  1. Re: Fox of Crime info Are you talking about The Fox? The guy who teleports and carries cream pies? I always loved that guy, and used him more than once as a GM.
  2. Re: Alternate Marvel Universe Mary Jane. "Oh, the ironing...."
  3. Re: Whatever Happened To: The one with Seeker on the cover? I'm thinking yes...
  4. Re: Superhero Characteristics Templates Well, yeah. These are supers, right?
  5. Re: Whatever Happened To: in 1ed & 2ed the proto-hero was called, IIRC, Crusader. When Dark Champions came out he transitioned into Dark Crudader, with an overall power level downgrade and more skills. Don't know if he's in hte Champions universe at all now, as I haven't seen him since 3rd ed.
  6. Re: Superhero Characteristics Templates When I run a campaign I use "campaign norms." All PCs are expected to keep their various charicteristics within the range of campaign norms: DCs - 12 DEX - 24-30 SPD - 4-6 PD/ED - 18-30 CV - 8-10 AFTER all skill levels & martial maneuvers EXCEPT Dodge & Martial Dodge If players want their character to exceed campaign norms in one area then they may, but the character must also be BELOW campaign norms in at least TWO other areas.
  7. Re: Whatever Happened To: There are other examples of this (the kinky stuff, I mean): Early Wonder Woman was just thinly veiled bondage porn. In City of Heroes on Pretorian Earth Tyrant is carrying on an affair with his own granddaughter. As far as stuff dropping out of the official CU, I miss Turtle Armor...
  8. Re: Using Powers to simulate team tactics Best I ever did was multi-form rip-off of Dee & Cee from Batman Beyond (who was voiced by the Teenage Witch herself, Milissa Joan Hart). Two low-power matrial artist/gadgiteers, but with high levels of Teemwork skill & +CV to offset hit location penalties. Individually neither was very powerful, but together they could regularly pull off 16d6 combined attacks to the vitals. Other players thought the character was overpowered, but the GM backed me up. He then simply used knockback & move throughs to keep the two of them separated on the battlefield.
  9. Are the events from Champions Universe: News of the World covered in Champions Universe 6th ed?
  10. Re: In The Cards Quazar "Contain those summoned threats! We can't allow them to get loose in the city!" Attacks threats with energy blasts while making radio back-up request calls to all other super team members, the local chief of police, the State Police Commandante, and the local Sliver Avenger of Primus (all 11 or less contacts). Shadowhunter "Nice tricks, Ace. Can you still cast spells with broken teeth? Let's find out!" Close to HtH range, make Find Weakness roll, repeated Called Shots to the face... Mystica "You dare summon nether horrors in MY city? Now you will learn why the Morbane's fear my wrath!" Engage ringleader in mystical combat, all while using her Descriminating Mystical Awareness sense and her Mystical Analyse skill to learn all she can about the kind of magic & types of spells he uses.
  11. Re: What Champions books are 6th ed? Forget it. Amazon has 11 copies of Champions Universe 6th ed in stock. I'll but the hard copy there and the PDF here.
  12. Re: What Champions books are 6th ed? Yes, and it offers the PDF of Champions Universe 6th ed, and the HD file, but not the hard copy.
  13. Re: What Champions books are 6th ed? Champions Universe doesn't seem to be available in hard copy. Is this correct? if so, will this be changing? What is the ETA?
  14. Re: My character building technique (How to build Hero System Characters) "IF (and that's a big IF) the GM is A. willing to provide the above information (beyond point levels - that's always given)" I always provide my players with "campaign norms" for DEX, SPD, PD/ED, DCs, & CV. That's always given in a range, like "DEX 24-30, SPD 4-6,..." I then tell the players that their characters must fall within the range for campaign norms. I give them the option for their character to exceed campaign norms in ONE AREA, but if he does then he must fall BELOW campaign norms in TWO other areas. I then give them my word as GM that they can expect ALL NPCs will fall within campaign norms EXCEPT master villians/giant monsters.
  15. I'm rebuilding my Champoins collection after several years out of gaming. I understand that the current Hero Games rules set is 6th ed. What Champions books are 6th? FWIW, I'll be buying Hero Designer, and for each book I'll be buying the hard copy, the PDFs, and the Hero Designer files for all of them. (BTW, please don't try to sell me the "They're all 6th ed compatable" line. I want to know what books were written as 6th ed books.) Champions Complete seems to be the main Champions genera book plus the 6th ed Hero System core rules, and is available in hard copy and PDF. Is there a Hero Designer file for this book? Champions Universe is the setting book. Hard copy is unavailable, but the PDF is, and there is an HD file. Are the characters in the HD file 6th ed or 5th ed? I see three villian books, Masterminds, Teams and Solo, with PDFs & HD files. I assume these are all 6th ed? Are all the old school villians like Destroyer, Mechanon, Ogre, Foxbat, Plusar, etc. in these books, or are they all new? Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, phy
  16. Re: What makes a great Iron Age campaign setting? The whole premise of the Iron Age is that there are no heroes. The cops, the politicians, the clergy, school teachers, and especially the superheros, are all corrupt, selfish, thieves, alcoholics, drug adicts, rapists, pedophiles, rotten to the core, and this is the most important part - hypocritical. The only ones who are "honest" are the villians. They tell you what they're going to do and then they do it. You pay them off and they protect you. You cross them and they come after you. Think Mel Gibson in Payback. Or go watch Braveheart on DVD while streaming Mel Gibson's various racist rants over the internet at the same time. Iron Age is the Silver Age upside down, and Bizarro is the hero.
  17. Re: World with superheroes - Only one power set?
  18. Re: World with superheroes - Only one power set? I really wanted the setting to be modern times, plus Jedis. So you've got all the modern nations, you've got the UN, but you've also got the Jedi who answer to NONE of them. So if one country invades another the President gets a polite message from the Jedi temple - "Mr. President, withdraw your army. If come 7:00 AM tomorrow your army isn't withdrawn, a team of Jedi will come to your capital. Don't worry, Mr. President. We won't kill you tomorrow. We'll start with your children first."

  20. Re: World with superheroes - Only one power set?
  21. Superhero power sets come in all manner of combinations & variaties. What power set or combination of powers would be most interesting in a world with superheroes & supervillians, but all heroes & villians had the same power set? And I'm not just talking super agents, but honest-to-god "I laugh at your AK-47" superpowers.
  22. Re: Last Dance With Mary Jane... Quazar - He'd use his helemt radio set to access the cell phone system, place a call to Campaign City Chief of Police (he's a contact) and report the crop. Mystica - Who has time for these things when there are teenagers summoning demons all across town? Maybe if these teenagers smoked some of this marijuana then they wouldn't be rummaging through the attics of abandon houses and stumbling on forgotten spell books. Look, I'd love to stay and chat but I just got a call that a Morbane has broken into a locked vault of the Campaign City Public Library... Shadow Hunter - He'd stake out the patch and wait for the tenders to come back. Then he'd subdue them and find out who they worked for. He'd work his way up the chain to the Big Boss, and then he'd make him pay.
  23. Re: Gods with Off Switches vs. Loaded Guns. DC vs. Marvel in Character Design. The Gods with Off Switches is very Golden Age. The Loaded Guns is very Silver Age. Neither are appropriate in the Bronze or Iron age, other than characters that are highly Focus-dependant.
  24. Re: Dodging a Mental Power
  25. Re: Anyone running an online supers game? looks like I'm gonna have to bow out Epi. I had anticipated making a large Hero Games purchase that included 6th Ed I&II. Now it looks like that's not gonna happen. Sorry for getting both our hopes up, phy
