  1. Re: The cranky thread I'm doing a lot of scripting with sed and awk. It's the regular expressions that are kicking my ass. That and having to account for context. Like, if the tag immediately follows a period, then replace it with a line feed, but if not, then just a space, unless it follows a tag and then I need to insert two line feeds...Up till 1am helping the wife bake cookies. Kid woke up screaming at 5. God, this sucks.
  2. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Gripping the wheel, his knuckles went white with desire The wheels of his Mustang exploding on the highway like a slug from a .45 True death: 400 horsepower of maximum performance piercing the night This is black sunshine
  3. Re: The cranky threadText processing is such a chore. Convert PDF to HTML. Convert and tags to line breaks. Strip remaining tags. Proof resulting copy. Paste into InDesign document and pray you can get the flow to work right.
  4. Re: The cranky thread Highlights?
  5. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread It's not like we didn't all know already.
  6. Re: When you hear Urban Fantasy... No, no, no! Harry Potter in a shared world with Mortal Kombat. "Expelliarm--urk!!" "GET OVER HERE!!" thwackthwackthwackthwack "FINISH HIM!"
  7. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Took my kid for a walk yesterday afternoon. Coincidentally, several other parents were out and about with their kids at around that time. So first my boy got to chase some kid on a tricycle (and hopefully pick up on the concept), then he played with Andrew for about half an hour, and then he spent another twenty minutes chasing Lehua and/or her ball. Not even a year and a half and he's chasing girls already. There can be no sound better than your child's laughter.
  8. Re: This is why I play Fantasy Hero Why not? It doesn't say you can't.
  9. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER "Who are you?!" "No one of consequence." "I must know!" "Get used to disappointment."
  10. Re: Musings on Random Musings And her sister, Ping. That was a fun night, let me tell you.
  11. Re: The cranky thread Speaking of which, I've had some plantar fascitis in my right foot for a couple of months now. That's irritating. And since I've been favoring that foot, now my left knee is getting borked. Meanwhile, either I slept funny last night or I carried the boy too much yesterday, because my back is tight and achy. I put muscle relaxant patches on it, but the patches pinch and pull at my skin. In other news, realtors must die.
  12. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I have no idea what you're talking about. pffffft
  13. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER And Persistent...
  14. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER This thread must have an incredible LTE score, to have been running this long.
  15. Re: The cranky thread My old Palm V used to fluoresce for about five minutes after power-off. But not brightly enough to matter. What was worse was the faint, high-pitched whine that it would make if the backlight was on. Since I was trying to read e-books in bed, that was intolerable.
  16. Re: Musings on Random Musings Hey, you promised you wouldn't tell anyone about Saturday night!
  17. Re: The cranky thread Especially when they're after you...

  19. Re: "Neat" Pictures She(?) has to move over a bit so it looks like a critter is about to get lunch.
  20. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread I've just got to know if that guy was wearing a helmet.
