  1. Re: WWYYCD: The Rally Sun Wukong will do something awful to these people. He's a trickster god, after all, and he considers himself obligated to educate and enlighten people using his pranks. He's just not obligated to be gentle about it.
  2. Re: Robot with an adamantium shell? You could put Restrainable on your multipower, to represent that those systems can be removed by a Roboticist or disabled with an EMP. That would save ~20 pts.
  3. Re: WWYCD: Multilateral Menace? Here's an interesting thought: suppose the UNTIL black ops project in question was some kind of mass mind-control experiment. When it was botched, it gave most of the federal government officials progressively worsening brain damage. They may seem sane (or as sane as politicians get) right now, but in a couple of months, they'll be nutty as a fruit-cake. WWYCD?
  4. Re: Batman vs Midnighter Mr Terrific would hand Midnighter his own ass, thanks to his "invisibility to machines" tech.
  5. Re: How do you feel about Superheroes that kill? It's worth noting that the alien civilization in 'God''s body ended up dying when their world rotted around them.
  6. Re: The Essential Bad Silver Age At the time, Joker had the powers of Mr. Mxyzsptlk, the omnipotent fifth-dimensional imp. He could fold up the laws of physics and wear them like a paper hat if he wanted.
  7. Re: The Essential Bad Silver Age In all fairness, the Joker almost certainly wouldn't have really let Superman kill him. Joker's life focuses around Batman, but he was willing to actually give a shot at killing him.
  8. Re: Of course we're criminals. We have to be. It's worth noting that at least two of Spider-Man's foes have tried to kill Jameson in the past - the Green Goblin and the Scorpion. If not for Spider-Man's assistance, Jameson would be dead - the man has a (virtually admitted) psychotic hatred of Spider-Man.
  9. Re: The Spore - For your critique Consider sticking the spore powers in a MP to save some points, if possible. Also, those disadvantages are pretty devastating - they make the character really difficult to play.
  10. Yeah, giving her a lot of martial arts would probably be a good idea - it'd simulate her combat training well. She should have a decent ego, higher than flash's at least (maybe around 15?) and a bit of mental defense - she seemed to last as long or longer against Despero's psychic assault than Katma Tui. To simulate her toughness, it wouldn't be a bad idea to add in a lot (~15 pts) of basic PD & ED, and then give her the Combat Luck version of Damage Resistance.
  11. Canada has fairly strict gun control laws, doesn't it? Much more so than the US, I think. If you wanted a more stereotype-busting super, how about... Arsenal (or Firepower, or nearly anything sort-of associated with guns, really...) Johnathan Murray is one of Canada's oldest living superhumans: he participated in (and just barely survived) the disastrous raid at Dieppe in World War II, and, though you wouldn't know it to look at him, is a good 80 years old. After being seriously wounded in action, Murray volunteered for one of the first cyborg programs in recorded history, and was not only healed in the process, but was equipped with some very powerful weapons in the process. Over the years, Murray has continued to upgrade his cybernetics, and anything in his body is comparable to the most powerful technology Viper or ARGENT could put out, thankfully. Despite his cyborg status, Murray isn't full of the self-loathing that many cyborgs are - he volunteered for the conversion process and dutifully and gladly pays the price to be able to protect the free world. Murray is also a well-known conservative in Canada - he has vigorously opposed Canada's high taxes, welfare programs and (in particular) gun control programs, and is a good friend of Charles Heston - he is roughly comparable to an American moderate Republican on most areas, and is less conservative on some social issues like gay marriage and abortion. He has openly and strongly denounced recent initiatives to reduce criminal penalties for marijuana-related crimes. His strong and unconventional political views have, however, earned him the ire of many politically motivated liberal supervillains and even a handful of superheroes, and they have also put his status as one of Canada's state-sanction superheroes in jeopardy. Powers: Arsenal should probably be an artillery-style blaster - he's screaming for a big multipower full of attack powers like gun-hands, Summon-homing-missle legs, and so forth and so on - probably shouldn't be TOO lethal or cause too much property damage, as he IS a superhero. He should also have subdermal armor and similar powers. Campaign Use: Arsenal's political views make as good a story hook as any - at the very least, he might get into an argument with highly liberal PCs, especially if their views are well-known. Arsenal should still be a team-player, though - he probably has more experience at it than any of the PCs, too.
  12. Actually, I could see ARGENT teaming up with Viper. Their collective resources - ARGENT's technology and Viper's manpower - would give them what they needed to start multiple insurrections across the country. ARGENT wants money and power too, but they don't have any experience in the world domination game; thus, given a fair agreement with Viper, they would probably be willing to fully cooperate.
  13. Christ almighty, it looks like someone converted the Overlord's power armor to HERO system...how could you afford that monstrosity?
  14. Heh...that reminds me of one of the villains from the anime Trigun. Basically, a giantess who used her sons (wrapped in battleship armor, basically) as living projectiles...once thrown, they would run back to her. Kinda funny, but you could steal it pretty easy. Incidentally, how is this Gravity Cancellation power built?
  15. Hunh. How did you build Black Hole's absorption power tech? I'm actually not sure how that would work. On topic, I think Nebula may be one of the most dangerous characters I've ever seen, not just because of her 14d6 EB (I think that's what she has), but rather because she uses a stop-sign advantage on a stop-sign power. It's not fair, really - if I can't use it, then why should she be allowed to?
  16. Actually, +14 DCV has the problem of, well, not protecting you from area-effect attacks, the bane of all speedsters and martial artists. No matter how high your DCV is, the DCV of your hex will always be three. However, if you lower your opponent's OCV, it will make it harder for them to target your hex, or any other hex, for that matter. With the previous construct, the attack roll for someone affected by the power to successfully hit a non-adjacent hex is OCV - 4.
  17. Cool. I'm the Munchkin King now? Well, everyone needs a title. I'd have preferred Lord of All Humans, but you gotta take what you can get. In any case, my contribution to this exercise is: Change Environment (-12 OCV, 1" radius) (Megascale 1 +1/4, Personal Immunity +1/4, Only Costs END to Activate +1/4 (105 Active Points); No Range -1/2, Increased END Cost 2x -1/2, Extra Time (Delayed Segment Cannot Act) to Activate -1/4) Final Cost: 47 Real Points END Cost (Only to Activate): 21 This construct could represent a sort of space-warping field that makes attack nearly impossible for everyone but it's creator. In any case, it makes the base attack roll for anyone trying to hit you OCV - (DCV + 1), meaning even the most skilled opponents will have some problems with it; hell, even area-effect attacks will be nearly useless. It's relatively cheap (the operant term being relatively) and has a big impact, although it will probably piss off your friends. It works well for a master villain with space/time manipulating powers, though. An alternate, less expensive Change Environment Construct should be mandatory for most mentalists: the same as above, but it inflicts a, say, -10 to ego rolls for everyone nearby - which makes breakout rolls nearly impossible and synergizes well with Suppress/Drain/Transfer EGO powers, since just managing to drain someone to 0 EGO will totally incapacitate them - they won't be able to make the EGO roll to act of their own accord or to disobey your orders. Change Environment is a yield-signed power, though (I can't remember, I don't have my book with me right now), so this might be a little out of place in this thread - effective, though.
  18. Actually, the absorption trick IS usable, so long as you remove the +2 5/month return rate thing - which is irrelevant, since you should be able to get virtually infinite effect from the power. Assuming you have a speed of 4, and absorption 2d6, and a wall to bang your head into, and enough PD to completely ignore the 2d6 damage you're inflicting on yourself, you can get 8d6 - 5 active points of whatever your absorption feeds per turn...which means 40d6 - 25 per minute, or 2400d6 - 1500 per hour, or 57600d6 - 36000 per day of continuous banging. A day of continuous head-banging will give you an average of 165600 active points of whatever 3 attributes you want, which should last for more than 110 hours, or roughly 4 and a half days.
  19. The point I, and people on my side, are trying to make is that Destroyer, while certainly capable of giving ANY country a great deal of trouble, simply does not have the resources, as of his writeup, to hold control of a (or several) countries against a vastly numerically-superior foe. Offensively, he is formidable, and easily capable of devastating any small country's military; however, as our recent experience in Iraq has shown, defending a position once conquered is a far more difficult problem. However, the scenario could easily work better with a change of villain: I would suggest Istvatha V'Han. V'Han is pretty much unknown to most of the world, and certainly to the public at large, and if she were to therefore sponsor several third-world countries, even if she did provoke a military response from the US, said response would doubtless be held up in the UN (assuming she assumed control of the countries in question relatively peacefully). Moreover, V'Han would definitely improve the standard of living of the countries that submit to her, as it's a part of her strategy to maintain control of that which she conquers. Of course, the individual countries (and whatever resources they may have) are irrelevant to V'Han. What she really needs is a beachhead and a month or two to quietly 'port in couple of million D-Soldiers, and appropriate armor, air and logistical support. The US would be prevented from doing what needs to be done by international political pressure (the UN, "Leave V'Hansylvania alone" protests around the world) until it was too late, leaving it up to the PCs to stop V'Han before she summons too many of her forces to be defeated.
  20. There's a fundamental difference there, assault - if Destroyer is freely given control of a country, we aren't going to be liberating it. We're going to be levelling it. Destroyer's organization is 20 times worse than Al Qaeda in the real world, and look at how many people wanted to use nuclear weapons in Afghnitan after 9/11.
