RIP Penny. You made me laugh

My ivory coast hero is Siaka Ouattara, better known for his nomme de guerre, Starcaller. According to his aunt and uncle who raised him, he's the son of an office manager (his aunt's younger sister) and an extra terrestrial scientist/missionary.
Starcaller's powers center around a "star field" (night sky appearance with blue white glowing eyes) which grants him flight, defense, life support, sensors and energy control. He's similar to the Superfriends era Green Lantern in that he can make (at this point) only simple constructs and blasts. He has visited the Moon under his own power. His mother died in childbirth.
My Egyptian teen hero would be a young woman who may or may not have magical brick powers granted by the Heliopolis Warrior Goddess Bast. But she's not about to announce this. She goes by the name Pillar (of The Community) and exhibits Super Strength, toughness, healing, and swiftness. She may or may not have been seen arguing with someone who wasn't there.

I am really missing 2008

we're hitting a rough patch. But wow, CMC.

Nice Win Log-Man! I thought I had you for about 2 mintues ...

Cousins might be a good choice, but I don't recall his teammates having trouble with him as much as coaches.
Griffin maybe.

The Princess Bride is one of my favorite books. Movies too. Loved Butch and Sundance as well.
Rest In Peace, Sir.

yeah they've looked pretty pedestrian, he's been the worst but not the only problem.
More a surprise to me is how mediocre the Celtics have looked.
We'll see if the Jimmy Butler to Philly experience is good.
And how about those Kings? They've been entertaining at least.

Eh...it's been one of those months where football isn't important so much anymore. Also, hubby is more depressed about the Cavs.
My sympathies to him on that Front.

Excelsior, Uncle Stan. Thanks for the memories.

Well...the Browns punched Atlanta in the nuts. And the Titans crowned the Pats.
...awkward in the Cygnia household today?

self-respect isn't a Raiders core value.

out of context excerpt:
E: "So the elves magically bred smarter, horned horses to honor their Unicorns allies by...making them mounts and beasts of burden?"
A: "It sounds worse when you say it like that."
E: "What did the Unicorns think?"
A: "They thought it sounded a lot like that."
E: "..."
A: "..."
A: "It wasn't one of the finer moments of elvish humility, true, but we got neat horses."

I slept last night. Pretty sure I won't be participating this year, but I'll be watching progress reports here.
What, no romance novel? ?

If the 49ers are bad, what does that make the Raiders? I totally skipped the game, but just a quick glance through the stats...no defense, no offensive line, a kid in his first start for the Niners, and 34-3? Feels like that's rewriting the history of Bad.
One can definitely suspect that there's some number of Raiders who've totally checked out.

Saw some posts about this being Gruden's Long Con to destroy the team that fired him. Wait til the owner dies, get his idiot son to hire you. Destroy the team from within.,

Unfortunately their current coordinators are also failures at the HC level.
THey fired the OC too.

Wizards are paying him more too. It's not like Carmelo is Johnny Sunshine, and Howard does give ya 16 and 12.
I wouldn't want either one, that's for sure. I think I'll still say Carmelo is worse because Houston thought they had a real shot. And perhaps they will when the full team gets back together...but I have my doubts. Anthony, Paul, and Harden...there's still only 1 ball on the court at a time. Wizards...yeah, right. Their guards are the only thing that give them a chance, and the major problem as well. One could say Howard fits right in.
Ooh! How about a starting five of: Harden, Paul, Howard, Anthony, and...we need another locker room killer for this. Preferably a PF.

I still think Dwight Howard will prove worse than Carmelo as far as pickups go. The ultimate clubhouse cancer put onto a team barely holding together as is, due to previous locker room drama.
That's entirely possible. The Wizards are dreadful without him even. I don't think that their expectations were as high, however.

The doc asked me if anyone in my family had suffered from skin cancer and I blurted that my uncle Richard had died from it.
Then I remembered he was my step-dad's brother. Embarrassment ensued.

It's been looking that way since the suspensions. LA's two 2nd pick "Busts" their rookie seasons are both looking like players in seasons 2 and 3. Brandon Ingram can play on the floor with LeBron which has been good for the team.
And JaVale McGee has been a damn good starter early. It frustrates me no end to say all of this.
On the positive side, while Meyers Leonard doesn't seem like he'll ever be the answer, second year Zach Collins has been more than solid for the Blazers. And with an unfortunate loss to the Apprentices in Washington behind us, Portland has been looking pretty good in the early season with Houston's completely predictable swoon after losing two of their best defenders and replacing them with Cancer Anthony.

So the Raiders have no place to play next season, is that what I'm hearing?
