  1. Re: From Blk/Wht or Grey Scale to Color Gah! We posted at the same time!
  2. Okay, I have a game starting up in about a month. None of my players frequent these boards so I can post some of the background on my game. The game takes place in the Champions Universe, and takes place in Kansas City. Basically the PC's are independant Heroes in the start of their career and do not know eachother. But here's some background for the city... From 1997-1999 there was a hero team called The Crusaders; consisting of 4 Local Heroes: Torrent (Leader, basically a GL Clone but a Mutant), Impact (Powered Armor User), Crystal Pheonix (Mystic-Spirit from another plane), and Whitefox (Mentalist). Basically in 1999 Torrent was killed, Impact was left Crippled, Crystal Pheonix returned to her homeplane taking Whitefox with her. No one really knows why The Crusaders split up or what happened to Crystal Pheonix or Whitefox (who are presumed to dead). It's been 5 years and crime has gotten pretty bad. There are a handful of solo-heroes, but the City wants a Sanctioned Team. I was thinking something along the following: In 1999 The Crusaders caught wind of a DEMON plot to summon a powerful creature to help them capture Crystal Pheonix to steal her powers. As it turns out, the "alleged plan" was a trap and The Crusaders walked right into it. DEMON managed to drain a large portion of Crystal Pheonix's power and used it to rip Torrent's soul from his body, and Impact was severely injured. Crystal Pheonix used what remaining power she had in a last-ditch effort to stop DEMON (accidently killing those involved) and transporting herself and Whitefox to her home plane of existance. However, the vessal that housed CP's powers (a large crystal- globe held in the basement of an abanonded mansion) held fast to her powers, and a large portion of her soul. Crystal Pheonix remains in her home plane in a catatonic state waiting for the rest of her to return, and Whitefox refuses to leave her side. Whitefox (who has great precognative power) forsaw the PC's becoming a great super-hero team, and contacted them in their dreams - showing them the orb containing CP's essence. He can't show them much, the gap between planes of existance being too great, but he shows them the image of Crystal Pheonix trapped inside of the orb, the mansion where the Orb is kept, and that some great evil was searching for the Orb. The great evil is actually Takofanes. He reincarnated the souls of several DEMON members to fuel one of his constructs, and to learn any secrets the puny group had to offer him. An Orb holding much of the power of an extraplanar being was too tempting for him to pass up, and he has been searching for the Mansion where DEMON sprung the trap (the DEMON opperative who spilled the beans was not able to tell him the exact location of the Mansion because he himself did not know how to get there). Of course, The Undying Lord is far to busy to search for the mansion himself, so he'll send a powerful demonic-servent to bring him the orb. Basically the PC's (individually) will have to find out who Crystal Pheonix is, where the mansion is, and stop Takofanes's servent from obtaining the orb. Then they will have to free Crystal Pheonix's essence from the orb so it can rejoin with the rest of her. As far as methods for finding the mansion and stuff, I was thinking of dropping hints such as using the Mansion in an advertisement for a Real Estate Company, having something on TV like an Unsolved Mysteries showing that Impact is in a Vetran's hospital and refuses to talk to reporters, and if push comes to shove, have some of the Heroes irresistably compelled to go to the mansion. So... anyone have any comments/sugguestions on how to improve this "first encounter?" EDIT: Just had a brainstorm: What if the DEMON group that trapped Crystal Pheonix's powers were rogue... and another DEMON group decided to use the same Mansion as their own HQ... but didn't know about the secret door leading to the Orb? Then the PC's would have to deal with DEMON and Takofanes's demon...
  3. Re: Got my 'damaged' books today... Got mine today. Damaged? Took me a full minute of looking to see what was "damaged." Slightly scruffed Spine and corners. That's all. Btw, Thanks Ben Seeman for packing a newpaper and a "Living with COPD" Flier
  4. My fiance is wanting to play a Monk Character, and I figure it would be along the lines of a Monk to be able to counter attack when faced in HtH combat sooooooo I wrote up two powers: Counter-Punch Energy-Blast 5d6 Continuous +1/2 Damage Sheild +1/2 AP/RC: 50 Points Counter-Throw +25 STR Continuous+1/2 Damage Sheild +1/2 Only for Throwing -1/2 AP: 50 Pts RC: 33 Points So... For the counter throw... would she be allowed to add her own STR to the Counter Throw or would it only be the 25 STR bought for the power?
  5. Re: Affects Solid World You are assuming I have the USPD
  6. Okay, one of my players wants to build a mentalist that can turn into a ghost. She wants to be able to "possess" people. I already know this would be bought as Mind Control, No Range, Only in Ghost form. But seeing as how the power can ONLY be used when she's desolid, does she still have to pay the +2 for Affects Phsyical world? If so, then she only gets 3d of MindControl (AP Limitation). This is not nearly powerful enough to be effective. So... do I allow this power to breach the AP limit, do I forgo the +2 Affects Physical World, or do I keep both the +2 and the AP limit and let her only have 3d or Mind Control for Possession? EDIT: The game has a 50 AP Limit
  7. Re: color pic of Ripper?
  8. Re: color pic of Ripper? If it's one thing I 've learned, it's that some Monitors have trouble displaying certain colors (and that some people are color blind to certain colors). For example: I see certain shades of red as Orange. In the Classic Enemies pic, Ripper looks orange (least to me). *Shrug*
  9. Re: What's the most useless supplement you'd actually like to see? Oops, almost forgot mine: B-Horror Movie HERO - Fight the night of living dead, the blob, and The Creature from the Black Lagoon! or That 70's HERO - Detailed with Writeups of CHiPs, Starsky and Hutch, Charlies Angels, The Bionic Man, and other 70's TV Icons. A follow-up Supplement could be That 80's and That 90's HERO.
  10. Re: What's the most useless supplement you'd actually like to see? Not really useless, but I'd definitly add it to my "must get" list. That would be uber-sweet. This would be hella-cool. Arrange it for Military Bases, Cult Lairs, VIPER/ARGENT/DEMON Bases, and Super-Hero Bases!
  11. Re: Base Maps Question and Request If I can make a sugguestion, mayhaps going over the maps with a Felt-tip-Pen would make them more visable *shrug* They look really good, might swipe them and redraw them
  12. Re: Base Maps Question and Request I second the motion. There should be a place to post Character Writeups. Not all of us have a website to post stuff on.
  13. Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share you ideas! Some of these need work... but they were what I could come up with Black Harlequin 1 - Maim Show Black Harlequin captures some of the city's more prominant citizens (businessmen/city officials and the like) and holds them captive on live television. He dares the Heroes to rescue them on his television show, Sudden Death. To make things more fun for him, he rigs the hostages up to electric chairs and gradually cranks up the wattage as each second passes. Not only does he get to enjoy the heroes fighting through a gauntlet of his death toys and listening to the screams of agony as the hostages die a slow death, but he gets to share it with the world. 2 - He only laughs when it hurts. (This one is good if Black Harlequin has not faced the PC's before, but requires boosting his financial dexterity). Having heard of a group of heroes he has yet to taunt, BH has established a foothold in Campaign city and bought the largest mansion in town he spends some months renovating and turning it into a giant funhouse ("Fun for me none for you!") full of death traps, attack toys, and costumed thugs. He then lures the PC's (or abducts them) and seperates them - making sure each one is in a seperate part of the mansion as he watches them fight for their lives. This one was heavily borrowed from an X-Men graphic novel of the same name starring Arcade - I envision Black Harlequin as being a combination of Joker, Toyman, and Arcade as far as how he deals with his enemies. 3 - Death by laughter Tired of the doldrums of the professional world, Black Harlequin has been loading the Air Conditioning systems with part one of his Laff-O-Gas. The second part is introduced through coffie filters. Of course, it's more fun for him if people litterally die laughing. Can the PC's figure out what's killing the city's businessmen before the city's economy buckles?
  14. Re: In order to prevent Munchkinish... The van can only send guns. Once a gun is sent it can't return unless she calls for the van (it has a computer) and puts it back herself.
  15. Re: In order to prevent Munchkinish... Part of the thought behind it was that if someone takes a gun from her, she can just port in another one. And not all missions would be in an Urban Setting. Some could conceivable be miles from Public Roads. So how's this look: 48 Gun Transponder: Multipower 60 pts IIF -1/4 Only if 1 KM from van -0 2u - Modified Berreta 9mm 1d6+1 RKA 15 Rounds/Clip x2 Clips +1/4 STR Min 7 -1/2 OAF -1 Real Weapon -1/4 x4 Guns +10 Points AP: 30+10 RC: 9+10 So if that were her weapon's pool, then if someone yanked one of her Berratas from her hand (via TK or Martial Disarm, she can just abandon the gun and have another one teleported to her, and she can do this 3 times before she runs out of Berratas. But would that allow me to have her pull out 2 Berratas at once and use a Multiattack?
  16. Re: Need help with names! I like Strafe for the gun-toter. And Raptor was reccomended for the Glider (has that name been used?). Was gonna use Chrome Raptor except that sounds like a Megaman Villain.... Overfiend sounds kinda good for the Tentacle guy... still not too sure. Could use the name Backlash... but there was already a powered-armor villain by that name (tho it could be he escaped from Stronghold and upgraded his armor and joined a new team... that would work pretty well...
  17. Okay, I'm working on a Gun-Toting Merc/Villain type. She has a special device concealed under her trenchcoat that can teleport her her weapons into her hands as long as she's 1 KM away from her Van. A freind told me to build it as a Multipower (each slot is one gun built as an OIF and the Multipower itself is built as an IIF). I think this is munchkinish as hell, and thought about this: Teleporation 10" Megascale 1 KM, Guns only, IIF; Fixed Location Or would I build the Van as having the Teleportation Power, chaning the Fixed Location to "Gun Transporter" Best way to do this?
  18. Re: Need help with names! Problem with GunBunny is she is an ex PRIMUS agent... and the group is a trio of Mercenaries... not many would take her seriously... as for Halloween... I'm not keeping the Goblin motif... just the glider concept Dadd Long Legs? Don't think so.
  19. Okay, I'm running a Champs game and have come up with a cool idea for a trio of villains called "The Technophiles" (Basically they are hi-tech villains). I need names for each of the three.. and I don't wanna wind up taking a name already used. So here they are: GunBunny (name I might use) - Uses hi-tech guns, and has a teleportation mechanism inside her coat to bring her weapons from an automated storage system (a computer controlled Van) but she must be within 1 KM of the Van for it to work. Glider type - Somewhat of a GreenGoblin/Hobgoblin adaptation. Basically he flies around on a Glider (bought as a Vehical that only he can pilot). He also carries a variety of bombs, and has a Staff that can fire various energy blasts (MP with OAF). Tentacle/Powered Armor (Inspired by Doc Oc from Spiderman two) - this guy built a powered armor with Tentacles bearing various toys. He has 4 in the back with various toys (a la Doc Oc), plus each of his arms have two retractable whip-like Tentacles. So... what says HEROdom?
  20. Re: Scaling Villains? Right now I'm in the middle of Scaling back Eurostar (least the ones that need it). I left Fiacho alone.. but I've had to decrease Duvak's STR to 60. I also lowered their Defenses so they should be about equal to my PC's (Comparitively; Duvak would be the toughest so his Defenses would be at the top; the others would be scaled down from that comparitively). Tho something I never fully understood.. Fiacho is a Cyborg sort yet his weapons are a focus? And why is it his "Arm Band" weapons weren't put into a Multipower or Elemental Control (which is what I did) so save on Points? Guess he didn't really need it... but my goodness! If a PC dispells his armband... wouldn't that wipe all of his weapons? *shrug*
  21. Okay... I plan on running a home brewed adventure (semi-inspired by the Plot Threads forum) featuing Takofanes. However.. I felt that the Undying King needed to be scaled back so I reduced the power of his Scepter, VPP, and Defenses (and some of the stats)... not to mention set his Scepter and Crown as being Independant Foci. While this namely scaled back his cost, it still left him pretty lethal. Anyone scale back other villains? I've started scaling Eurostar back to fit more within my campaign limits (200/150, 50 AP Limit, 10 DC limit, 26 DEF limit).
  22. Finished Matrix Hovercraft Okay.. there was not enough data for me to build the Osiris. I also had to redo the Generic Hovercraft design because it was too small (took a look at the Zion Archives and compared the dimensions, I was way off). So here they are Susano, you have my full permission to post these on your site. So does anyone else. Just put the following Tag on the writeups: Conversion done by Harland "Cloud" Mountain 2004; email: super_blue_2002@yahoo.com
  23. Re: Generic Matrix Hovercraft I'm flattered. Of course you can. I plan on adding the changes that would emulate the Neb, the Mjolnir, and the Logos to add them to the writeup. I will post the complete writeup WITH the changes needed at a later date in time. I plan on adding in a discription that would allow the users to more closely emulate the other ships. And yes I understand the Osiris IS A part of the main story becuase I am a die-hard Matrix Fanatic; I have all three movies, the video game, the first sound track, and I am working on getting the other soundtracks, the Animatrix, and the MMORPG game). Not to mention that if I had the money I would be getting the comic books as well.
  24. Re: SF Novels for Star Hero? I'm suprised no one's mention the Enderverse by Orson Scott Card Ender's Game Speaker for the Dead Ender's Shadow And there are some other's I'm forgetting...
  25. Re: Generic Matrix Hovercraft Actually the Neb did have cannons (at least one that I could see, look carefully when they are running out of the Ship at the end of Reloaded). And the Logos (Niobe's ship) was the smallest in the fleet. Near as I can tell.. the smaller ships have 2 sets of guns (front and back) the medium ships have 4 (two up and two down, or two left and two right... The Mjolnir (the Biiiiig ship in the 3rd movie) looked like it had 6-8 Cannons (2 top front, 2 side back, and 2 rear belly for certain, possible it had a set of front belly cannons).
