  1. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns?

My typical Champions setting (Neptune City) - in it's Golden Age incarnation - is full of pastiches of characters from both Marvel and DC's Golden Age. They tend to be very obvious and not really used much, existing primarily to give the players a sense of flavor. Centurion (Superman), Black Fox (Batman), Champion (Wildcat), All-American (Captain America), Golden Knight (Shining Knight), Goshawk (Hawkman), Just In Time (Flash), Minute Man (Hourman), Vixen (Catwoman), Warner Wolff (Lex Luthor), and others.

  2. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore

I dunno' date=' the part of the crust past the toppings is pretty bland to me, no matter what. I usually skip it, unless I can dip it. I kinda miss Pizza Hut's 'Edge' pizza, where you didn't have that border of just-crust around the outside ...[/quote']

If it's a good crust than it's just a good piece of bread. Love good bread...

  3. Re: Creepy Pics.

    Spoilered for size

You know, most of them just look like what they are: women with hair Photoshopped onto them. A few of them though, actually look like men. I find this disturbing on many levels.

  4. Re: Starting versions of Reed Richards and the rest of the Fantastic Four

Okay it's been a while since I read the FF but wasn't it recently stated that he can literally expand his brain and get more neurons firing to get smarter? It would be a scarey thing to walk in on him in a recliner with his head blown up the size of say a Volkswagen.

This is something that gets touched upon every once in a while - usually is odd mini-series - and promptly forgotten in the main title.

  5. Re: MYTHIC HERO Kickstarter

It's very strange (to me) that this project seems to have less interest than The Book of the Empress. No insult intended to Empress, but Mythic Hero just seems like a more generically useful book so I would have expected to see indications of broader interest. Ah well, still a week to go.

  6. Re: Fictional cities

Im just wondering from gms when you guys use a fictional city(that you created) for a campaign' date=' do you guys create a history of the city, or do you guys create it as you play the camapign.[/quote']

I favor the fictional city approach - with familiar bits. My default super-setting is Neptune City, which is based loosely (and sometimes recognizably) on Norfolk, VA.

  7. Re: basic rule book

can you get by with 6ed basic to play champions or do you need the other books for 6th ed.

From a rules/system perspective, the basic rule book has everything you need (although maybe not everything you'll eventually want). As the name implies, it has all of the basic rules, dropping some of the more complicated bits. You can do long running campaigns with just the rules presented within (and, personally, for games at conventions I prefer it). Now, there is no campaign source material in this book (or any of the "rule" books).

  8. Re: Charlton Action Heroes

Heh, folks are still debating it. Only Julius Schwartz knows for sure and obviously he ain't talkin no more (shame to he was brilliant). Plas made it fairly well in the pre flashpoint DCU, even making Batman's List of "Never Wanting to Fight *insert name here*"....

I think the DCnU made a big mistake NOT bringing Ted Kord Back. On the other hand in order to do that they would have had to fix this crappy time span they have all this new stuff crammed into, and that's before you get into the problems of maybe having Dan Garrett around as well... I don't get why DC has this thing going where they constantly throw a new coat of paint on something that Always Fails, instead of running with what their fanbase is actually asking for.... Creators Pet Projects. I expect at least 12 more attempts to get enough people liking Jaime Reyes that he actually gets a steady fanbase going.....

So yeah I miss the BBII. Charlton rolled out some strong characters.

Hmmm... Other than Captain Atom, are any of the old Charlton characters being actively used in the new DC? (Blue Beetle doesn't count. He's very much NOT either of the Charlton Blue Beetle's, and so far I don't think the new title has created any actual link between them).

Myhaps DC is planning to revive Earth-4?

  9. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore

    Pate De Chateau Blanc

    12 White Castle Hamburgers

    4 eggs

    1 cup milk

    1/4 cup cognac

    1/4 tsp leaf marjoram

    pinch allspice

Remove half the bun from each White castle hamburger and discard.

Discard pickle, grind in food/meat grinder then add eggs and liquids or blend in food processor with eggs and liquids a few at a time. Do not puree. Pack mixture into an greased standard sized bread pan. Place pan into a larger pan and pour boiling water into the larger pan to level half the depth of the bead pan. Bake in @350 for 1 hour. Cool loaf in refrigerator, overnight is best. Turn it out on a plate, decorate with cream cheese and stuffed olives. And cut pate into slices.

You know, it doesn't sound horrible.

  10. Re: Neverwinter site

The only Neverwinter worth a crap, is Neverwinter Nights 1. They keep trying to recreate that games popularity but they insist on avoiding what MADE it popular in the first place.

    ~Rex

Ah NWN1. My wife and I played the heck out of that game, and most of the expansions.

  11. Re: Stretching Character Art?

As far as I've been able to tell' date=' no. I'm pretty sure Jimmy didn't even become Elastic Lad during his stint with superpowers during [i']52[/i] (though I could be mis-remembering). But I'm glad someone mentioned him before I could; it's certainly memory-worthy.

Yep - he did. He exhibited every goofy Silver Age power he ever had during that story.
