  1. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Somewhere on Earth, a book entitled Tuala Morn slowly oozes my way. Slowly.
  2. Re: Mars has water! Better yet, we could evaporate it all. Water vapor is an extremely effective greenhouse gas. Mars would then suffer runaway global warming and would soon turn steamy and lush--a perfect environment for martian dinosaurs to roam. If only Mars were big enough to actually hold onto its volatiles.
  3. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Who doesn't? Although I rarely have the time. Plus, I suck at it.
  4. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread But for one.
  5. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Oh, it's always a party in my office. [/sarcasm]
  6. Re: The cranky thread My experience with nonprofits is that they have incredibly stringent bookkeeping requirements to keep that status. You could always call in an IRS air strike as a parting gift when you leave.
  7. Re: The cranky thread I think that on a purely professional basis, short and curvy beats sycophantic yes-men any day.
  8. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread The boss is out of town.
  9. Re: The cranky thread I guess so, but when you need to be doing all these contortions just to maintain communications with your mainframe--are they really saving money?
  10. Re: The cranky thread VT220 emulators? What the hell are you running?
  11. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Just some silliness http://www.geocities.com/tempest_raiko/
  12. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Today I got to play with play-doh, paint a yellow school bus, play with blocks, and sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". My kid had fun too. Then I came to work.
  13. Re: The cranky thread I can relate, it's been like that for me for... well, my kid's eighteen months old now...
  14. Re: The cranky thread Dear colleague: Today you told my superior that I am "not responsive to e-mail". So I went back to see which of your emails I was not responsive to. It turns out that you haven't emailed me all year. If you want me to be more responsive, perhaps you should try giving me something to respond to. Perhaps you should try not making baseless accusations about me to other people. I do nothing but put out the fires that you and your department ignite on a daily basis, and what do I get? Stabbed in the back. Because you can't wait another 48 hours for your new laptop. My toddler is more reasonable than you. I'll tell you what: if you think I am unresponsive to your tantrums, then fine. So shall it be henceforth. Most sincerely, Old Man
  15. Re: Musings on Random Musings Marketing's doing a pretty poor job of that. Just look at their share of the budget.
  16. Re: Musings on Random Musings Soylent green is people!!!
  17. Re: The cranky thread It's bad enough a helicopter crashed here killing some hapless vacationers; must there be wall to wall media coverage for an entire week following the event? Especially when absolutely no new information comes up from one day to the next. There were no witnesses and the NTSB isn't talking. Quit running the same front page story.

  19. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Quick Googling turned up this link. No idea of the veracity. http://www.askoxford.com/asktheexperts/faq/aboutenglish/numberwords
  20. Re: The cranky thread I have so many things to do that tracking them becomes another significant thing to do. And then I look at the list and freeze up.
  21. Re: Answers & Questions Q: What did you eat for lunch? A: The green M&Ms. Not the red ones. The green ones.
  22. Re: Tuala Morn Discussion At least you can do yours. I can't trace mine back more than five generations--we have the sneaking suspicion that someone ran away from somewhere and took steps to not be found. The stuff I can trace is all of British Isles descent, and the surname is ultimately misspelt Scottish.
  23. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Pearl Harbor can easily be described with one word: Bruckheimer. Don't rush to add it to your Netflix queue.
