Re: Where is your campaign based?
For the last several years, my games (Pulp Hero and Champions) have been set in Neptune City - a fictional port city in south-eastern Virginia (suspiciously close to where I grew up). Being an old DC Silver Age fan, I love the freedom that fictional cities give you for super hero stories.

Re: Old Marvel Super Heroes to Champions conversion.
There was an old AC with conversion notes for Mayfair's DC Heroes game too' date=' but in that case the values were "curved" downwards for the higher-end folks like (Pre-Crisis) Superman (who'd have a 250 STR doing a straight conversion, but the curved value was still 150).[/quote'] -
Re: Young Godlings
This is a campaign idea I've been toying with for a while, setting it in something like the Land of Legends of the Champions Universe. It is inspired by a solo campaign I ran for over a year with a valkyrie as the hero. The PCs are young godlings, born or created in the centuries since the Ban came down that blocked the gods from actively interfering in the affairs of men, coming together to form an adventuring party and seeing what trouble they can find. My original idea was to have everyone be from the Norse pantheon, but I've since re-considered expanding the idea to something more cross-pantheon.
What are some things I can have the party do? I figure I'd start with more straight-forward adventures like beating up giants and demons and exploring around. They are building their legends and will likely later get assignments from the elder gods like Odin and Zeus.
I think the right starting power level would be High-Powered Superhero at 500 points to get an epic feel.
Welcome to the world of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Re: New to running a Fantasy Hero game
That one is the easiest. You just get stingy with the experience you award. You scale it down from your Champions campaign. When I run a 125-200 pt campaign I usually award no more than 10 exp pts per game night and to earn 10 you had better have done a lot. Usually is more like 2-5 pts per game night at best. The thing to remember is that most characters are going to level up skills and characteristics. Unless your some kind of spellcaster who would be improving powers or buying new spells.Wow! My players would go nuts. For Fantasy Hero I usually give out 1 to 2 per session, with maybe an extra 1 or 2 points when they successfully wrap up a major plot. (For Champions 1 do 2 to 3).

Re: Usable maps of Pangea
I like this one, but I can't figure out how to manipulate the "layers" they speak of.Download the PDF (link on the page you referenced). Open PDF in a recent version of the Acrobat Reader. Go to the View Menu, choose Navigation Panels, and then Layers.

Re: 2nd Edition Character sheets
As for the "Official" 2nd Edition CSheets. They were before the internet, I am not sure that anyone bothered to scan one. If you can't find anything there, I have some Word Docs that we used for earlier edition champions.
Here's something I found on Google
Sherman, set the WABAC machine for 1982...

Re: NYC Playtesters?
Hey guys! Real Life has once again thrown my regular Tuesday night GA game into disarray' date=' so I'm looking for 1-2 more players who can make it into Manhattan on a regular (!) basis to come join our long-term Golden Age game. Drop me a line if you're interested! dw[/quote']580 miles!:cry::cry:

Re: Usable maps of Pangea
I've often thought of the proto-continent of Pangea, which existed some 175 million years ago before the continental drift tore it to pieces, as a nice piece of geography to have for a sweeping fantasy campaign world. An actual campaign would, of course, only cover a tiny fraction of the enormous landmass, but all that space and all those inland seas have some appeal.I've seen a few speculative maps of Pangea online, but nothing that is especially helpful in terms of printing out portions and placing RPG stuff on it. So I'm wondering whether there is such an animal out there.
I like this one.

Re: ...If I End Up In an Urban Fantasy Novel
The mid to late Run Anita books are Romance Novels with sections of intense Action/adventure. They aren't really written for guys. Also the last couple of Major Anita novels have gotten back to the feel of the early novels (Flirt not being a "major novel"). 90% of the Urban Fantasy genre are books that are written for Women that have deep romance threads. You complaining about this would be like me complaining about the Action genre not having enough interpersonal relationship stuff. Those books aren't written to attract me as a reader' date=' they are written for guys.[/quote']The problem with the Anita Blake novels though is how much they changed. The feel of the first few is pretty well encapsulated by the tag phrase on the back of the first novel: "I don't date Vampires, I kill them." They garnered a noticeable number of male readers due to this.
Several novels later they had morphed into raunchy paranormal romance novels, leaving the early audience feeling like the victims of a bait and switch. If they had started as paranormal romance novels I never would have started reading them - and wouldn't care.

Re: Thundarr the Barbarian on DVD
Cool. Anyone know where I can score The Herculoids.or the space starsSorry, neither have been released as full series collections yet. However, a few related ones have, so I've been enjoying "Space Ghost and Dino Boy: The Complete Series" and "Birdman and the Galaxy Trio: The Complete Series" quite a bit.

Re: Cosmic Centurions
should the centurions already be special before they don the mantle?or can they just be regular normal dudes who just happen to have
the right mind-set to become a Cosmic Centurion ?
To kind of follow the Green (Red, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Violet, Indigo, Puce, Mauve, Taupe, Cyan, Magenta) Lantern-ish idea, all of the people chosen to wield a ring have a (non-super) ability.
As an example, the people chosen for Green posses the ability to overcome great fear. It's a minor thing (in game terms) but a great weeding out trait.

Re: The move to FTP
If you're not WOW you're desperate for players. Some games are just more willing to show a little leg.Even WOW is contemplating switching to a free to play, pay to upgrade kind of model.

Re: Naming the first superhero
For my Neptune City setting, the first super-powered hero was named Centurion. The name was a bit of a play on words with regards to his origin - he comes from one century in the future. (He's a modern-day "Superman" type who got thrown back in time and was unable to return).

As it should be.
How much do you customize the setting?

Re: How much do you customize the setting?
I typically use a custom setting me and a couple of friends have been building - but I incorporate published Champions elements from time to time if I like them.
