Re: Grab my tentacles
I have to say, the title had me all excited. This is kind of a let down.

Re: 6th Edition is nearly 200 more pages...why?
No. Muffin had a higher COM. Oh, wait…

Re: So when is the PDF going to be available?
Stealth and/or Disguise.
-
Paizo apparently does not have the art for the covers.
Does anyone have the ISBN for the two books? Can anyone tell me which one is HER1001.

Re: 6th Edition is nearly 200 more pages...why?
Well' date=' the stuff going into the APG isn't stuff you [u']need[/u] to play Hero.Leave me and my dead horse alone.

Re: So when is the PDF going to be available?
It is not my fault Teleportation is broken, over-priced and un-fun.

Re: Slowing down Character advancement
Sorry about my tone' date=' I'll keep it more civil.[/quote']No harm. No foul. I am sure my tone started it.
Yeah' date=' I have never played in a game where the GM trusted us enough to give us enough points to build the characters we want (I have run such a game and had a ton of fun).[/quote']I feel you there. As I said, I often run very high point campaigns. I have also frequently considered running a Pointless Champions campaign where we do not bother with piddley Character Points. Just let the players create the character they want.
I was talking about buying Disads off because sometimes in a game' date=' you get to the point where the government trusts you to not watch you anymore, or you have defeated your nemesis in such a way that it really doesn't make sense for them to hunt you any more.[/quote']I am cool with buying off Disadvantages if it makes sense. Hell, I am cool with buying off Disadvantages even if it does not make sense. As a GM, I feel it is the player's character and they can do what they want with them.
If I were to run a campaign where I did not give out XP, I would consider allowing a character to drop a Disadvantage if it had been played out in game. Obviously, I would consider balance issues with the other characters, but generally, I am very lenient.
Also' date=' I have yet to have a character writeup that completely fits the campaign.[/quote']I pretty much allow character re-writes whenever a player requests one. As I said, it is their character. I want them to be happy with it. I have been lucky no one has ever abused this generosity. At the most I think I have had maybe two re-writes during a campaign. Usually at the very beginning as players get use to the campaign.

The books also look to cover most anything you'd need.[sNARK] Except all those things going into APG1, 2, 3… [/sNARK]

Re: So when is the PDF going to be available?
Why were they not built with Teleportation (Only to Avoid Customs)?
-
How about EDM? What?
Transform allows you to add Disadvantages to someone, correct? Why not Power Limitations as well?

Re: Ninja Revenge AAR
I should expect such partisanship from a ninja fan boi.

Re: 6th Edition Question: New Powers?
I was going to say that I was bi-curious about it' date=' but that wouldn't make sense as I missed the second post.[/quote']You can still be bi-curious with me, big boy.

Re: Slowing down Character advancement
In my experience' date=' I never get enough points to build the character that I want. [/quote']Could it be you are setting your expectations too high?
Stagnant characters suck' date=' sorry. [/quote']I would agree with you here, but I think for very different reasons. Characters can grow without raising their Abilities or Skills.
I am sorry that you are too lazy to keep up with your PC's advancement.O.k., I probably deserved that one. It is still irrelevant. My decision on when and how much XP to grant is not based on my laziness (my complete lack of preparation is). I generally know my players' characters better than they do. Often times, I have to remind them how many XP I have given them and ask if they are planning to ever use some.
Special ceremonies and winning battles are satisfying' date=' but XP is really nice too. [/quote']Contacts, favors, fame and changing the world are more fun for me.
It isn't about "leveling up". It's about selling off that hunted after all of these years…While I certainly have no beef with buying off hunteds, if you did not want it to be part of your character, why did you take it to begin with? Disadvantages add depth to characters.
I also look at it this way, in order for the story to be interesting there has to be conflict. If you do not give the GM something to create conflict around, the GM will have to create something on their own. Disadvantages give you some control over the kind of conflict the GM will create.
It seems to me a lot of your frustration revolves around creating the character you want. Which is exactly why generally give out the high end of character points to begin with. I want players to run a character they will enjoy. I never enjoyed starting off at 1st level.
I know from experience (LOL)' date=' that I would be highly dissatisfied playing in any Hero System game that never gave exp. or that gave out minute amounts of exp. I wonder if players in games who are giving out minute exp are really as satisfied as their GM's think...[/quote']I have yet to run a game where I never handed out XP. Considering I have run many games where the players hardly bothered with the XP I did give them, I would consider it. This does not include Contacts, Favors and/or Followers that were earned in game that I generally do not charge for.
I have never had any complaints about the amount of XP I gave out. As I mentioned before, I have had players often forget to spend XP anyway.
I apologize if I came off as combative, Tasha. I certainly did not mean to, but I know I can be very sarcastic.

Re: Your favorite character type
Mystics because I love jack-of-all-trades type characters, but…
If you play in a largish group' date=' it's important for a character to be more narrowly defined, to leave room for other characters to shine.[/quote']…this is always a concern. It helps to know what others are going to play, so I can leave those gaps in my character's abilities.

Re: Player vs. Player
In my opinion, everyone at the table has a responsibility to make the game fun for everyone else. Or, at least, not to ruin anyone else's fun. 'In character' is not an excuse to ignore that responsibility.
Don't be that guy.

Re: look over my Pizza Oven
Gah! I expected an actual pizza oven stats.

Re: Slowing down Character advancement
I am with Sean on this. There are plenty of in game ways to reward players. If you are just playing to 'level up', may I suggest any number of excellent computer games you may enjoy. If you need to advance to meet your character concept, I think you need to have a discussion with your GM. Your expectations may be too different.
I am not suggesting you never reward XP. It depends largely on the type of campaign. I usually run highly cinematic campaigns. I want fully formed PCs that are not going to change much (just like James Bond). If I wanted to go from lowly rat-killers to demigods, I would probably play that certain other game.

Re: How to make the Loner feel not so Lonely?
I wonder what kind of 350 point superhero one could make starting with that power as one of many themed powers. Some sort of minor god of love or something?Anyone care to hazard a guess?
Oooo, a Cupid!

Re: Confessions of Infidelity
I agree it is a matter of degree. You are absolutely correct you can not always take 10 unless you have the appropriate Feats. Yes, Hero Points are more fun to spend on something more than just a re-roll. I certainly feel your pain, having the worst luck with dice myself.
One more point I would like to make, except on attack rolls, a 1 does not mean automatic failure. This is something I misunderstood at first and can add to the feeling of failing 5% of the time.
You are also correct in pointing out that Hero simply has more support for multiple genres. I plan to cannibalize some of True20 when I do get around to playing a more mundane campaign of Mutants & Masterminds.
A lot has to do with my desire for more rules light and cinematic rules sets right now. If I wanted really gritty campaigns, for example, and/or more granularity, I would be more likely to lean towards G.U.R.P.S. than either Hero or M&M.
I find all three systems quite serviceable.

Re: Thrown Mastery or somthing akin....
I like Multipowers because then you can add things like Pin To The Wall Entange, Flip The Switch Telekinesis, 52 Card Pickup or Sand In The Face Flash.

Re: New to Hero - Alterantive tech and Dark Champion Question
I am familiar with GURPS books. There is a lot about alternative technology in GURPS. I find the TL-level sytem a little cluncky. All you need to do then is use those books and build the tech in them using the building blocks of Hero. You can toss the TL system.

Re: New to Hero - Alterantive tech and Dark Champion Question
Welcome!
Are there any available rules for alternative technology/technology paths?
Yes and no. The rules do not present you predefined technologies for alternative paths. There are examples of standard technologies and the building block used to build them. It is left to you to design your own (or steal from another setting). For examples, there is no Ray Gun. But a Ray Gun is nothing more than Energy Blast with Obvious Accessible Focus (OAF). Flavor to taste.

Re: New Mechanic: Movement
Driving/Piloting a vehicle are skills. Are they? Or are they just a means to gain access to a specific power suit that is only usable in very specific circumstances?

Re: Grab my tentacles
I would say let the SFX dictate. I seriously doubt the tentacles *poof* out of existence, therefore Amazona still has hold of one of those suckers.
Not an official answer, but I would go with the straight -5 STR regardless of how many limbs one had.
I hope you and your suggestive title are happy.
