  1. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign I figured something along the lines of a claw or pincher on the end of the 2 forward arms. This would allow gripping, pushing buttons, pulling knobs and levers, etc. Of course this would also neccesitate either development of Vrusk configured technology, and/or adapters to allow Vrusk to use alien (human) technology. However, I have also learned that changing the rigging on a model is not a simple thing. As to applying simian features to a non-simian its the same problem as re-rigging the Vrusk claws just from a different angle. The devourer morph that Jim selected to represent Yazarians is a morph of a human model. Applying simian changes to this would be trying to morph a morph, rather than morph a base model, which can have unpredictable/strange results.
  2. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign LOL... I love the hat!
  3. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign I would enjoy a really high powered Champs game. They are indeed spectacular in battles, but I agree with GA about 2/3 of the time it is other RP stuff...
  4. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Speaking of absences, I am having to go on a business trip the week of 28 June and so I won't be able play, and Terrie does not know how to connect to the server by herself. I offered to show her but she is not sure she can handle it. I apologize in advance. So Terrie and I will be there this week, then miss a week, then we'll be back every week till sometime in late Sep. when we move, and we'll miss one week then as well (most likely). I'll keep everyone posted.
  5. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign I like em... makes me want to get busy with images again
  6. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Well yeah, I seem to recall seduction, critical success rolls, etc... But Wade was a perfect gentleman and resisted all advances Sam's virtue is Safe , or at least what happens in Prenglar stays in Prenglar
  7. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Well there was some discussion about third dates and head bonking but the main thing to remember is "it's all good" ! I have had issues with comcast myself lately. My last outage lasted 4 days, as it occured over a weekend and since I was the only one affected they refused to come out till monday (some kids had pulled down my cable wire outside). I went from friday till monday with no internet, no tv reception, and because I use voip, no phone service except my cell. I was lucky that the pranksters hit in the wee hours of Friday morning rather than earlier Thursday night.
  8. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign The game was ok... but short (we tried to wait on you for a while and apparently the main plot hook for last night was planned to center around Sam). We went as far as getting to our rendevous with the Icarus, in voidspace... and TaRang docked the ship I sent you a copy of the game log from last night... And Sam is ok... really... Wade didn't let anything happen to her.. I promise.
  9. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Sounds good
  10. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign I just hit refresh and now the GA server is completely gone from the list of servers... on the other hand Prestos playground just came online. If you want to keep testing so that you can get your server up I am willing.
  11. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Sorry Boss... no joy! same error
  12. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Sorry Nol, when I try to connect I get a "failed to connect to server" error, I tried a couple of the other sreves in the list and was able to connect with no problems.
  13. Re: Astrophysics question Actually your question resides in the realm of Particle Physics... and is onr of the unanswered questions in the science of physics. So far our discernable Universe is composed mostly of matter (as we know it). There is a miniscule amount of anti-matter that resides within stars (the annilihation of this anti-matter connecting with matter is part of the stars constant energy production). On earth very miniscule amounts are able to created in labs, but they connect to matter and annilihate so quickly that they are able to exist just barely long enough for scientists to stusdy some of the effects and properties. But as far as is known there are no blob of free floating anti-matter, no galaxies within our universe composed of anti-matter, etc. Now could such things exist in your Star Hero campaign... sure it's your universe. Most SH games include FTL travel, and many including one that I play in uses voidspace where we actually enter an alternate universe/dimension to travel relatavistic distances without having to obey relatavistic rules Oh I forgot heres a link about anti-matter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antimatter

  15. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Both Wade and Caspar have been update and sent Nol !
  16. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign You are da man... I'll have updated hdc's and nodes to you tomorrow.
  17. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign So if I understand... We are awarded 4 XP for our GA characters (which we will earn/re-earn through future tribulations), and 5 XP for our FC characters. And we can gain a possible bonus 1 XP if we login and send initiative within 5 minutes of logging in (HPs not being applicable to GA). is this correct?
  18. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Wade is a 33 XP for a total of 188 points, and Doc Caspar is at 25 points for a total of 175 points. I beleive that TaRang is 1 point ahead of Wade as he holds the distinction of being the only player that has never missed a session (this would put him at 189). In GA we had just left the bar and the local gendarmes were imminent. Sam and Wade had jumped on the bike and were about to head back to the ship before the coppers showed. TaRang was afoot and I am not sure about his plans/intentions. We were indeed about to try and rendevous with a hyper=warp ship.
  19. Re: Total Newbie Here; prospective HERO-er Hey! who are you calling... Dangerous
  20. Re: Total Newbie Here; prospective HERO-er And watch out for flying badgers
  21. Re: Total Newbie Here; prospective HERO-er Huh, you mean there's a book
  22. Re: Need help building a starship Also don't forget your other players during vehicle combat. We usually have a pilot, a gunner, and an engineer, plus sometimes our group doctor, and even sometimes have another group membeer man the sensors. Our GM (Nolgroth) usually works in situations so that whatever crew is available has something to do, other wise it is easy for a ship encounter to devolve into a pilot vs the bad guys while the rest of the group kind of sits by and observes. In our group we are working on cross training so that while we each have our areas of expertise, anyone of us will eventually be able to fill in, in a pinch. So for us a typical encounter may have the pilot (usually me) making combat pilot rolls to avoid incoming fire and line up the ship for our offensive fire, our Merc character usually mans the sensors and sometimes the guns (rolling for weapons locks and sensor information and/or hit/damage rolls), and our other pilot usually acts as engineer or gunner (making rolls to keep things running as my ACM manuevers put a lot of stress on the ship and engines).
  23. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign It's all good, enjoy your family
  24. Re: Total Newbie Here; prospective HERO-er Hello Pizzini and welcome to Hero There are some great freebies here... http://www.herogames.com/freeStuff.htm;jsessionid=a3gL_cB5m3O- They will give you a quick glimpse. I recommend 3 in particular, The Hero System Genre by Genre (a quick guide to hero in different genres), An Introduction to the Hero system (a quick run down on the basics of the game irregardless of genre), and The Combat Summary (a quick rundown on the basics of the combat system). Once you have perused these, I strongly recommend the Hero System Sidekick. This book contains all of the basic elements of the game system and is designed to introduce new players and GMs to the system. When this is digested, the main core rulebook (Hero System 5th Edition Revised), is the most required book. All of the rest of the books and supplements in the Hero System either show applications of this book or expand on it. It adds all of the crunchy options into the game that Sidekick leaves out. I use the HS5ER as the main design element (sort of like the D&D DMG) and keep Sidekick handy for quick player reference (sort of like the D&D PHB). After this if you want to use an official genre or setting pick your poison. Champions (Champs) = 4 color superhero action Dark Champions (DC) = Dark and gritty street level superhero action, or modern action Fantasy Hero (FH) = Sword and Sorcery fantasy action (ala D&D), though similar to D&D your campaign can have extremely different flavor and content especially when it comes to magic. Pulp Hero (PH) = Two fisted heroic action set in the 20's to 40's, think Indiana Jones or The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Star Hero (SH) = science fiction heroic action, anything from Star Trek style to Star Wars style games. One last thing I like to recommend to new players and GMs is the Hero Designer software. It greatly speeds the character creation process. It is designed to handle all of the math while helping to enforce character construction rules adherence. It does have a fair amount of wiggle room to allow for most custom or house rules. There are data packs that you can buy to accompany many of the source books to save you the time of manually entering their information (for instance if you choose the use the Fantasy Hero Grimiore books of pre-constructed spells, the data packs gives you the abiity to quickly add the spell lists for simple quick click addition to your characters.) Of course the datapacks are not necessary as you can choose to manually enter all of th data yourself, or even create your own data.
