  2. Very Cool Character. A friend of mine did something similar with an old TV Cowboy. He based his powers "old TV western physics": "Just a Scratch": Armor, Invisible Effects. TV heroes were never seriously injured. When they got shot, it was always in the arm. "Right as Rain": Healing, All Powers at the Same time, Self Only: TV heroes, when knocked out (Real World requires Level 2 concussion), they wake up a few scenes later. Both of those could be applied to Captain Video. As far as other powers, TV spacemen of the 50s all had rayguns. And goggles. I like the idea of someone having the cape and thinking he is Captain Video. How about his fanclub willing his Arch Enemy ala Ming the Merciless into his existance as well? Have to agree with Supreme on the costume. Cool Design but not 1950s. How about a Silver Lame jumpsuit with a hood and fin?
  3. I've been on a mythology kick... I.S.I.S. - Intergrated Sentient Intelligence System Kinda (if you turn your head and squint) goes with the 'shiny' of silver and the bird of prey motif (Isis' son was Horus, the hawk headed god).
  4. Working on a character who was a Detroit firemen during the Battle of Detroit. He realized that a lot of people could have been saved if rescue personnel could have survived in some of the conditions the victims were trapped in (high radiation, intense heat, etc). So he goes to engineering school and comes up with a suit of powered armor (I love Comic Book Science!) that will allow a fireman to rescue someone in virtually any environment. I've been toying with ATLAS (All-Terrain L Armored System) but can't come up with anything for the 'L'. Also, I'm not set on the name and would be open to suggestions. Thanks in advance to the learned panel for the ideas.
  5. Re: Re: Re: Ethnic stereotyping in heroes and villains Great minds think alike
  6. Hmmm, what's the team name? Did a player invent it, and if so what is the characters name? It's sometimes easier to derive a slick name if its related to the creator. BTW, all superteam computers in my universe are manufactued by a company called TroubAlert
  7. Re: Ethnic stereotyping in heroes and villains Funny you should cite both of these examples. I have an Italian American villain much like the Mexican example called Greaseball. Greaseball is his 'Mob Nickname'. One of the old Mob Bosses in Chicago (I forget which one) was called "the Whop". I consider it more realism than racism. I played in a campaign many years ago with a really well fleshed out background. The WWII hero team included two members, White Wizard and Scarlet Sleuth. Upon the end of the War, Scarlet Sleuth was revealed as African-American. White Wizard, who of course was a KKK member, went ballistic and two men who had watched each other's back throughout the war were now bitter enemies. Again, I feel its more realism than racism. I guess it all depends on the sensitivity of your group. I happen to be the lone Gentile in a group of Jewish gamers. One of them is quite militant, to the point where he always confronts even the most noble German and Arab characters in the game with animosity. The subject is taken very seriously by him and has actually led to some good sessions where he realizes that he himself sometimes is racist in his leanings.
  8. And sometimes they're 35 going on 12, like a few of my players..."He said sex *giggle* *giggle*" RFLMAO! Another bad omen is when you ask them about their gaming style and they recount a 'war story' about how they defeated an Orc Army with Tenser's Floating Disk.
  9. Wildside Came up with some art for Wildside
  10. The post is coming from inside the house!
  11. Are you my twin? A chronal duplicate of me? A clone? I could have told this story with 'the names changed to protect the goofball'.
  12. Thanks so far! Chaosliege: Good idea. Think I'm going to actually use that for Wildside. I have an established Miraclo ripoff called 'Vitamin J' that is based on the Jekyll/Hyde formula and goes well with Wildside's concept. Hermit: All good ideas. I have a gangboss in another campaign called Loneshark that sounds a lot like Mako. Acroyear: Good slant to Wildside. I pictured her being like that. Sort of an 'Iron Butterfly', really shrewd businesswoman not afraid to use sex as a weapon. Doug: Thanks for the compliment. I actually stole the concept from the Terrible Trio from the Batman mythos. And I think the 5th member is going to be a dotcom millionaire that bought a Powered Armor suit from Warlord. Peregrine: LOL. Reminds me of the MAD TV parody of Politically Incorrect where Will Sasso does a send up of Clinton as a 'playa'. Hysterical!
  13. VOICE: Vanguard Organization for International Crime and Espionage I do not believe that COIL is an acronym.
  14. Was there a roll involved? I usually assign some kind of penalty (in this case I'd call it a called shot to to the head -8 OCV). If the attempt is successful, I'd say poor Piledriver was Flashed for one phase. I reward players for creative manuevers like this. I think they bring a sense of the comics to the game.
  15. Man, I can't actually believe this is has happened to someone else. The player's best friend and I gently asked Sleeping Beauty 'to take a few weeks off, to catch up on his sleep'. He never came back.
  16. Absolutely! Some of the most enjoyable sessions I've had were "OK, this group of villains is going to try and steal X, let's see what happens". Another good suggestion. I'm a big Law and Order fan and have adapted a few of their episodes before. Other ramblings...look at all the NPCs, villains, background you've created a 2nd time. Sometimes another look will inspire you. How's about player writeups? Maybe someone has similar hunteds? DNPCs with a common theme? Similar Origins? All I can say is I can sympathize with you, although my temporary retirement was more malaise with dealing with a few of my players. Hard to create stories for someone who don't want them created.
  17. The Destruction Co. is one of my Hunteds! Power Tool was my college Engineering School rival. They really prey upon my penchant for theme based teams.
  18. Thanks for the compliment. I have never heard of such a tutorial, but if you find it let me know. I just use templates I found on http://www.wuji-web.com/multiverse_index.html which was recommended by Acroyear. Darren's stuff is really mind blowing. I also purchased How to Draw DC Comics SuperHeroes. Not very good for the basics, but it is good for proportion and such.
  19. Underworld Enemies or Murderer's Row?
