a waste of time or just get on your nerves.
  6. Re: RPG.net I think there is bias (Surprise!). What was said in the end seemed to amount to "You can talk about Hero. Just don't mention its strength, anything that sets it apart or why you prefer it. Feel free to post about how much sucks though."
  7. Re: Superhumans pulling an Authority Yep, that was one of best eps, IMO. I like how it diverged from the comic continuity as well.
  8. Re: RPG.net Well, at least I think I got my answer about Rpg.net...

  10. Re: RPG.net Cool, I remeber having alot of fun with CP 2020.
  11. Ouch, how long were you in the hospital?
  12. Wait. It has died down quite a bit, but for awhile there its was d20 or nothing.
  13. You mean as opposed to the elitist snobs over there that want to convert everything to d20.
  14. You're a braver man than I. I'd rather stop a fan with my tongue.
  15. I don't get rpg.net to be honest. Hero get slapped around, lied about, and basically you can't make a post about without certain people popping up to tell you its "dead" "Obsolete" or whatever, but God Help you if you say you don't like d20. Yes. I'm bitter.
  16. So, Wanderer, you want to enact tyranny, which is generally considered an "evil" to fight other "evils" (as they stand in your opinion, since obviously your (and your players) world view is the correct one? Or should any being with significant power all try to force their view of a perfect world down everyone's throat. The ends justify the means. Defending "human rights" by taking away basic freedoms because people, IYO, don't deserve them seems a bit counter intuitive. If you really can't see the difference between civil disobedience and world conquest and rule of might over law, truly beleiving the ends justify the means. then there's not much I really can say to you and this is pointless. Good luck with your game. I'm out.
  17. I was wondering if anyone felt that Rpg.net forums are a little, well, hostile to Hero players?
  18. True enough. The "moralizing" got on my nerves though. As if someone being wanna be tyrants was the best (or even only) ethical choice. This doesn't feel like a "superhero" comic to me, but more like prolonged and slightly incoherent political rant.
  19. Why don't these saviours use their cosmic power to institute some legitamate change that doesn't invole blowing stuff up? Create cheap, efficent pollution free technologies and make them cheaply available, even free. Use their god like charisma, social acumen, perhaps even a nudge of mental powers to get themselves put into a position of power, or influence those that are. Set up their own "utopia" and lead by example instead of likely plunging the world into chaos and costing who knows how many lives in the process because they want it NOW, damnit and can comprehend the idea that they just might be as full of it as any current world government.
  20. Nor does having powers mandate you to use them. Sure, I could buy a gun and go out and shoot anyone I thought was doing "the wrong thing". But what exactly, gives me the responsibility, or even the right? Such acts are generally called vigilantism and terrorism. These "heroes" are no better than any other crackpot that wants to force their will on everyone else. If a Homophobe goes out and starts "executing" homosexuals, is he a "hero"? I guess the KKK are "heroes" for lynching. After all, they were just excercisin their "rights"? Or are such so called "rights" only for people that agree with your particular political agenda? One of the comic book cliches you seem to scorn so much is "With great power, come great responsibility". That means not only knowing when to use your powers, but when -not- to use them and how to use them wisely, not in some "I'm gonna fix the world" power fantasy.
  21. Re: Re: Re: Re: Here's a scenario Wanderer's "Heroes" can't win, no matter how powerful Choosing death over what amounts to slavery under the hands of a small group of elitist SPBs seems perfectly understandable to me. Doesn't it strike you, at least as ironic, that in several ways, your group attitude is the same patraonizing, over paternal "White Man's Burden" line of thought from the late 19th/Early 20th century? "We have more stuff than you, so obviously we're right, do what we say."
  22. I would reccomend using a lesser version of Independant (-1 perhaps?).
  23. The majority can falter as well. No one has said they can't, but overall, the democrative process has brought beneifits to the common man. As was said early, there is a reason Monoarchy is obselete. You talk about "arbitrary" death penalties where your "heroes" are going to end up killing people that stand against them, or disagree with them. Unless they're magical powers allow them to enforce their will without harming anyone. How long before they're killing people for wanting to eat a cheeseburger (equal rights for animals) or cutting down a tree for firewood (most protect the planet, after all). Now I'm not saying that all enviernmetalists are crackpots like that, but these guys being "activists" (radicals, IMHO) seem like just the type to go to these extremes. because, hey, omlettes eggs and these people are just sheep anyway, right?
  24. Re: Re: Here's a scenario Wanderer's "Heroes" can't win, no matter how powerful With every explaination of the stand point you see as heroic, it becomes all the more terrifying. Oh, and the ending of Aberrant is canonical. It was a battle against Taint riddled freaks and a few Nova would be Gods. Mal didn't give a damn one way or the other. His goal was accomplished. He had "equals" for companionship, so he split. His own philosohpy dictacted total seperation and non interference with mere baselines.
