Re: Musings on Random Musings Depends on what you've written. Get your hands on a copy of Writer's Market. It has info about all the publishers in the US, including submission guidelines, an overview of what they're interested in publishing, how many manuscripts they accept . . . Small presses are generally more hopeful than big names, since you're not buried under a pile of slush. But small presses also have tighter competition, since they publish fewer books. And for the love of all that is holy, DO NOT go to PublishAmerica.

Re: Good News & Bad News A quick story from work: Today at the morning meeting, someone mentioned that a sex offender who made the front page of the paper this morning lives right next to him. I guess he was accused of being inappropriate with a child. To this, one of the young ladies who works in the clothing department nonchalantly said, "Castrate him," and took another bite of her banana. The moral of this story is: don't underestimate southern ladies. o v O

Re: So why do you play Hero? I got into it, at first, because it's what my friends were playing, and if I wanted to roleplay, I had to. I stuck around because I found that, no matter the character concept, I could build it, the only restrictions being those I placed, myself. I love that I can think of a concept first, then start building and writing, and the number crunching comes last. And as that concept gets more fleshed out, I can continue to add to that character and increase her power gradually. So in a nutshell, it's the freedom.
