  1. Re: Those Meddling Kids...

What do you guys think of a campaign type based on the Hanna Barbara cartoons of the 70s? Scooby Doo, Jabberjaws, Josie and the Pussycats (J&tP in Outer Space). I'm sure there are a couple more I'm forgetting too.

    Important tropes:

    4-5 Teenagers

    Animal Mascot

    The Van (submarine, spaceship, etc)

    Hijinks

A heroic level campaign, probably just normals and buying equipment for money. You would probably want to stretch each episode over a couple of sessions.

Just because I fel like sharing. I wrote these up for a convention game many years ago (Yes, someone got to play the dog)

    Daphne Blake

    Fred Jones

    Norville "Shaggy" Rogers

    Velma Dinkley

    Scoobert "Scooby" Doo

  2. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares

we'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that this half hour of

    THE DRIZZT MORNING SHOW

    is brought to you by

    DRIDOL

the herbal elixir that helps dark-elven women

get comfortably through that special time.

Cause when you've got eight legs and a thorax,

that's a crapload of bloating and cramping, let me tell ya.

Drip the Dark Elf doesn't exist in my world-view.

  3. Re: Batman meets Doc Savage

Yep, and you know the BEST thing.......

It's March. First Wave is HERE!!!! And it's GREAT!

    ~Rex

Well, it was OK. I wouldn't call it great, but it's mostly the portrayal of the Spirit that's bugging me.

  4. Re: Star Wars licence news...

I think what Peregrine is saying is that having an ongoing Star Wars RPG on the market' date=' that someone is paying you a fee for, amounts to someone paying LucasFilm to market LF's brand for them -- that even if they sold the license for $10, it would be a win for LucasFilm.[/quote']

Except that the earned income from the license must be enough for LucasFilm to justify the cost of vetting and approving all materials created under the license. Having someone "market your brand" is only a good thing if they do it the way you want it done.

  5. Re: My Heroes Have Always Been GIANTS! (Long)

I always thought is was funny that he claimed his power was actually shrinking (he's naturally huge).

Isn't his power technically Shrinking though? I thought he gets bigger if he's knocked out... (Trigger for Growth' date=' since actually giving him Shrinking probably screws things up)[/quote']

This was only in the "Threeboot" version of the team (the Mark Waid > Tony Bedard > Jim Shooter series). In all prior (and the upcoming future) incarnation of the book he was a regular Earth-born human who acquired the power to grow due to "exposure to weird radiation".

  6. Re: What's Up With These Protestors? (2 parts)

    A. They're obviously protesting the fact that our heroes have not flown across the Atlantic and "taken care of" der Fuhrer.

    B. (I'm the GM so I don't have a character, so...) I'm sure at least of the heroes would calmly explain the crowd that Roosevelt has specifically tasked them with protecting the homefront, but they're sure that our boys in Europe will give those ratzis the thumping they deserve.

  7. Re: A Storeowner's First Impression

While as I noted I have known people who liked that' date=' I wouldn't play anything outside of a Con game or the like with a character that I didn't create myself. Most of the people I've gamed with have felt the same, though there have of course been the few exceptions...[/quote']

I prefer to make my own character, and know many people who do also - but I have also been in groups where it was not uncommon for me to look around the table and realize that I had built every character in play (and, oddly enough, I wasn't the GM).

  8. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive

Current status is "OUT FOR DELIVERY" in the city I live in. Should be waiting for me when I get home.

    Yay!

As anticipated, mine (along with the APG which had been ordered separately) was sitting at home waiting for me when I arrived. Pity I spent all night doing homework (and let me tell you, to be ding homework at my age is a crime all by itself). Should provide hours of reading this weekend.

  9. Re: Followed by a Cloud of Radioactive Wasps

    Fisking through more powers.

What can my loyal swarm of Radioactive Wasps do for me ?

    Low body stoppage -:- Barrier

    Force Wall, Ablative

Versus Certain Attack forms -:- Damage Negation

    Armor, Ablative

Block the beams -:- Flash Defense

    Cover the lights -:- Darkness

Versus certain rad sensitive gear -:- Flash

spell out words like ant-man -:- Images

    scouting parties -:- Enhanced Senses

Clairesentience? (Standard senses, enhanced, are still stopped by obstacles. Clairesentience amounts to "put the origin point of my senses someplace else" which seems more like what a scouting party would do).

    perception bonus -:- Skills

well duh. prolly NND. -:- Blast

tell me if anyone shows up -:- Clairsentience

    Mind Scan?

block those lasers for me -:- Deflection

negate other swarms or animal based powers -:- Dispel
