  1. Re: Metamorphosis Personally I would let the player eat a tin can as a goat, but when they went back to normal they would be in a world of hurt. This is something that can be done using both methods. The problem when you go too far down this road is determining what it means to Shapeshift. A player that shape shifts into a bird wants to fly, but doesn’t want to be killed with a single shot from a BB gun. It gets too messy. When I Shapeshift I want to look and feel like the object, say a chair, but not be dismembered by a single hatch blow. When I Shapeshift into a dog, I don’t want a whole character sheet that includes powers granting me the ability to speak, I want to look, feel, and smell like a dog – but not actually be one.

  3. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Don't Cha - Pussycat Dolls. I didn't like it at first, but it just gets addictive... and seeing the video helped.
  4. Re: ghost characters campaign Great idea. My one fear would be that players might become stuck being one-trick ponies. One always uses Telekinesis to solve things, another is stuck turning visible and saying “Boo!” Perhaps work on a way to get them varied yet minor powers that can change with time. A VPP for each character springs to mind. That way if what they have works, they can be forced to keep their original powers, if not they can tweak them as they learn new haunting techniques. One thing that has always struck me as stereotypical for ghosts has been their limitations. Limit their vision, or range of movement. They only view things at night, or can not leave one building that they have been assigned by the bureaucracy. Keep them from being free, they have great powers already make it all come at a great cost… well a cost other then simply dying.
  5. Re: Help me flesh this out... I can think of countless examples from various fictional sources as to what people might do in the situation. For some reason I’m stuck on what players might do in the scenario. - You have mutants that work for the government, accepting it as their calling - Mutants would work for good on their own, without the desire for winning over the public. Batman, or for some reason The Crow comes to mind. - Some of course would be bad, and with the public and church against them they have a good excuse. - Also some mutants would work for the church, a sub-organization or one denomination something along the lines of characters in the anime Hellsing. - A mutant bountyhunter, what better way of catching mutants. Perhaps more later as I mull is over.
  6. Re: Captain Jack Very good to know, I liked the character very much. However, like Curufea I now need more information!
  7. Re: The Thing in Hero Terms I got the impression that it was similar to an infection. One person had been chest deep into it, even though he was still alive, they torched him. The doctor also sabotaged the bases transportation because he calculated the rate of spread if it were to get out.
  8. Re: The Thing in Hero Terms I caught some of this movie yesterday, great flick. Kurt Russell always went at it with flame throwers, some died easily, one decided to run outside while burning so it could be dynamited. I would probably give it vulnerability to fire. I would also throw in extra limbs and stretching, for the tentacles or extra legs. I would let them bleed, as that was one of the detection tests. There are two more complex parts that I see: the infection, transforming variable creatures into "Thing" like creatures with relative ease. The other complex part can be covered by McCoy’s suggestion of Duplication – where limbs or the head of the victim can operate independently of the rest of the creature even if it has been burned to a crisp. For instance in one part the body was burned, but the head decided to wander off.
  9. Re: pulp hero over opinions? I have to join the "Like it" chorus. I think it conveys the feel that the book is trying to create. To an outsider, reading the words Pulp HERO isn’t going to be as much a draw as seeing what Pulp HERO is.
  10. Re: Random "Stuff" generation tables I really like the Tradesmen table, wide variety with everything I can think of and more. You might want to tweak the numbers up a bit, perhaps a 1-1000 roll just to give a greater chance of hitting a common trade. You have a 3% chance of getting a Cook and a 1% chance of getting a Falconer or Physician. I would think that Cook should be far more common. I’ve book marked your site, as one thing that I like even more then the Tradesmen and Merchants list are your lists of random names. Great work.
  11. Re: Building "Eye of Thoth" (Kult Conversion) I’m impressed by the fact you are converting Kult. Great game, as long as you capture the proper feel you can’t go wrong. No criticism of the power, I do agree with adding Concentration. Although, with having Extra Time, Gestures, and Incantations, adding Concentration may just be overkill for something that is already a given.
