So Statesman's sidekick, who like Robin, is getting her own spot in the world!

So a sidekick who has watered down powers of her mentor and so has learned to compensate to make the most of what she has. I like that she is a different take on MA. Her powers make her really a front line fighter. She's a scrapper, but should be played as a brick/tanker.

As well she has a bunch of hooks and contacts.

And she is proactive. We don't see that enough in comics, and though COH could not do a lot with it, it is a very cool concept. I'd be curious if anyone tried similar in their games!

What was your thought process behind not including Excalibur in the build? Just eye candy?

  2. Might be as simple as a holy water test (which a Frankenstein style creature should pass). If souls are involved, can those be determined? Are ghosts "undead" per se? Werewolves? Individuals whose souls have been removed without going through the actual death process? Is possession going to fall under the definition?

My guess would be that it unleashed a can of worms and probably continues to be a source of appeal and counter-appeal.

Holy water by which religious standard? Do you use holy water from Roman Catholics or some other religious order? Why not Satanist holy water? What if Cthuluites object because their religious beliefs aren't represented? What if the person that returned is an agnostic and objects to the precepts of the religion whose holy water you wish to use?

  3. In Mortal Coil on Star Trek: Voyager, Neelix was declared dead yet through technology was brought back to life. Is that really any different than if you were able to do the same with a collection of organs? Would Neelix now be considered a zombie? The same question could be asked of the Nazarene who returned to life after three days.

People have been declared dead before and come back. In a world where superpowers exist, should it be so hard to believe there are ways the dead can come back?

What if the technology that brought you back couldn't repair all the damage to your skin? Your organs and tissues work, but the decayed skin just needs a few years to grow back.

What about people into cryonics, who freeze themselves after death in hope their diseases can be corrected and their bodies restored?

Sorry if this comes across somewhat rant.

  4. If I understand this correctly, the character has an additional +50 Body which is only used to give itself a lower threshold.

This power serves the point of protecting the body from catastrophic damage over and above the normal death threshold.

Having the additional +50 Body brings the death threshold to -70 and while the body looks severely damaged, for the purposes of the Regeneration power it'll keep working to repair the damage and either grow new limbs or put the pieces back together if left unmolested.

If the Resurrection part of the Regeneration is stopped by preventing his parts from being put together or doing something to the body like burning the pieces, then he'd be dead dead, but only if his Body score was below -70 as he isn't dead yet.

Technically, his body would continue to repair the damage.

If he took enough Body to surpass -70, he'd be officially dead and any efforts to further obliterate the body or keep its parts separated would prevent the Regeneration from working.

  5. Has anyone figured out a way for other characters, a coven for example, to assist in a ritual casting?

    For example:

A ritual spell that requires a coven to assist in a long ritual of a Summoning spell. The coven gathers around the magic circle. The coven leader (main spell caster) casts the Summoning spell. Other coven members want to AID (or other power) or otherwise boost the power level of the Summoning, whether through AID or some other method.

Can only one member of the coven actually assist in the spell, or is there some other way that all other members of the coven truly assist in the spell casting?

    Thanks!

    DC :)

Well, the idea of a magic circle could be thought of as a focus and the need for multiple casters could be equated to a crew served weapon.

Now, I don't remember if it's in the 6th, but historically you could buy crewed weapons as an additional limitation to the Focus limitation.

  6. It might something appropriate for a power stunt. I would buy it as a Damage Shield with appropriate limitations so it only goes off under certain conditions is appropriate.

In the case of Rogue, it's because she has side effects regarding the psyche of the people she absorbs from that endangers her by draining too much. It would be like her making an opposed EGO vs EGO roll to continue to drain her victim without having some sort of backlash from the experience.

  7. Well, it was meant as a general question, however we're dealing with a Champions game where an AI from 2021 trying to break a "quantum computer" from 1980's communications link. I think in this case, it would be more fair to compare the relative power of the computers as they were bought than special effects.

  8. Now, here was my thoughts on the subject. PC #1 whom will have the power does not know when PC#2 will attempt the temporal incursion.

It was my hope that whenever PC #2 tries to enter the region protected by PC #1 by means of time travel, it will stop PC #2 from even making the attempt.

  9. Hmm, this is another of those chicken and egg questions. How are temporal alterations enacted in your campaign? If that is consistent you buy the relevant defence.

If, like many campaigns, there is not a tight relationship to that kind of SFX with particular mechanics then you are looking at a number of things. You can negotiate with the GM to have a SFX specific defence. Say, purchase damage negation to a certain level with the understanding it has a limitation (only versus temporal alteration powers) worth exactly the same as its advantage (applies to all temporal alteration powers) and so you pay for it straight.

What that does is provide a broad defence on things that affect you. There is a grey area on things that affect someone else. If your opponent bought auto fire to reflect his time manipulation, would it affect that? A long conversation with the GM is in store.

I'm not sure how my GM is handling it. It was more to find a way to keep a troubling effort by another player to correct mistakes by using time travel in his VVP because things didn't go as planned.
